I purchased mine several months ago after starting to see it used by so many people. At the time I was cringing a bit with how much I paid, but I am now glad I bought it - I love it.
I've been watching you use this product in your adventures. With this review, I've put your comment "buy once, cry once" into action and ordered a yellow one. This will be used for emergency lighting during power outages and anywhere else we need a little more light on the subject.
Your video *content* has been excellent from the start; as a photographer, I noticed the dramatic improvement in *video quality* when you got this light. Since I'm currently watching your videos in order it was delightful to suddenly see your video quality go straight to professional 😊 Lighting makes ALL the difference! The dual light source of the campfire + the light is just beautiful - studio lighting out in the wild. And you use it very very well.🎉🎉🎉
Bought one when you introduced it one of your vids stating you received if from a viewer. I freaking love this thing and it goes with me everywhere. Great build and quality product. I felt it was worth the money when I bought and now that it’s cheaper, it’s defiantly worth the money. Thanks for the great review and I concur with everything you stated in your review. Kudos my friend.
I've had one now for a while. I also like it a lot overall, but let me say this is one of the rare times that I don't fully agree with Luke 100%. It is a great light for car camping, or out on a patio. It is also an excellent job site light assuming you aren't going to be too rough with it. It normally lives in my tool bag when I don't take it camping, because it means I now have the performance of a full size job site light in a tiny little cylinder. It feels like something out of Star Trek, it shouldn't be able to do what it can do given its size. But it is much too heavy to take backpacking, and as a flashlight you can do a lot better, it is sort of an awkward shape, weight and beam pattern for a flashlight. If you are a TH-cam creator and would otherwise need a lot of heavy lights for filming, I can see how this is awesome, because it punches so far above its weight class. But for the rest of us, this isn't going to replace a tiny backpacking lantern or a traditional flashlight. As a job site light it is a screaming deal. As a car camping product it is a really cool, luxury product. But don't buy something this expensive thinking you are going backpacking with it, because you probably aren't unless you also have a TH-cam channel.
When I sent that to you I got it from the kickstarter. I got two of them for 140 dollars. I’d say I got a slammin deal. You can also run your led strips off that usb a. I notice you use another battery for those still. One thing I want to evaluate is the charging time from my portable solar panel.
Hi, I used it as an stern indicator light on my sea kayak because I got wind bound until dusk and had 4 miles back to my truck mostly in the dark then used it in the rain landing and loading my kayak on the roofrack. I bought one 6 months ago when I saw you using it. Thank you. Nova Scotia Dwight.
My knock off is 18 months old, and have performed excellently. Did I say 7 days continuous use on low. Recharge time is admittedly long, 14 hours, but for under $50 it is a steal. Thank you Temu.
One very shortly after seeing you use it. The complete versatility is incredible. It is definitely an item I like to keep on hand in the truck at all times.
Another great review Luke. I've had mine for about a year and I love mine, have had zero issues with it, and I have the desert tan color or whatever they call it, it's like a light yellowish color.
It truly is an awesome product. I don’t comment often in fact I don’t think I ever have before but on this product I will definitely comment it is outstanding.
Thanks Luke. My sister and are putting together "bug out bags"--back packs with emergency supplies. I will consider this as a must have, since we both have cell phones to charge. Saving this video to my camping supply video category. thanks again. blessings. Michelle Reed Gresham Oregon USA
I have had mine for a year now and I love it. I keep it in my truck for just in case and also on all my camping trips. You get what you pay for. I also used it to charge my phone as well.
I bought a version used by contractors on work sites from Home Depot. I love the versatility of this light source. I paid $124 for it. It came with a carry bag, charge cord, 110/120 plug and a remote control that secures to the light source with a strong magnet.
I bought one of these and used it for some filming, as I was having issues with my other lights being too bright. The Med. warm setting was perfect, not only did my camera pick me up without making me glow, it was also illuminating the area around me so I could see what I was doing. Great for inside the tent, I flip the light upwards so it can bounce off of everything. I got mine in November on a lightning deal so it was cheaper than what it currently goes for but it is my #1 portable light.
I've had the knockoff version for about six months, and it works great. Is it the same material and quality? Probably not, but it does the same function, and you can't beat the price. The knockoff cost me $24 on AliExpress, compared to $227 for the original on Amazon. If you're in the US, the original is $160, but with shipping overseas, it's just not worth it. $227 vs. $24-it's an easy choice!
Theres is no way in God's green earth I'm paying that much for a light! I got a light I paid 64 dollars for ,the brand is nitecore and it will light up a football field! Why would anyone want to buy something so bulky and for something that is priced like that? I'm like you! I will pay 24 dollars and have a pretty good light and it will still do the job as the 200 dollar light will do! SMH!!!
Hey Luke! I bought this lantern after seeing it on your adventures. Had to gulp a few times to justify the price. But, this light is everything it claims to be. I've used it for about 8 months, with not a single issue. It DOES justify the price after a short time of use. I'm glad I bought it. As with yours, mine is with all the time, and on every trip. Also has a ton of uses around the house and garage. For those who won't buy one, you don't know what you're missing.
Good day Luke. Excellent review and that looks like a awesome light. I would have several things I could use that for camping and automotive. I going to order one . Thank you
A month ago I purchased one of these because of many videos where you used yours. I know from the ten plus years of watching your content that if a product is not great, you won't use it much. I love mine! I also bought a cassette stove at the same time. When I need some gear, I always check with you first and I have not been disappointed yet. Thanks little brother! You rock!!;
When I've got the $$ I'll buy one of those lamps - it will come in handy when there's a power outage in my building - for lighting my apartment and charging my phone - thank you Luke 🤓👍
Luke, I can tell it's really cold where you are, by how red your face & neck are. Don't stay outside too long, in that cold wind too long, okay? We wouldn't want you to get frost bite on your face! Great content & video as always! Take care.
1:16 one last feature, it is also a microphone for rappers in the wild! 2:41 Uh, not any height you want, mind you, but 36.6 " tall, which you quoted @ 3:13 !
I have two different knockoffs, neither of which I actually had to pay for. Both have performed just fine for me so far, with decent battery life, though I have not really done any extreme testing. One of them has four rectangular light panels that can all swivel individually rather than the single round head, which I think is an awesome upgrade. In my opinion they are too bulky and heavy to be worth carrying in a backpack, but they work great for car camping, winter camping with a sled, or (my default use) vehicle emergency lights.
Hello there I just came across your channel and am enjoying your videos VERY much!! I scrolled down to the beginning of your channel from 12 years ago. Very surprised to not have found this channel before. Are you ex military? Have you ever had a dog to accompany you on your remote hikes? Thank you for sharing these beautiful, scenic adventures!
I've had the same experience with grit getting into the legs. The only other thing I would say to be careful with. Take care when wrenching on your truck. I almost destroyed the telescope when a wrench slipped. I bent it and had to carefully straighten it. I could have easily snapped it in half. Other than that, it has been great.
500 lumen max output is fine for a small area, but it isn't much for larger areas. I think you'd be way better served with a versatile headlamp that you can mount to a tripod if you want, or just hang. There are also products like the Nitecore LR70 which is a lantern with a hook, a spot flashlight and battery bank. Or you could get something like the Loop Gear SK-05 Pro and carry a couple extra batteries and you have a side light, spotlight, and floodlight. Even the Sofirn IF23 Pro just seems much more portable and useful. But that's just my flashlight nut perspective.
I read the reviews, they permanently break easily if fallen over. Still want one but bought a sturdy rechargeable light that mounts on a tripod if needed. You'll probably have to throw either one away in 10 years when battery is lame. Pick how much you can afford to loose.
Great review. I will have to look into it when I review my light gear in the spring. I'm not sure if you done this in the past but any chance in reviewing two way radios for camping, prepping, and emergency communication?
Luke, awesome piece of gear. Still a little out of my price range at the moment. Have you tested the DEVOS lights? Great review. Definitely an item I could use on my camps! Hope all is getting better there in the homeland. Thanks.
Hi There just a quick question? I am interested in supplying tents to refugees, what type of tent would you say would be the best to use in a climate such as central Africa, based on price, ease of setting up (such as a pop up tent) ventilation, bug resistant, and waterproofing? Thank you :)
I would really like to see the Devos Light Ranger. They just released the 4000 and I’ve been wanting the 2000 for some time now. I’ve see you use this one from the video quite a bit and it seems pretty good
I stopped right at your mention of price. That makes this an unnecessary luxury item I can do without. Maybe in the future it or copy cat versions will be more affordable.
I own one. The fact that it isn't completely variable for the briteness drives me nuts. For the price that would have been nice. Other than that it's pretty good.
No red light option? Disappointing. Sounds like this would be a great camp light if you were hiking in to your location. It's small, light, portable, and versatile. With that being said, if you aren't hiking in and doing car camping then I think the Devos LightRanger 2000 has this beat. Going even farther, if you're doing long term basecamp/primitive/off grid then I don't think there's a better camp light on the market than the Goal Zero Skylight. Spendy at 300, but absolute bombproof piece of kit that can turn your camp from pitch black to daytime(6000 lumen) with the flip of a switch.
You're right there are a billion knockoffs on Amazon but they're not all bad. Keep in mind when people email you, it's typically to complain, not to rave about a product. So using the term 'everyone' is a bit hyperbolic.
I have to work for my money to pay the bills and feed my family! Someone purchases one of those at 200 dollars then they are loaded to begin with! Do you know how many meals that can be made with that kind of money? I will never forget where I had to come from!
I bought two of the "Ou' task" if you spell it how I think it should be pronouced, tan/sand coloured lanters... I've seen lots of the immitaters but bought the original. It's not perfect, it's no DEVOS Lightranger 2000, which I also bought, but it's very good.
Amazon Canada 267.00 Canadian dollars though , if I bought one out of the US and the exchange rate , shipping and Canadian taxes it would up costing me around 240 .00 Canadian
Its a good light but would be even better with a Red LED mode. Companies need to start incorporating red leds into lights more especially ones geared for outdoors. For the money I would rather spend a bit more and get the Devos lights, telescopes higher and has red light mode.
I purchased mine several months ago after starting to see it used by so many people. At the time I was cringing a bit with how much I paid, but I am now glad I bought it - I love it.

Amazon sells the same knockoffs but tell is a hell of a lot cheaper
One very shortly after seeing you use it. The complete versatility is incredible. It is definitely an item I like to keep on hand in the truck at all times.
I bought one after watching one of your videos, probably three or four months ago. Best light that I have and I truly love it.
Another great review Luke. I've had mine for about a year and I love mine, have had zero issues with it, and I have the desert tan color or whatever they call it, it's like a light yellowish color.

Excellent review. Thanks for taking the time to review it.
An excellent product. They go on sale. I bought mine late last year from Amazon for $139.
I have had mine for a year now and I love it. I keep it in my truck for just in case and also on all my camping trips. You get what you pay for. I also used it to charge my phone as well.
Thanks!
Yep! I'm gettin one! This review definitely sold me. Plus I have seen Lone Wolf 902 using this lantern as well so double reassurance! Thanks Luke! 💪👍
I bought a version used by contractors on work sites from Home Depot. I love the versatility of this light source. I paid $124 for it. It came with a carry bag, charge cord, 110/120 plug and a remote control that secures to the light source with a strong magnet.
What brand?
I bought this for my husband for Christmas he used it the same day inside and out.
He loves it and so do I. It's worth every penny
I was just considering this on Amazon yesterday! You're so timely and relevant!
I’m so glad you did a review. It looked amazing in all your videos. I want to get one someday.

Great input and thanks for another great review!
Glad to hear you recommend this light stand
I seen one being used by 3 young campers last year on Mt Nebo and from what I seen it was an impressive light!
I've had the knockoff version for about six months, and it works great. Is it the same material and quality? Probably not, but it does the same function, and you can't beat the price. Thank you Luke, great review on what appears to be a great product! 👍
I purchased one when I saw it on your episode and I love it it’s worth the price
Excellent review. Probably really great for Basecamp use or car camping
I could see this light being perfect for filming at night. 👍🏻
Got one and love it! I use it as a bedroom lantern as well
Good day Luke. Excellent review and that looks like a awesome light. I would have several things I could use that for camping and automotive. I going to order one . Thank you
Thank you for your service sir. Strength and honor. Semper Fi Usa

I have a similar one by Nitek they are great lanterns.
When I've got the $$ I'll buy one of those lamps - it will come in handy when there's a power outage in my building - for lighting my apartment and charging my phone - thank you Luke 🤓👍
I bought a cheap one of these on Ali express for just over £20 and it has been fantastic. I take it on every camp
So so cool love from the UK xx🇬🇧🇬🇧
Clear concise understandable review. As always. Thanks.

Hello there
I just came across your channel and am enjoying your videos VERY much!! I scrolled down to the beginning of your channel from 12 years ago. Very surprised to not have found this channel before. Are you ex military? Have you ever had a dog to accompany you on your remote hikes? Thank you for sharing these beautiful, scenic adventures!
We have two. Mostly used for emergency lighting when the electricity goes out.
Love it if you do a calab with Tony, AB camping it would be epic 👍
I've had the same experience with grit getting into the legs. The only other thing I would say to be careful with. Take care when wrenching on your truck. I almost destroyed the telescope when a wrench slipped. I bent it and had to carefully straighten it. I could have easily snapped it in half. Other than that, it has been great.
They had a winter sale that had them for $100 even i think. i like it, can't wait for it to warm up so i can go out and use it.
It would also make a great light source for when the power goes out at home.
I GOTTA GET ME ONE OF THESE!👍🤔😃
Looks like I found a new "work" light for the work truck. Lol

Does it make RF noise interference with AM shortwave radio reception? Mostly a prepper concern I expect.
Thank you 😊
Great review. I will have to look into it when I review my light gear in the spring.

Luke, awesome piece of gear. Still a little out of my price range at the moment. Have you tested the DEVOS lights? Great review. Definitely an item I could use on my camps! Hope all is getting better there in the homeland. Thanks.
I will stick with my Coleman 222a , they last and are not made from plastic at a way lower cost

Need to check out Devos lightranger 800
I would really like to see the Devos Light Ranger. They just released the 4000 and I’ve been wanting the 2000 for some time now. I’ve see you use this one from the video quite a bit and it seems pretty good
When he pressed the button to deploy the legs I had a flash back to Rolling Thunder III ……! 💥bombs away!
Great investment 👍
SUZIE SIGHTING!!! WooHoo! Hi SUZIE!!😍😍😍
Luke are you close to the fire in northcarolina
I stopped right at your mention of price. That makes this an unnecessary luxury item I can do without. Maybe in the future it or copy cat versions will be more affordable.
Luke you're the best.
I own one. The fact that it isn't completely variable for the briteness drives me nuts. For the price that would have been nice. Other than that it's pretty good.
can you remove/replace the battery?
This puppy is way too big for me. I’m always by myself, so my headlamp is all I’ll ever need!
I live in Canada 🇨🇦 would my delivery still be Fee, Are they Sold in Canada
can you use this while charging
this would be even better if there was a red lens capability for the light, like you have on a lot of head lamps.
I have two, wish it had red light though.
Please check out the Ampex gear lightweight sleep pad I’m begging you. Also great video 👍🏼
What about hiking with it strapping your chess pack? Just a thought enjoyed the review.
No red light option? Disappointing. Sounds like this would be a great camp light if you were hiking in to your location. It's small, light, portable, and versatile. 5:55 what is that in celsius?
Luke how much snow did you get will we see Susie soon
You're right there are a billion knockoffs on Amazon but they're not all bad. Keep in mind when people email you, it's typically to complain, not to rave about a product. So using the term 'everyone' is a bit hyperbolic.
It better work like magic at $160.... It should also cook your dinner and polish my shoes for that price.
I have to work for my money to pay the bills and feed my family! Someone purchases one of those at 200 dollars then they are loaded to begin with! Do you know how many meals that can be made with that kind of money? I will never forget where I had to come from!
currently $160USD (+/- $20) and $250CDN (if you can find it). a brutal bite for a light in the Great White North.
love mine.
I bought two of the "Ou' task" if you spell it how I think it should be pronouced, tan/sand coloured lanters... I've seen lots of the immitaters but bought the original. It's not perfect, it's no DEVOS Lightranger 2000, which I also bought, but it's very good.
I have the $50 slightly smaller version. He's not wrong about the design.
dear sir smaller size will be amazing too i mean maybe some people out there make all amazing thing in smaller size version
Love it , just to much money for me
It doubles as a barometer for weather man
One con might be is that the lantern head can get quite hot.
"Everybody" isn't buying it. It's reduclously overpriced even for camping gear.
It's huge too. I'm used to wearing a headlamp, inexpensive, small, puts light where I only need it.
That is a cool light. Can we have a video of nothing but you trying to pronounce odd gear names?
If this product is made in China and the proposed 30% tariffs are imposed the price will be going up.
$160 dollars...he'll no. I've got kids to feed.
Amen….. a lot of $$$$$ to Most of us out here…🤷🤷🏿🤷🏻 in the badlands😳
Yeah some camping gear is so expensive that the average person can't afford it
someone always complains about price. it's expensive if you're not going to use it often and if that's the case the light isn't for you.
@@pkk6428 thank God for Walmart😀👍🏼😀
You can get it their site for 119 if you use code GG30. Still a lot of money for a light.
Seems like it has proven itself. Falls squarely into the Cry once Buy once category.
