- As we continue our KTTV, FOX 11 commemoration of the most memorable stories we've covered over the past 70 years. Mickey Cohen was always in the news. In fact, he once famously said, "I could spit on the sidewalk and it would be in the headlines."

If Hollywood ever made a movie about Mickey Cohen, Stephen Graham should play the part of Cohen.

Steve should have played Hoffa in The Irishman. He would have been perfect. Pacino was miscast, he should have been Tony Pro.

They talk about the many stories of Mickey Cohen, well ,here's one more to add. This is the first time I have printed this. but in 1975 my parents bought a home in Northridge, CA ( 8634 Corbin Ave ) And as we purchased the home the real estate agent told us that this home was a built with mob money. And in fact it was the home of a girlfriend of Mickey Cohen. In the 1990's I saw on tv an interview with a girl that was a ex girlfriend of Cohens and It stood out in my memory because the whole interview was done while she laid in bed. In the interview you could see in the background there was a mirror and in the mirror you could see a wheelchair. In our back yard there had been put in a wheel chair path and ramp ( still there to this day ). One day we had to have the house exterminated and the exterminator came to the door and said that he had been under the house and had found Hundreds of phone wires running to the house. later we contacted the Devonshire division LAPD and they confirmed the house was once owned by one of Cohens girlfriends and that the house must have been used to make book. There you go , another Cohen story! I believe to this day the phone wires are still there.
He was always in some kind of trouble. Lol of course!

A former girlfriend of his was in a skilled nursing facility in San Dimas 90s. When my aunt, who is a nurse practitioner then, would visit her for treatments for all kind of maladies. The woman name Estelle would say, 'You gotta a warrant?" Hahaha. Estelle had many photos of Mickey Cohen and other LA mobster types in her room.
I have a picture of him with my Grandpa , When he came to visit him in New Orleans this was in the early 1950's or so

@flim I have no idea why you think I have admiration for these people, I don't and never said I did. I do have an Interest in there history, how they influenced the political arena and law enforcement policy at that time. I have no interest in modern criminal activity, I will say it's easy to sit on the side lines and judge other people's choices, especially in this day and age of faceless social media contact. I'm honest enough to say, I have no idea what my choices in life would have been, if I was raised in a criminal family, had no or little education and very few job prospects, living in a poverty stricken area. I'm thankful that wasn't the case. Maybe consider asking yourself these questions before being bias one way or the other.
