*Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Filling and Chocolate Ganache* Quality: Excellent! (But slightly chaotic) Made By: Kayla Sims Vegan Safe 7 left 1wk until spoiled
I love seeing how happy Kayla is just because Dan is there, cutting parchment paper off screen. As someone who's also in a long distance relationship I can completely relate. When he comes to visit, even washing dishes become fun because it's with him.
@@theincompleterealm1582 It's not commonplace though; My mum is the only person I know with an electric kettle. Meanwhile in the UK it may as well be mandatory to have one.
I love how she used the liquid measuring cup for dry ingredients and the dry measuring cup for liquid ingredients lol. Anyways, happy birthday Kayla!!!
Kayla using liquid measuring cups for the dry ingredients and the dry ingredients measuring cup for the liquids is killing me ahshdudhdhd happy birthday 🎂
I hate when sims do that. They’ll be cooking and picking at their earwax at the same time and I’m like “Ummmm…. you realize that’s for your entire family just you. Right?”
I love how you used dry measuring cups for the wet ingredients and the liquid measuring cups for the dry. Really adds to the chaotic energy of the video lol
I also love that this cake will now always be a tradition with them on her birthday. Each year it'll get better and better and it's actually so wholesome and I will watch every single one until she perfects it and doesn't wanna film it anymore.
i mean cooking and baking are pretty much one in the same honestly. you can break up lots of different culinary things into different categories (making sauces and stirfry vs. making pot roasts and casseroles; frosting cakes vs. baking them; etc etc), but I don't really see the point in it.
@@fwogboy I beg to differ. Baking calls for more precision than cooking normally does. The cake could have more easily turned into a complete disaster if she was off with her substitutions. Luckily, it turned out fine and looked delicious. Cooking is a little more lax bit people can still benefit from knowing what ingredients can actually do with others and why some combinations work exceptionally well. Technique is really more of what drives cooking. Take a simple carbonara with parmesan cheese, eggs, pancetta (guanciale is more traditional but less common in the states), and spaghetti. It's way easier to mess up than many know but once you get a good technique going, you have a delicious dish.
As a professional Cale baker and decorator 10/10. Vegan baking is especially challenging as the chemistry is difficult but I adored watching this even if I cringed a bit too. Happy Birthday Simsie!
Pro-tip for the ganache: to get a pretty drip down the sides, the ganache should be more liquid-y. It would have gone better if you'd reheated it in the microwave for 20 seconds or so. Or you can use a squeeze bottle lol
I agree on the squeeze bottle method since she'd have more control over the drips, but not the more liquid-y one because of how last year's chocolate ganache went...
0:38 I'm imagining Kayla handing her baking pans to someone in the audience named Dan, like "Dan in California - yeah, you! Cut parchment paper circles around these".
Happy birthday! Small tip: when using ganache, it can be helpful to wait until it cools and can be spread/piped easier, or if you're pouring it/it's still warm, to do it on a cooling rack so the excess can drip down and not puddle. Great job, it looks delicious!
cream of coconut is actually different from coconut cream! coconut cream is unsweetened and more, well, creamy, and cream of coconut is sweetened and syrupy, and it’s usually used in tropical drinks :) i just learned this as i was trying to make pina colada cupcakes and wasn’t sure if i bought the right one lol
LMAO the chaotic energy of this entire video, but my favorite was the "add the boiling water slowly" Kayla: pours all the boiling water in at once 😂😂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
A little pro baker tip: Do not open your oven before the cake is ready or at least almost. Depending on the ingredients it might not finish properly and stay wet in the middle even if you put it back into the oven
@@theekatspajamas opening the oven one time won't cave the cake. I didn't go to culinary school specifically but I did study Food, Nutrition and Health, I had to bake cakes and make full buffets as assignments.
@@LangkeeLongkee it depends on how airy the cake is. I did go to culinary school, where I learned how to actually bake things, and not just whats healthy for you to eat or not. Its not just that the cake might not rise right, but also letting heat out isn't good for a multitude of reasons. There's a reason we have lights in ovens
I just love Dan's commentaries throughout the video! Hilarious! 😂😂 Also, the cake is cracked because probably you put it in the fridge while it was hot.
Fun tip for a parchment paper circle: Tear off a square Fold square in half Fold in half again Find the corner where all the corners meet: hold that corner and fold it into a triangle shape Do that a second time Take your weird triangle and measure it up against your pan (pointy corner towards the edge, bigger flatter side to the center of the pan) find roughly the middle of the pan. snip across the paper triangle where the center of the pan is in a straight line (better too big than smol, you can always cut more) Unfold and voila ! Paper circle.
I just put the parchment paper in the pan I'm using and use my nails(clean hands/nails of course since I'm cooking) or a knife to score a line around the edges. Much quicker then all that folding lol. Both ways work, whichever you've been doing the longest is quick but I still stay just smushing it in the pan and doing a quick scoring is quickest.
hey simsie!! just a tip for the future, its WAY easier to mix dry ingredients first then to mix wet into it after (at least thats what my mom taught me was easier)!! and softly mixing the dry with wet ingredients before using the hand mixer is less messy bc the hand mixer's lowest speed setting is still pretty fast so the powders wont fly everywhere! Happy birthday, you two look like you had a blast :D
This is adorable. I'm so happy you guys get to actually bake together. Edited to add: when you opened up the stove and both went "OOOooooo", I DIED. SO CUTE. I am also beyond impressed that this did not turn into a food fight.
Happy Birthday! Just a top tip when baking with butter, chop it into smaller pieces before mixing (it helps i have made lots of mess in my kitchen before i found this out) also if you have powdered (icing) sugar or cocoa powder try putting a tea towel over the bowl and slide the hand mixer through a small gap this helps to limit the mess :)

Just a tip simsie! Noticed you’re using dry measuring cups for liquid and the liquid cup for dry! This will make a difference in measuring ingredients and the quality of your baked product. Happy birthday!! Hope you had a great one!
Now that you and Dan are domestic, will there be some Sims4 COOKING videos? You, Dan, and Stanley co-creating "bacon"-wrapped donuts?! Which look 300% better than in-game and are also veg?
I know you have an entire channel of Sims content, but your baking videos are my absolute favorite
One minute into the video and I can't even... this is so wholesome ♥_♥ especially how happy simsie is for having dan right next to her :D
