    Another bit of advice to med students (which this extends to everybody, student or not) : you NEED to sleep. Often time med students don't get the sleep they need because they are working or studying. Being well-rested leads to better decisions, faster reaction time/memory recall, less stress, and HIGHER TEST SCORES!!!
    As a side note, there is nothing wrong with taking a break for a while. even if it's just 3 minutes to breath and clear your mind, if you study hard and learn to relax effectively, you will do great things.

    • @bighands69

      It is much easier said than done.

    • @Greerthetis1
      @Greerthetis1 10 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Certainly, it is. But I did it. At the very least, get 5-6 hours of sleep a night.

    • @XanderShiller
      @XanderShiller 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      yess..as a result they refuse their meds.. like Ambien and consequently lack sleep. not sleeping is worse than smoking.

    I appreciate the last doctor from my heart. I would like to listen to Dr. Shrimant Ayaram more. Are there more videos/speech of him? Is it possible to upload them? I happened not to find any.
    Things happened in my life tearing it apart. Yet my dreams not tilted. I arrived. In between, it was a period of tremendous patience. Gloria!

      ***** Law school you help people as well! :) There's been so many videos of people being released from jail due to DNA test proving them innocent. MBA it depends. Med school is a pain...the highest suicide rate for occupations is medical doctors. Used to be dentists, but general medical doctors are higher now. Gotta think about it :/

    Looking back, i suggest while you're in your 1st year...List down why you want to be a doctor. Then later when you're struggling or feeling down, look back on it, and don't let yourself down, don't let the person who brought you there down..yourself.

    Thank you so much for this video! I especially took note of Dr. Srimant Ayaram's advice at the end of the video. I've started my undergrad work as a non-traditional student, and headed and happy to head, to medical school and become a doctor. There are many odds against me, but I'm willing to push through them and pursue this path ("to glorify God by being happy").

    Although agnostic myself, I can see how it could be a good thing to have doctors who are religious/spiritual. There are inevitably going to be many patients who are religious as well, and these doctors can do a better job of treating these patients because they can empathize with them.

    • @bighands69
      @bighands69 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Empathizing is an over used word.
      Doctors need to make cold medical decisions that no about of friendship or empathizing can make .

    God willing, I begin studying pre-med at CCU this fall, and I want to go on to be a surgeon! This video has been great and motivating, reminds me of knowing that the people you help, and the God you glorify, are worth being a doctor. Listening to what these doctors had to say has really opened my eyes, and refreshed m dream! More than anything, amen to Glorifying God, that's what it's all about! Thank you all and keep doing what yo do, God bless you! For Jesus and through Jesus, amen and amen!

    Med school is stressful and whoever tells you otherwise they are lying. I am not saying this because I want to scare you but to tell you the reality that was unclear for me until I was in it.
    The real secret is to have balance and know your priorities. You can study and still have fun but your free times have to be shorter once you go for med school and don’t worry when you forget things because you will not become doctor after finishing your first year or your basic science years. At med school you are just a student not a doctor so don’t worry about your mistakes because being at the college is your chance to learn from your mistakes before hurting others.

    well said...but depression and self-doubt are VERY common in med school and never addressed. these kids are spending a quarter million dollars yet there is no mental health service professional on hand to provide help in a private manner. the average 22 or 25 or so year old has no idea of what life is like. these kids will NOT speak to their professors about their worries due to being looked at as a coward or weakling. they need professional help where they won't be called out.

      Have a look at their curriculum in advance and see if something you can handle. USMLE step 1, 2 and 3- you could even peruse through their U world Qbank and see if you can grasp it as you go.

      No matter which country you study in, when you apply through ecfmg website - you can see the medical schools that are accepted to work in the career of medicine in USA.

    hmmm.. the worst thing is when you think you know what you're gonna be happy in, but once you've achieved that "success" you realise that you werent really happy.

      Hello, I am a first-stage medical student. Can you give me some advice on how to properly study and control subjects and invest time? I am still in the first phase, I am in a state of dispersion

    Advice: when people say "it's gets easier..." They're lying. Pick something besides medicine and you'll have a much less stressful life and much more time to enjoy it.

    How annoying, you have no idea what the circumstances are for these people, so why judge? They can probably have some sort of injury or metabolic disorder which caused them to gain weight. As a medical student myself, I learnt that you should not judge someone because of their weight, sexuality or religious beliefs but try to understand and meet them halfway. Being a good physician is learning to understand someone and work with them rather than pass judgement.
