      Luckily he probably never felt much of anything because he hit the ground about 75 mph from 30 feet up, which is why he hit the ground in less than a second. He was likely dead on impact. But this ride wasn’t safe for anyone on it. If you jumped from 30 feet up you’d likely hit the ground about 20 mph. And that alone is fatal. So let’s just hope he died peacefully. But I’m still disheartened a kids life was taken too soon and in such an avoidable way. It’s heartbreaking

I don’t get why this thing didn’t have seat belts and personally I think seatbelts are super important. Like people are complaining about seatbelts on like RMCs and hyper coasters and stuff, but they don’t affect the ride experience and prevents horrible stuff like this from happening.

      @@jenniferj939 My understanding is that the harness lock was reading secure. If that's true, then the operators wouldn't have had any reason to think it was unsafe for him to ride. Rides like this are programmed so that the harness won't read as secure unless it's pulled down far enough that the rider won't be at risk of slipping out, and the ride can't even start unless all harnesses give that secure reading. Also as Magic Coasters pointed out the lack of redundant safety measures is just baffling. Even if it does turn out that operator error was involved here, it's likely due to inadequate training.

      My speculative guess is that the poor kid was hanging on for dear life when the ride pivoted downward at the top. They said his arms were broken. My guess is that his arms broke from holding on so tight on the way down, coupled with all his body weight. When the rides’s brakes hit, the jolt snapped his arms and caused him to let go and plummet downward. It’s an easy argument that he was in terror the whole way down.

    • @QuadiePoo
      @QuadiePoo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Well I can tell you. They don’t have seatbelts. They expect the harness to hold you in. In most instances it will. The kid was a bigger guy. The ride operators should’ve told him to get off the ride if there were no seatbelts. But they did not. The harness was angled outward due to his size. This ride tilts the riders forward and if you’re angled outward and faced doward, it would create a chute to launch the person downward upon stopping since there was nothing really keeping him inside the ride. They basically simulated being in a car crash without seatbelts. And since the laws of physics states that a person gains mass the faster they go, you’d have to be extremely strong to hold yourself in in that kinda case. Honestly I’m surprised this hadn’t happened sooner and it was an absolutely awful choice of engineering without seatbelts. The park will pay through the nose and rightfully, they should. This is a tragedy that never should’ve happened. Yes, the ride operators should’ve seen it, but then again they may have not put too much of a mind into the physics either. The engineers (who understand physics) ultimately should’ve never let this ride operate the way it does.

The force at which you hit the break is intense and if there's nothing holding you in, like the restraints making contact with the seat itself (much like how the StarFlyers work at Cedar Point or King's Island or something), then there's only one possible outcome. I remember watching a video recently with one of the workers asking the vlogger if they wanted to be pinned down or if they wanted floater room or something like that. So... I'm watching this knowing what just happened on March 24, 2022 at 11:00pm. The eyewitness video as I saw it, the ride goes up as usual. One thing that I noticed is that on the ground, a park ride employee was chatting with someone of the riders. When the ride started lifting up, I heard same employee yelling "SEAT BELTS!" At no point saw someone checking out for the shoulder restrains to be secured in place. This tragedy should not have happened if a safety check was done properly, but it wasn't that way and someone had to die in vain... 😢 🙏

      In theory the large saddle horn between the rider's legs is too close to the hydraulic shoulder restraint for a body to slip through the gap, so there is no need for a connecting seat belt between the legs. This very small gap can be seen in many videos and photos of this machine. Yet this larger than average young man did slip through and over that horn. Perhaps the green light was given despite the gap not actually being small enough to hold him in when the brake activated, meaning his bar was not down far enough, or not hydraulically locked. I hope the inquiry does not take months and months. I regret watching the raw footage now. Sickening.

    Watching this after the accident of the poor 14-year old (RIP), trying to make sense of it all. I am thinking if the harness wasn't secured well, during the drop gravity could have likely kept him in place, but not sure how an unsecured harness would have kept him strapped in during the initial steep tilt at the top? I understand being bounced off at the end of the drop with the tilt. Perhaps the harness loosened afterward with the speed?

    • @christyler6694
      @christyler6694 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      did you see the video? he fell right as it began to decelerate, so the force as it hit the brakes ultimately caused something to happen
      edit: it’s more likely restraint failure, i doubt its possible to slip out with the between leg guard on the seat, either way time will probably tell and the operators shouldn’t have let him ride.

    • @Anthony-dl2qu
      @Anthony-dl2qu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It’s most likely that he was holding on when it tilted which means he was holding on for his life but after it being to hit the breaks the seat started to tilt backwards along with the restraints while he was still tilting forward which resulted in him struggling to stay in the seat as you can see in the video him trying to push back into the seat before falling which makes it even worse because he knew he was about to fall before falling 😔

      They reckon his harness wasn't on the entire time and he was holding on for his life. Then when the ride started to slow down near the bottom, the shift caused him to let go which is why he fell. It's really sad and as his own father said, nobody knows if he was too big to ride it or not.

    • @gamingfart-time7829
      @gamingfart-time7829 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@NobodyUndefined Yes, I just read the latest news. Ride inspector Martin has seen the videos and he noticed how the restraint bar wasn’t fully closed and Sampson was too big for the ride.
      “We know this young man has been reported by his father that he weighed 350 pounds,” Martin said. “For the sake of discussion, we’re going to assume that when that ride drops at first drop, that there is negative two (G-forces, two times the force of gravity). Those negative two (G-forces) times his weight, 350 pounds, that means that there’s 700 pounds of force that are pushing on his body. And I don’t care how athletic a person is, how strong they are, there’s no way a person who weighs that amount subjected to negative two (G-forces) can hold themselves in the ride.”
      However, why did the ride even start if the restraint bar wasn't fully closed? I thought there was a mechanism that prevented the ride from even starting if not everybody was properly restrained?

However, from every video ive seen about the incident, the poor boy was definitely NOT strapped in all the way down. If he was, he wouldn’t have slid down, no way. I think this was definitely on the workers for not checking him.

    • @862nooski2
      @862nooski2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      My analysis is his chest size was very wide and large and his height came into factor the harness could not fully lock like it was supposed to . There’s also no seat belt going across the lap not his chest area so imagine you sitting in the seat and the harness is barely on your shoulders . This particular ride Tilts 30 degrees forward at an angle basically making it impossible for him to stay seated once the drop was over so in other words the operators is at fault for allowing him to ride he told his friend he didn’t feel right when they were at the top because of the angle he was tilted there’s nothing you can do at that point these rides are not equipped with million dollar mechanics like what you see at Universal studios like the dr doom tower has a really good hydraulic system it doesn’t stop abruptly it bounces into the drop.

    "Is there an enthusiast working this? Of course!" 😂❤ Admittedly, I don't do drop towers ever since I tried Tower of Terror at Disney World; I just don't like the sensation of my stomach being left at the top of the tower after you drop. 😉 But Taylor, I agree with you guys that the view from your ride is amazing!
