I just found this after watching a compilation with short clips of all the Eurovision winners in order. I have loved France Gall for years, and love her winning performance, but had never seen any others (I am from California) until that compilation. Then decided to watch the full version of J'aime La Vie which led me to more searches which led me to this. Super cool and fun and all around positive vibes...the world could use more of that these days. Peace and love to all from California and peace and love to all in Ukraine!!

After almost 70 years (the competition, not Sandra) she's the only Eurovision winner ever representing Belgium, with her classic J'aime la vie from 1986. She will most certainly also continue to hold the record as the youngest winner ever (13 years) as the bar was lifted to 16 years old in 1990. I hold the song as one of the top 5 songs ever to win the Eurovision, but it needed the right artist to do so. And so it was done. Today Sandra Kim is a much more mature and competent singer than that young girl that went on stage in the beautiful Grieghallen in 1986. But it is that young girl, in her cerise pants and her very heavy 80's shoulder pads, that brought Sandra Kim into the vaults of history for all time. I do hope she has the stature she deserves in Belgium,.
And 35 years ago she won Eurovison Song contest! Can you believe It that she, after that, not had the recognition? She's always on the ''background'' She could have a great career when she get to perform on the big stages... But it did not happen.. I'm Dutch, but even me, I did not know that she could sing that kind of notes 🙂
