These small inland lakes seem easier to target them. Lake Michigan is tricky. Tougher to find em.
That crappie was decent, Ive caught a 16" and a 17.5" black crappie this year, northern Michigan

@@liamthomas3666 it was, I thought it was a state record. But the Michigan record is like 4.2lbs dates back to 1947. Mine didn't weight that much, only about 3.5lbs

I’ve been hammering walleyes on shad raps. Got a couple 8 pounders the other night casting rocks just after dark. Great bait!

Nice job buddy! 2 years ago opening day I actually brought home 5 walleye from a lake in that roughly 1 hour from the twin cities region and last year got a nice 25” eye only. this year not so lucky for walleye. I like to troll crank baits to locate walleye then cast out that region after locating them. Still a poor walleye fisherman most days though. Keep up the good work, always enjoy the videos.

@@sobifishing it works some days. Looks like you were using a number 5 Shad rap? My all time favorite is the black and silver #5 Shad rap catches everything. Have a good spring also. I got big into bass last year so I’m excited!

Good video Sam! We went out on opener and put some big large mouth In the boat, huge gills and great perch. Walleye was slow and mostly little. Now this last weekend was a very different story. Keep the video rolling
I remember seeing this video when it came out last year. I picked up 2 of these from the local bait shop. My gf named hers Bill. And it's been her favorite lure. She's caught so many fish with it! She got her first Walleye on Vermillion with it last summer. I hope to add a dozen more to the tackle box and use them alot later this season.

I knew a guy named Ron Seelhoff, he was the greatest walleye angler in the world at one point. He innovated lead core trolling as well. He swore by the shad rap. When I started fishing I bought a whole mess of shad raps because of him. Awesome video man, keep up the good work!
Side note. I’ve never caught a single fish on a shad rap or a walleye.

Shallow water weed walleye....all summer long.... cranks,mister twisters, in the day time....then troll at night with planer boards with a real short line off the boards 4-6 feet of water inside weed edge.

Hey Sobi, thanks again for replying back. If I was going to use a shad rap or crank bait with a carolina rig or split shot for walleyes 13-28 feet deep, would a shallow runner or deep runner better, or maybe it doesnt matter because the lure will be down deep anyways because of the clampweight.

Great episode! I have a stocked walleye lake here in SW Michigan I tried fishing last summer 5 times and caught two walleye total. This gave me a little motivation to get back out and try again this spring! Was the lake your fishing stocked or a natural lake?

I’m all for keeping a limit, especially if you’re an out-of-stater, but if you need to keep a limit every time locally, u need to rethink your conservation ethics.
