A Chihuahua will chew your hand up in 30 seconds! Small dogs have sharp teeth, a keen nose, sharp hearing, and a desire to protect. Good boy, K-9 Corgi!
It's always down to the owner! Chihuahuas can be bad just like Bit bulls too. The previous British Queen's favorite pet was Corgis !! She had 4 or 5 at a time 😁👍 xx
My Chihuahua was wonderful with people, never bit or growled at anyone in his 14 years. He was an excellent watchdog. No one got near my house without me knowing it. Small dogs are dogs, period. They all have the ability to protect and learn all kinds of things. It depends on their training and the good care they get.
The Corgi is the diversionary tactic. Send him in first, the bad guy gets distracted and sits down to play with him, and the police come in and arrest him. It would get me, for sure.
Haha yeah! Could use the corgi as a chance to surrender, and if the bad guys don't give up, send in the K9! LOL :)
I was surprised to learn recently that Corgis are expert herding dogs over in Wales. Looks can be deceiving. I have a lot of respect for the breed.

This is actually a great idea for two reasons: 1) The west of China is really prone to earthquakes, and a small dog like a corgi could crawl into ruins to search for survivors more easily than a big dog. 2) These dogs are really popular amongst elderly people these days, so it would be really easy to take the dog undercover. You could just have the handler be an older policewoman in plain clothes, and when criminals saw her with the dog, they'd just think, "Oh, it's just some auntie out with her dog." They wouldn't think she was a policewoman, like they would if they saw a German shepherd or other traditional police dog breed.
It's not the first time the Chinese have used small dogs for big jobs. Shih Tzus were bred to be watch dogs for emperors. The family I work for has one and she sits at attention guarding me whenever other dogs walk by while we wait to pick up her "brother" from school. After we pick him up, I tell her "End of Tour" so she knows she's off duty and can relax. Dogs are the best.

We had a Female Pembroke Welch Corgi. Other than the tail they are spitting images.
I believe that with the right training/Trainor corgi's could make great sniffer dogs. Getting bad guys, no. Sniffers, yes. :)

The purpose of using a small dog for nose work is not new. I've seen films with rescue dogs that are in a smaller packages but big in drive and courage.
