Youngblood you've got a lot to learn if you are using scratch coat for durock there is no need in this unless you are scratching over wire mesh been doing this for over 50 years. I am glad to see that at least yourself in your generation is doing this type of work though.

It makes stocking the stones easier. Takes a bag of mortar and an hour and saves time from having rocks not stick. I put a scratch coat on block and concrete walls as well just to make it easier. But everyone does it different ya know. I’m always open to learn tho, I’m young and have a long way to go. Thank you

Hello, I watched a video of yours on TH-cam and I would like to ask a question about a fire place I'm going to make. I saw that you mix sand with cement. Can you recommend a cement to use that comes ready-made? And about the scratches you made on the wall, do you think that 👇 is enough for this piece?

great video! Is it necessary to tape the seams on cement board prior to scratch coat for fireplace? Ive seen done both ways. Thanks

Small tip watch Kirk Giordano Plastering Channel, like yourself he gives great advice on his trade, While young try and learn another trade, plastering dovetails well with masonry work, add another strings to your bow, if you get in touch with Kirk I'm sure he will give you good advice to a fellow TH-camr, Apologies for 1st text Fat Fingers 🤣, Never Stop learning, improving construction is a Great Industry if you keep learning ( up-skilling)

Buy a good quality Multi surface painter's masking tape, cuts down on clean up, saves backgrounds, 2 inche should do the trick
