Mandisa once revealed that she had been raped at 16 yrs. old. She used food to get bigger so men wouldnt look at her. She used food to bury the hurt & shame she felt, even though it was not her fault, then in 2015 or 2016 her bestfriend died of breast cancer. So many use food to avoid whats really going on inside their heads & hearts. She took steps to deal with it, but it was still a struggle. So if you see an obese person, it may be because they were stuffing their feelings down because they don't want to deal with what they are feeling. I've dealt with similar problems, but I'm doing my best to get healthy now. I'm just asking people not to judge so quickly, because it may be that the only comfort some people have is the food. Some people dont have a good support system to help them get better both physically & emotionally.

I have practiced medicine as an M.D. for nearly three decades and not once have I heard of, seen, touched or even smelled this manner of classification as being a 'CAUSE of death'.
I am very suspicious that the real cause of death is being suppressed or hidden from the family and or the public.
Obesity is merely a descriptor that categorizes body habitus. It tells nothing about the underlying cause of death such as pneumonia, gunshot wound, spinal cord injury, heart attack, stroke, drowning, etc.
Obesity might interfere with or impede effective delivery of an intervention, but, if so, what was the reason for such an intervention in the first place?
This cannot stand as valid, in my opinion. My question is whether or not she received an intervention that has been associated with a plethora of recent and "mysterious" injuries and deaths? If so, then when will the public demand truth from the medical community such that these mysterious injuries and deaths come to a halt?
We the people can no longer afford to walk around as if these recently occurring and absurd happenings to our fellow citizens are no more than 'business as usual'. Nothing of the such is usual. These bogus diagnoses are anything but usual.
The public expects some degree of lying to come from our government. However, when the medical community joins in on the lying and the covering up of the lies, then when the public does wake up, the public's trust will be totally lost in both the government and the medical community. When the public loses confidence in the veracity of those that act as the vanguards of health, welfare and safety on behalf of the citizenry, then the national system breaks down, and instead of "We The People" it becomes "Those People".
This is the time for all involved or all that know what's going on to come clean. This is your grace period.

It's ironic she's saying stop the judgements but her tone throughout the entire interview was condescending. Obesity is a problem in the US because almost all the food that is consumed here has gone though some kind of process. While the data has shown for years that a healthy lifestyle is the best way to combat obesity related diseases, life set up in this country does not support that. That's what she should be speaking about. Drop this elitist attitude of yours. The US is the only country we know where poor people are overweight. Everywhere else it's the opposite. We are poisoned by our food, our air and our lifestyle, because let's be honest, this is a country that also believes in working you to death. And when you decide to take some kind of wholistic measure in rectifying the damage done, you're told by these same doctors that it won't work and instead they push medication and surgeries. More poison! So stop it. Stop with the elitist idiomatic speech. Do what you signed up to do as a doctor and help people by speaking the truth.

@@ChiChisWorld I got that, obesity can be the primary reason, but it must also be followed up with the cause of death such as uncontrolled high blood pressure, diabetes, certain types of cancer that lead to her death due to obesity, because there are many people who are morbid obese, but have absolutely nothing wrong with them. Obesity can bring on health issues that will kill you just like any other thing we indulge in, and it gets out f control, and becomes fatal. A person can eat to much sugar, and never follow the doctors orders knowing they have diabetes, and die, but the cause of death will not be "eating too much sugar" it will be diabetic coma, stroke, or whatever the diabetes caused. Mandisa fought with body image for a long time which was made known on American idol when Simon insulted her, and she set him straight where he had to apologized. I didn't even think she was that big to be honest, and to have obesity on her death certificate is really sad. This report need to be adjusted, because "Obesity" is not the actual cause of death.

I don’t understand why people are so upset by the conversation about obesity. Whether she had a heart attack, stroke, DKA, PE or some other issue, it was likely either caused by or exacerbated by her weight. It’s not insensitive to talk about it. It’s necessary. It’s dangerous to be that overweight and saying that is not a mockery of Mandisa. I’ve been listening to her music for over 15 years and I know her story. She was a sweet woman who struggled tremendously with depression and weight issues. We should be kind when talking about it but I would hope that her premature death at 47 years old would serve a greater purpose if we could have honest conversations about the serious health risks of obesity. The Grocery Manufacturers Association has reported that at least 70 to 80 percent of the foods we eat in the United States contain ingredients derived from GMO sources. Nineteen countries chose not to grow GMOs, with the major ones being Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland and Scotland.
Ever since GMOs have entered the food supply, numbers of irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, leaky gut syndrome, constipation, and acid reflux have sharply risen. Because genetically engineered crops are infected with a virally activated foreign gene complex it is seen by the immune system as foreign protein material or antigen. The result is a defensive immune response. According to the NIH, more than 23.5 million Americans suffer from one of 24 autoimmune diseases. When considering all 80-100 autoimmune diseases, the number increases to over 50 million or twenty percent of the population. Nothing about thyroid issues. HYPOTHYROIDISM is a monster. No thyroid = a multitude of health issues. Always get your TSH checked to make sure you're at the optimal number. You can diet and exercise until you're blue in the face and if TSH is off then you'll be off.

We have so much denial surrounding obesity. Not only outside judgments, but personal biases. Number one, know that no size defines you. You are unique and specially created. Accept the physical body problems before you get hypertension, diabetes or kidney failure. Make an assessment of your personal situation. If you are overweight by 10 pounds, do not listen to friends, boyfriend or husband. Find out what healthy food is and why fast food is so detrimental. Believe that you can be your healthiest self. Move.. move find what you like to do (walk, dance, lift weights, bike, skate, team sports if people are available). I have a relative, I told her to walk throughout the week, but she said, “I don’t like to walk.” She did nothing else, and has significantly increased her body mass…

How did the guy from friends die? Was that ever revealed? Or lied about. And why are they speaking in this young lady. If you can't bring her back then the cause should only be known by the family.

The diagnosis is not an insult; it is a reality. My now deceased oldest sister was classified as morbidly obese with multiple maladies. She was 5'4," weighed 400 pounds, and could no longer walk. Her body/lungs/heart could no longer produce oxygen - which means there was a lethal imbalance of oxygen and carbon dioxide. God can heal, but we must participate. My sister used food to anesthetize her emotional pain. She admitted and regretted not taking care of herself; nevertheless, she's at peace now.

You can connect the mind and body, and still be insulin resistance. Help everyone whose body is insulin resistance. It may have to be get on ozempic or whatever, along with high protein diet, and working out at home with ankle weights, dumbbells, and etc. Saying someone died from being overweight isn't a good answer. RIP!!!

This is eye opening. I wouldn't consider a lot of people "obese" but when you check the BMI a lot of us fall in that category. Another wake up call for everyone. Health is wealth.

You all for years have been telling morbidly obese people that they are big and beautiful. You glorified it. You should have been honest, telling overweight people how dangerous it can be to their health. You all in the media helped all these people continue down this dangerous obesity path that often leads to their death.

My dad was always a large perso , and the only condition he doesn’t have is high blood pressure. He’s had open heart, pulmonary embolisms , diabetes .. he always ate terribly and had more health issues than his elderly parents when he wasn’t elderly. Somehow he’s 81 and still here. Has massive back issues from lack of movement in life. Very stagnant life. He worked hard back in the day, but never exercised and ate garbage , drank soda .. this crap catches up to us. I’ve seen it first hand. It’s about good healthy lifestyles, not making judgements. I don’t judge, we are all built differently, but to watch people have this lifestyle is very hard. I don’t know who this lady is, I scrolled and this popped up. Very sad. She looked young.

I loved her voice! She will be missed, but I want to know what happened to her. I completely understand that obesity is an underlying issue that causes other ailments but what was the actual cause of death? Why is it listed as that? I've never seen that listed as the cause of death for anyone, even people larger than her that passed from weight related illnesses. What does that even mean? No cardiac arrest, stroke, diabetes? She died from being "obese" only? We just need some more information.

No one dies from obesity. You can be obiest which leads to other factors that cause your death... Just like during covid many of my patients had heart attacks- they didn't die from covid - even though covid caused the heart attack - they died from a heart attack. Its a shame that they have reduced this lady's death to something they deem important to their causes. They could have simply stated exactly how she died and leave it at that. But her legacy had to be tainted and used as a promo for fat loss and health in a place that sells unhealthy living in the very food production. Please- such crap.
    RIP Mandisa-
