    9:25 it is not a bell from an hilltop temple but it is the alarm for attendees of Cinchona plantation (which is latpanchar is also famous for)

    A very nice vlog...just a couple of things- I may be wrong but I think in case of Great hornbills males have red coloured eyes whereas the females have white ones...Second thing is did you get Kanchenchunga view near Sittong/Chatakpur?

      Yes you can identify male/ female hornbills by their eyes..
      I didn't went to sittong or chatakpur .

      I try to film with a tripod but its not always possible to set a tripod after spotting a bird, so some clips are shot handheld.

      It was in April.
      But you can visit latpanchar anytime between December to may. Do get a good local guide. Happy birding..

      April-may is the nesting season for them. Thats when you will see them at latpanchar. If you visit early in jan- feb you can spot them at Mahananda wls which is at a lower altitude but not far from there. Let the guide know your target species and they will make the best plan for you.

      Mahaldhiram forest.. near latpanchar or shittong is prime location for birding specially for rufous naked hornbill.

    Sir ..I saw a blue and purple colour bird with yellow beak in Baikathapur forest nepali basti. Siliguri. I have never seen this birds in any record.can you tell me about the bird

      Its very difficult to say exactly what bird it was just by knowing the colour. To appropriately describe a bird you must mention the size of the bird like sparrow size/ mynah size or pegion size or bigger and its habitat . Siliguri is a birding hotspot and you will see a lot of birds this time as the winter migration has started.try to photograph the bird with whatever camera/phone you have.
      Try searching for Violet cuckoo images on Google and check if that is your bird, because purple-blue- yellow beak combination is not quite common.

      When I visited, homestay charges were 900rs per person per day. Which include food and stay. guide charges were 800rs/day.

    I ve been there for twice.. spotted 20 different types of bird.. but never seen any horbill. your were so lucky to having Himalayan Griffon.. RNHornbill male.. broadbill.. GFleafbird.. Scops Owlet.. great.. my snaps were..
    GHCanary Flyctchr.. Longtailed and scarlet minivet... rufous sibia.. Geen magpie.. burn swallow.. wagtails.. accentor.. rufous nped babbler...shirikes.. tits.. thrushes.. Crstd Srpnt Eagle... Eurasian sparrows.etc.. I must say you that Sillerygaon/Ichhegaon, Rishikhola(kalimpong), Barsey/Hilley, Okhray at west sikkim and Paren forest (dooars) are even more promising birding destinations.
