Maybe behind the scenes Alexis prepaid the psychic. Possibly she consulted her previously and paid promptly so she knew Alexis would be a good credit risk. Even if she didn't consult Adriana previously she undoubtedly knew she was receiving 250K annually from Blake (a tidy amount in 1982) so Alexis would be considered to be a good credit risk.
A regiment? Who's Alexis kidding? A whole army, the combined fighter squadrons of the air force, three battleships and the entire Minnesota postal service. At least.
I chuckled when Alexis said that. I'm like... right that ain't narrowing nothin down. That's like trying to find a specific cab driver named Muhammad in NYC 😂😂😂😂
That Tarot reader was the one who played in Stargate the movie. The one who offered James Spade's character a job to help them break the seal. I think that's how it went.
What psychics even use crystal balls these days? No one even uses the term "fortune teller" anymore. I find it odd that a woman like Alexis - so atheistic and self-possessed and cynical and nasty - would even visit a psychic. Or then again, all the Karadashians who are modern day Alexis's practice all that occultism so I suppose it's nothing new that narcissists visit these "fortune tellers"
The producers wanted big, expensive looking hairstyles, but Joan likes to just shampoo her hair and not do anything extreme with it, so she insisted on wigs.
Imagine when they shut that scene... if the 2 actresses got in on well, it must have been some fun. This is so over the top even by 80s soaps standards.
4:00 Alexis’ cards in a nutshell: center - 2 of Cups over 6 of Cups cross: Love over Past Memories. The loving relationship from the past. right - 4 of Cups: Emotional dissatisfaction, joined to the cross by Death. No matter how good the past was, the present isn’t as happy, and someone will EXPIIIIIRE! XD (Death usually means transformation, not literal death, but drama gurrl!) top - King of Swords and Queen of Cups joined by 10 of Swords over the cross: The King will be at odds with the Queen, and this will negatively impact and ruin the relationship. left - King of Swords and 5 of Cups joined by The Lovers. A romantic joining will take place, but there will be a loss. lower right - Queen of Swords probably represents Alexis herself. Strong, determined, ruthless person, sometimes with a sense of justice, but sometimes selfish too. The deck is called the Visconti-Sforza Tarot and is a reproduction of the oldest existing complete Tarot deck from the 1450s Italy. It was a deck of playing cards and was created kind of like a wedding album between the Visconti and Sforza houses since people from them are in the images. Tarot wasn't used for divination until the late 19th c.
@Buffalo 66 No real tarot reader will tell their client that they are going to die because the cards reflect the clients subconscious and conscious mind. Wow!! This was great soap opera camp at its finest. DYNASTY, in the early days, managed to craft their own lane in this over the top, melodramatic style of storytelling. Adriana, the fortune teller could've been a cringy caricature but she definitely was not. This scene was also a wonderful foreshadowing device telegraphing to audiences the writers future plans for Alexis. Joan Collins, pure 80's diva.
Cocaina was very pure in the 80s - it becomes quite evident as you watch this show- very white (the obligatory pronunciation of the “h”, of course) ✨ sparkly and pure 🤤 Annd everyone used it- no doubt about that either- otherwise such dramaturgy could not have been written in the first place
Alexis thinks the fortune teller is talking about her remarrying blake. Similarly on Dallas 3 years later pam visits one who she thinks is talking about mark but is really talking about bobby
Basically from what I got from this is, if Alexis were to marry Blake again, he would die. I'm surprised the fortune teller didn't tell Alexis she was a black widow, any man she marries will die. I think Dex was the only one of her husbands, other than Blake, that survived marriage to her. We all know that Sean Rowan didn't survive his marriage to Alexis, neither did Cecil

This is one of the oddest scenes in the entire series. I can't think of another minor character having so much interaction with a major character. Adriana just talks and talks. It also seems unusual for Alexis to be so vulnerable and defer so much to someone like Adriana. This seems more like a scene from noe of Joan's 70s horror movies. And that's not a bad thing.
