Good review, but the pma 17000ne is already on sale, well at least here in N. America. Did Denon need to upgrade this amp? The upgrades are small as the 1700 uses a 2 stage volume control rather than the old 1 stage. Also, the 1700 has added a pre in. The pre in is a nice feature if you have a tube pre amp that you would like to use. That will not be many peoples' choice as the preamp section in both models is excellent, but it's nice to be able to make a change once in a while.
The 1700ne sounds a little different than the 1600ne. I have the 1700ne but have tried the 1600ne with the same exact setup. The 1600ne is more rolled off by comparison and a blurry in regards to soundstage (enough that I actually sold it). The 1700ne is more lively and sounds wonderful. Have no idea what they did, but they changed something on the inside that altered the voicing. I believe I read somewhere that they changed the type of capacitors that they used in the 1700ne but I can't confirm that. Regardless, they fixed everything I disliked about the 1600ne's sound.
It's a full 70 though surprisingly very powerful, something about the sound of this amp, makes it a great buy . I bought the Cambridge azur 851a which I love, but it was very close .
Boy are you mis informed. I have this amp connected to not one but 2 Rel’s R7’ s. How? Using Rel’s wireless Arrow system. And as far as 37 feet away with absolutely no time smear even during the most complex and fast musical passages. To reject this beautiful piece of equipment because of your opinion would be a fatal mistake. And many do that. Their loss. This amplifier plays ball like a pro with B&W loudspeakers., an Ortofon Cadenza Black on a technics SL-1210 GR turntable with an EAT E-Glo Petite. Phono pre-amp. Wake up! Aren’t you woke? Your coffee is getting cold.
No it doesn't! I have them both and the Marantz 8006 does not come close! I have several sets of speakers and the Denon is better matched with each set of speakers than the Marantz. It's ok though because I am going to use the Marantz in the workshop. The Marantz 8006 is good enough for outside the house where I keep my tools.
@@cameronkrause4712 I too had Denon PMA 1600NE seems Denon has High frequency too much rolled off. All Denon are too bassy and it does not present detials as Onlyo or Marantz. TH-cam has below average sound quality then too you can check online comparison at th-cam.com/video/e34dfQQGjhk/w-d-xo.html People who loves bass or party type people will like Denons
@@MrUttammaru I have Denon and Marantz amplifiers and players. Great components with different sound character. About the sound..., it s personal preferences.
@@cameronkrause4712i'm interested in sound signature on these two brands. How do you describe them? Is the Denon bright or warm compare to the Marantz?
Had mine for about a year and a half, and I'm very very pleased with it.
Their amps with built in streamer and dac are great. They use a v good burr brown dac chipset

@@82ivaylo All TH-camr reviewers have same experience. Denon soundmasters should atleast not roll off high frequencies.
