I’ve been natural for 11 years and glad I did. Gave me time to care for my hair. I realized the problem wasn’t getting relaxers, it was the lack of knowledge I had on how to care for my hair while relaxed. Your videos are beyond helpful! I’m moving to Texas soon and know I will need a relaxer to maintain my hair in the humidity. My natural hair doesn’t hold heat(whether I curl or straighten ot reverts back the same day) and my ponytails look crazy when it’s humid. Which forces me to wear braids, wigs, or weaves. I want to enjoy my hair and outside. I don’t want to have to make plans based off the weather and my hair. 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

Thank you for putting out all these informative videos. You've inspired me to not only take care of my hair again, but nurture and love myself. Depression has really hampered my desires to even do the bare minimum maintenance for myself ... It's been challenging even before Covid (I stepped away from an 8 year relationship), I went no contact with my mother and little brother (major family issues), and I'm in my late 30s w/ no children. It's been so rough that sometimes you forget to give yourself some TLC from time to time.
Thank you for reminding me to love myself... My hair, and my heritage (I'm Spanish Caribbean). You're not only teaching me about my hair... But you have reignited my desires to do better for me... Baby steps of course ❤️... Thank you!

Thanks so much for the upload! I am 6 weeks post relaxer and was 10 years natural when I started relaxing again at the end of May 2021. I did so wanting to do the bare minimum on hair following my mums passing as my daughter already had thick and long natural hair and I just didn’t have it in me to put in the effort required for both of our tresses and everything else I have to think about. But even after relaxing, I gave it zero effort and was losing length and health quickly! I came across your channel in October 2021 and it has made such a huge difference to my perspective and levelled up my routine - honestly it has really made a huge difference. At first I thought, God this requires just as much effort as being natural but I realised that I just seemed to enjoy it so much better because of the ease of working with straighter hair! Your technique is well explained and helps that you share all of the products you use. I’ve now copy pasted most things (haha, why do anything else??) and it’s saved me doing the big chop which by August I was seriously considering doing. Thank you and God continue blessing you with more views and subscribers ❤️❤️

@@HairliciousInc I feel like there’s so much pressure nowadays to love your natural hair. Like it’s a representation of your blackness. I don’t dislike my natural hair, a relaxer just makes it easier. My hair type is less coarse so there’s an assumption of “You’re not black enough to need it”. I think beautiful hair is healthy hair. Regardless of texture or length. It’s so acceptable nowadays to get Botox or body enhancements or wear wigs, but I feel like relaxers still get the side eye. I realize they’re also not the best for your hair. I probably need to do more research on certain brands to share with my stylist. Any recommendations would be appreciated. 🖤

Hi Val! New subscriber here 💖. I know you made a video recently about switching to Affirm and leaving some products alone because of formaldehyde. I’m natural (with color-treated hair) and bought a bunch of your recommended products to prep for my upcoming Tex-lax day. And I ended up buying SCurl Activator Moisturizer but my bottle no longer says it contains DMDM Hydantoin (also an Infusium repair leave in treatment says it no longer contains that according to its ingredients). Do you know for sure if SCurl changed their formula? I couldn’t find this info (like you I do a lot of research). Thanks, and great content 😊 I don’t know if I can truly trust that they removed it.

Hello...I love your hair & I have been following your blog for couple of months now. I don't know if you can proffer any advice coz I am facing serious hair breakage. I am relaxed and my hair use to be thick and long but since last year I started facing severe breakage,it's no longer thick but weak and limp. Initially I wasn't using hair treatments, all I do is relax at least three months with ORS no lye relaxer & go on with protective styles likes braids, weavon, wigs, crotchets but since I started facing breakage I started doing protein treatments, use Creme of nature plex bond mender, Aphogee, great moisturisers, oils(coconut, olive oil, castor oil, lavender oil) couple with so much pampering of the hair especially while combing,I do bit by bit. I even stopped braids, crotchets even corn rows & wash it every weekend,I comb two to three times a week. Still no improvement. I neutralise with ors Shampoo, use other great shampoo like As I am,keracare, cantu, yet breakage is still on going. I'm so pained that I have spent a lot on hair products compare to in the past yet I'm not getting any result,I'm just considering chopping off my hair, perhaps it will help. I don't have issues with my edges but breakage. It breaks at the slightest touch weather I work with my hands or comb. Its that bad. Though the protein treatments I started is about two months now, could it be that my hair is not use to the treatment yet or what but to be honest,it's breaking more now that I'm using treatments compare to when I wasn't. If you can assist I'll be glad. Thanks in advance

It sounds like you need a moisturizing DC! I would pull back from the protein for 2-3 weeks and see if that helps. Including coconut oil- that’s a protein heavy oil!

You have to try Etae Silky Protein conditioner takes it to another level. Plus it detangles as well. Normally put the Etae on while the hair is wet Detangle (leave it in) ..than seal with the moisture mask and oil. Then steam it all together ... Saves time 😘

Also I’ve been using a clarifying shampoo more than once a week to wash my hair could that also be a problem? Also what do you base with? Moisturizer?
Please I would love to know your answer

Heat up a wet rag in the mircrowave, place a cap on your head, then the heated rag and then put a cap on top to trap the heat in. When it gets cool just heat it up again.
