      Do you consider the a110 an upgrade over h390?

      No not an upgrade but a slightly different sound. The Hegel has a lot more power.

  • @dab9742

    To be perfect, this amplifier should have solid aluminium machined buttons. This wouldn't have made much difference to its price, but the grip isn't as good as on other devices in this range price. You might advise me to buy the PMA-SX11 in this case, but it lacks a DAC and bass and treble controls. For Denon's 120th anniversary, perhaps ? 🤔

    • @GramophoneMD

      Thank you for your comment. It's hard to get every feature into each product at a specific price point, but overall, they did pretty well with this one

    I have been with DENON and have their products since 1990. Needless to say that i am a huge fan too. This is why it hurts me and i feel so sad to watch that in present days they are just a pale imitation of the company they used to be. I have never heard how this amplifier sounds but even in a glimpse and merely in a dry technical specifications comparison it is far far behind from the average models from that time. Not to speak about the top and high end monsters. They were DEMONS, not DENONS because their dynamics and punch were so frightening that they could cause a heart attack in unprepared listener. Today 33 years later 4 from 5 persons in blind audition liked the sound of my DCD2560GL cd player more than Technics SL-G700MK2, though there isn't a single capacitor left alive neither in power supply section nor in audio circuitry. But it still works and will never give up like a real samurai. Sorry for being so emotional in my comment, but as i said for my huge regret, the golden era and the glorious days of DENON are over. 😢

      Hello Nickolay, thank you much for your comments, and we're glad that you are a huge Denon fan. We're actually pretty happy with how Denon products have evolved, and how they sound. We can share that among the sales team across our three stores, there are plenty of Denon fans, and we listen to both much more costly and more affordable products. You might not want to give up on them just yet!

    Hi! I was wondering if the Denon PMA-A110 sounds better than the power amp Pioneer m-73 combo with pream Pioneer c-73 from the 90s. Running the Focals Aria 948. I’m still trying to find out if this will be an upgrade or not. Unfortunately, I cannot tast it. Thank you!

    • @GramophoneMD
      @GramophoneMD  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello Anmic, of course we can't test the PMA-110 against your M-73 and c-73, a combination we've never heard. But our guess is that it will be a nice upgrade for you. Congrats on buying your Focals, they are fine speakers!

    Any experience with slow moving low end? Just not as tight and fast moving? It is reported to have plenty of weight but doesn't transient very well. That seems to be the one area where some have raised concerns.

    • @GramophoneMD
      @GramophoneMD  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say it isn't quite as fast as like a state of the art Class D amp for a similar cost, but of course these are very different things. I somewhat agree with the transient thing but only if I'm beginning snobbishly nit picky.

    Is the home theater bypass easy to switch back & forth? I’m thinking of a way to integrate it with my Denon 6700h. Can I use the A110 for 2ch and 6700 for home theater easily with an input change from the A110? And if so, would there be issues with the volume control work if I have a volume dial on both 6700 & A110?

    • @GramophoneMD
      @GramophoneMD  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Teressa, thanks for your question. The PMA-A110 provides a fixed gain pre-amp input, so you can pair an A/V amp like your 6700 H with the amplifier and use the connected speakers as front speakers for your home theater. Because it is a fixed gain input, you won't have issues with the volume controls. Here is the link to SKY: skybygramophone.com/collections/denon

      @GramophoneMD  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello RCA, it's true that there is no eArc connection, but it does have the coax and 3 Toslink connections for TV signal. This is more of a 2 channel with some extras component than a true AV product, because it's a nod to their past. Not for everybody though as you point out

    • @rca6576
      @rca6576 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GramophoneMD Yes, I am looking for more of a two-channel. However most I've seen do connect to a TV for the bigger screen when streaming or watching HD concerts. I'm not interested in most AV products really as I don't need that many channels and those amps don't tend to sound as good with music. I'd still consider this Denon.
