Please note, I don't recommend everyone just ending and re-listing without careful consideration. In Australia we have listing limits of 250K items a month with our eBay stores so we get no additional fees for re-listing items. In US and UK it's different and you may be charged additional fees. It appears my issue came from pausing my campaign. I did end and relist my store yesterday and will update next video on what happened.
WOW! That took a turn lolol... I'm glad you fixed it Mel 🙂I have a request: Can you please do a tutorial on "How to create a Promoted Listings Standard Campaigns on Ebay" PLEASE... Thank you!
Yup did same…Mel…. I’ve just come searching to find out why my store has CRASHED after INCREASING ALL my listings promotion rate from2% to 9-11%. Looked at my stats and promoted listings views is down 28%, sales down 48% & organic views UP 43.9%!!! Not all my listings were included so I added them again…no luck….now I see why as you say I have to wait 7days or longer as I thought I was tweaking for the right reasons. Ebay algorithm is NOT picking up the changes! Grrr!
Stopping batches of listings, re-listing in batches via sell similar, ( and deleting "ended" batches once new listings are confirmed) noticeably boosts sales in my small store. New listings show up higher in search. And it can trigger watchers and buyers to re-search, find and buy the new listing. If you have a massive store-this boost could be a ton of money! Sellers argue about whether this process really effects sales-thanks for explaining how it works for you!
The Worse thing for me about Low Sales is when you look at all your inventory and begin to wonder if you will be stuck with these Shelves, Bins, Shows, Tape, Label Print just collecting Dust! That is when you really start to question you sourcing schedule for the week.... Anyway, off to the Stores... LOL
My focus is trying to find ways to keep it moving and selling. Which was why I wanted to experiment with a new promotion. It just seems the pausing of my campaign was the issue
Hey Mel, just caught this video. To get those items out of the old campaign you will just need to end that old promotion rather than pausing. wait 10-15 minutes for those items to be available to add into a new promotion. No need to end and relist the whole store that would be a nightmare. Definitely a pay to play game now on eBay crazy to see the difference sales with no promotions running.
@@backfromburnout yes makes sense, ending the campaign will still allow you to see all the data from those old campaigns as well so if you need that for comparison it will still be there
@@2AussieThrifters Yep, I just came here to leave the same comment. Don't pause your promotions, Mel, end them. I end and create a new campaign twice a week(Sunday night & Thurs night)! I've never paused a promotion campaign.
I end and sell similar mostly all my store multiple times a month. I do 200 at a time. Only takes like about 2 minutes per 200 so yeah not a big deal. Just remember to delete from your unsolds once your sure it's been relisted so your not listing duplicates
I’ve watched most of your videos over the past months, and I thought I should say thank-you!! You’re so authentic and fun, and always keeping it real. I’m an Amazon used book seller in the US, so not everything is relevant but we’re both used book sellers of a similar age; and how hard you work and hustle really keeps me motivated!! Thank you!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
One upside of ending and relisting - it is a good way to check for any bugs in any existing listings because ebay won't let you submit them if there is a problem with the listing. So it is a good spring clean for your store :)
I end & sell similar every other month to "reboot" my store. Granted, I only have 1000 items, but still takes a few days to get through them all. Good time to double check for errors. I used to do it every month, but got to be too much.
Thank you for sharing Mel, unbelieveable the difference promoted makes! I tanked my store putting it on holiday mode for a week, I'll not be doing that again - I will just change dispatch times... 😊😊
WOW! That took a turn lolol... I'm glad you fixed it Mel 🙂I have a request: Can you please do a tutorial on "How to create a Promoted Listings Standard Campaigns on Ebay" PLEASE... Thank you!
You are adorable!! I love your laugh. Even when you are talking about something as painful as what you experienced. Hang in there Mel. Praying for lots of sales for ya!
Hi Mel Great to hear your latest update. I am not certain though that its all down to what you did. For example we have not changed our promoted listings rate and we also had a really bad weekend. In fact our sales went slower and slower from about Wednesday. We have been regularly ending and sell similar plus brand new listings for months. There is no rhyme or reason why these things happen, some weeks we work our butts off and list double the amount and then see no extra sales for all the hard work at all. We are not doing that anymore. In my humble opinion over these last 5 years it's almost always something that a glitch with eBay has done. EBay and their friggin' algorithms.
It really depends on what you are selling. If you are niche and sell obscure papers, books, magazines etc from 50+ years ago then promoted listings won't make much difference because there are fewer buyers out there, but if you are in a saturated market, which general popular books or bundles are in , then higher percentage of promoted listings will help sales.
I haven't used promoted listings before, but you're definitely making me rethink that. I think I'm going to give it a go with some of my older listings and see how it goes!
Ahhh. Hoping it kicks in! As you mentioned in the UK, we pay a bit differently, so towards the end of the (probably today or tomorrow to be fair) i usually kickstart a few very old listings. Controversial I know, especially since your last trip to the eBay convention and what they had to say. But it does work for me. Hoping you have tonnes flying out this week!
Same happens when I add shipping options! It's so confusing when I try to consolidate the listings. It takes them so long to repopulate. Some things aren't immediate. Thanks for the heads up!
I know it's worrisome to end and relief so much, but there is a bright side. All of your listings will be new! Many people searcH by new items so you'll have a fresh start! Thanks so much for sharing this info!!! Good luck!
The other listings were stuck In the original campaign. Since an item can’t be in two campaigns at once they will stay in the original campaign until until ended. Do not pause unless you want those listings to stay in that campaign. Once you end it you can put them in any new promotion. The new relisted listings only went to the new campaign because they were not previously in the old campaign. You do not need to relist your entire store.
Great info :) I wonder if you can help me with this one... I kept adding listings to new campaigns without ending the initial campaign - stupidly did this far too often. Watched Mels video on Friday - before ending the (very many) active campaigns I created a new one and added all 1800 listings to new campaign. I only then few hours later realised I had to end (all of the many) old campaigns! I've done that - now only have 1 campaign running. Do you think that will affect the work of the current campaign? Wondering if I should end campaign, give it a couple hours then start a fresh new one. 🤯 Honestly so grateful for Mel and the very helpful comments section - I've been making this mistake since April!!!! No wonder I've not seen any growth since then! Thank you
@@Cosy2211 i would check to see if the campaign says that all 1800 are listed, it will say to the side of the campaign how many listings are currently in that campaign. If it does not say the total of 1800 then I would just end all campaigns wait a few minutes then make a new campaign. Better safe then sorry and it only takes a few minutes to create a new one.
Thank you, yesterday I ended the campaign, and started a fresh new one, and yes it’s the 1800+. I’ve seen some nice movement. I think I may end and start a new campaign once or twice a week maybe 👍
@@Cosy2211 That is what I do but I feel like at first it was great but then I feel like the eBay algorithm knows what’s going on and after a while it’s not as effective.
@@CB-xj1fo interesting point, it’s definitely good (and new to me) to gauge how many sales come after certain amount of traffic via promo - about £100 per 300k impressions, not sure if that’s good. But I am in a very very saturated market - new/collectibles. What I’m quite concerned about is that from 23rd sept my organic impressions have dropped from 40k approx a day to 10k approx daily. It’s bizarre and eBays answer is that I suddenly have more competitors 🤦🏻♀️ so I take that as literally over night, on the 23rd September everyone decided to open an eBay shop in direct comp with me. Honestly. Unless the whole of eBay have seen this drop there’s defo something fishy going on
Yeah, Ebay can be full of booby traps at times!! Never mind Mel, I'm sure the sales will come flooding back in again soon! Another great video, can't wait for the next instalment!
This is due to Promotion laws in different country's, they just have a flat wait time of 7 days which meets all of them so no issues - ending the item and relisting makes it a 'new' item which bypasses the laws
it is indeed, also why if you lower a price on an item you cant then stick it on a sale as the new items price has to be the same for 14 days before going on sale
eBay definitely "Cork" your accounts unless you use promoted listings. I have seen my "organic" impressions rise by as much as ten fold as soon as I turn on promoted listings. Also 30 minutes before I posted this there seems to have been a bug with the seller hub popped up. 150k promoted impressions for the last 8 days have just been erased. Since Sunday my impressions and sales have been flying. Last hour since these impressions disappeared back to a trickle.. So I guess eBays algorithm has decided I've had enough sales for now..
I would take what customer service tellls you with a grain of salt, I lost count the amount of times I was given incorrect information, pretty much every time I contact them unless I ask to speak to a supervisor. I believe what they told you about waiting 7 days is incorrect. The exact same thing happened to me several times, listings would not load onto the new campaing, ebay had no clue why and they blamed it on some non-existant "glitch" which, at least here in US is what they do when they don't really have an answer, I finally realized that before you click "start a new campaing" you have to wait some tome until all listings load, how much time will depend on how many listings you are loading onto the new campaing, I refresh the page once or twice waiting a little in between until I see all the listings are now loaded onto the campaing & then I start it, hope this helps
Thanks for the tip. I've done end and registered but hated it. Because all itmes get out of sync in terms of when they were listed.i had about 700 items and I did that with 200 items, now the first 200 items show up as newer listing to the other 500. I'm over it now. I have a better inventory system now, so it doesn't affect me as much.
you poor thing Mel! lots have already commented but i was also told from someone who changes their promotion percentages for their whole store every week to always end a campaign and then delete it, wait a few minutes, create a new one and all the listings are added. I hope your new promotion ideas increase your sales!! take care x
Unfortunately i found out months ago with the 7 day wait when i tried to put items on a markdown sale straight after one sale had expired. Also you cant run a markdown sale on items that have been listed for less than 7 days also. Such a pain.
Yes markdown sales have to wait a week or two between sales because of an Australian law. That one isn’t controlled by eBay unfortunately. This was the promoted listing campaign though and it looks like my issue was because I paused it. Eeek
I’m not sure why you couldn’t change the paused campaign to ended. Then just start a new campaign. I do a new campaign weekly. It runs from Saturday to Friday, ends, then it starts over. That being said, relisting also helps
Because I was experimenting I thought I’d just pause it, start a new campaign to trial and then if I wanted to I could go back to the old one. I didn’t realise what an error it would cause !
@@backfromburnout Ahhh! Yes, that makes more sense- I’ve never used the pause, the system still had all your items still stored in the original promotion. Thanks for clarifying!
OMG Mel. What a terrible thing to happen. Good luck with the ending and relisting. When your 7 days is up will both the new campaigns start then so if you havent finished relisting all the listings you wont have to? Cant imagine having to relist nearly 4,000 items. Dont overdo it, please.
I can relist in bulk if need be so it’s not really time consuming but it does reset some of your listing details which isn’t great. No it won’t go into both as only the new one is active.
We had a really rough weekend too and didn't change anything - have heard the same from a few other Aussies as well. I think being the first weekend of school holidays (in nsw at least) has alot to do with it.
@@backfromburnout you can also bulk edit your promotion rate with the new listing tool. Would be much faster than ending and relisting. Just tested it and it only takes a few clicks for the entire 2k listing we currently have.
Oh dear, that's awful Mel. Relisting all those at one time would scare me too, unless doing in groups of 500, would that help, I wonder. So whatever your decision the best of luck!
Wow this is wild but don’t feel bad my posh store did bad over this past weekend but I’m working to change this. I appreciate your problem solving skills. Love, joy
yeah eBay has so many strange things and they don't properly explain them. I was doing 2% flat then I went below standard seller level with 100% positive rating, never even had a negative rating yet. And because of that my ability to promote listing were taken away from me. Good thing this is not my prime source of income.
@@darlenebradley2335 from what I understand combination of unresolved return requests (3) because I don't accept return and I did not know there is a penalty to seller if they let eBay decide on the case, pretty ridiculous, and 2 supposed late shipments which have nothing to do with me, if USPS for some strange reason took a very long time to deliver.
So I see in the background behind you a Mountain of books much like my EBay store. Do you sell books only on EBay or Amazon as well. Do you have someone that helps you with listing and all or are you a one man show like me. I am at the point where it is overwhelming to say the least.
I think eBay has an imperfect/buggy system with regards to it's promotions dashboard/markdown sales - however, I believe that eBay has given you the wrong information with regards to relisting all your items. I would just go back to the paused one, unpause it, select your usual 5% and it MIGHT work. Maybe not immediately because of the other ones you started, but in a day or two. If not end that old 5% one, start a brand new one. (end don't pause BUT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO RESTART YOUR OLD 5% ONE AND END THE OTHERS) I have found that if I do it straight away after ending it does not pick up all the items, but if I go back in a day or so (not 7) they are there to select. I find that is stupid and weird and they should give a message. I have issues with markdown sales too where I select items (by hand sometimes - they let you do a total of 500 which I do and it says 500 items selected and I can't select any more - unless I select entire categories, where I can then get as many as I want) and they don't pick them all up (so maybe 60 out of 500 will show up even though I've 100% selected 500 or more if I've chosen the option to select by category - same thing) There's a tick box that says to include skipped items, which I didn't know entirely what it meant but ticked it to see if it makes a difference - and still no idea. It makes no sense. I cannot contact support as they do my head in with either incorrect information or lack of understanding what I'm talking about. I want to be able to email them and them get back to me. Chat does my head in. I did a test on 10% in that same advertising dashboard page you were on (a couple of weeks ago) and took away my markdown sales which were up to 30% off some things, and the sales went up. Then this last week with me doing nothing to it, the sales have reduced (and that's on 10% and I have been trying just manually marking items in my store down too rather than the markdowns. It's like I've said before, it's like they turn on a tap for a second, then it's off again. It makes no sense. I have quality items, people are happy - it's extremely frustrating. I do get the the solution for you to get more immediate sales would be to maybe relist the whole lot but what a pain in the arrrr------- I could be spouting a bunch of garbage here, but I have just had to play around to find the best solution (of which sometimes there appears none) as I am incapable of handling online chat conversations. I've just flicked mine back to 5 which it was on before I decided to try 10 and see what happens. It's currently showing all my items, which is different from when I've ended something in the dashboard. I have a feeling that the rep MIGHT have been talking about the markdown sales rather than the ad dashboard, as a few weird things have happened when they didn't show up immediately when I do mark down sales, but maybe they did show up 7 days later after I manually marked certain items down manually and thus lost $$$. There are ones I did a mark down sale on a few days ago that are still not showing up. Maybe they'll show up in 7 days.........? I realise I'm talking about 2 different things here, but both are equally frustrating.
I don’t know why eBay told you this. You don’t have to end and relist the entire store. You just have to end and delete your original campaign from eBay. I’ve had this same issue before!
Thank you so so much for sharing! I've been wondering about what that campaign thingy was, mine has been running since December 2021 🤔. Was thinking about messing with it but know now not to! I started selling in October of 2021. This is such valuable information!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!! 😊
@@backfromburnout I never promote and 20% of my impressions are in the top 20 search slots. However, I sell in a collectible category where I think buyers don't know what they want until they see it, so they scroll scroll scroll. I'm just wondering how the book category works.
I end my automated campaign every month - don't pause the campaign, end it completely. I end the campaign and then wait 30 mins before starting a new one and the process usually boosts my sales a bit.
Do you promote continually? I have been doing my promoted listings only for a few days at a time. Someone told me once when you restart promoted listings every few days your listings get a little but of a jump. Wondering what you do?
I listened to this about half way through now. Sadly, I have to agree with you a little bit. I mean, agree about eBays promotions. When ebay started this promo rate thing I did the 1% and I did it on almost everything except those items over $50. When they said ok now we are FORCING you to do a MIN. of 2% I said oh heck no! I am naturally rebellious creature...don't like to be FORCED into things so I took promotions off everything. And yeah I have to tell you, my sales went down 50% approx. I did all the other things...I ran sales, I sent offers...but things just were not being SEEN, Its been a sad slow 2 months. So Now I am still PO'd at Ebay for forcing us on 2% min...yes that is ME, my issue. I feel its a money grab by ebay...BUT I put a lot of effort into my listing, into my store so I begrudgingly started putting a 2% promo rate on a few items about 5 days ago. Which items get that promo rate? The ones that are NOT popular, the ones with low views, no watchers...either a no name brand, or old style, etc. (I sell mainly clothing). And I have noticed a difference. I have sold one or two of these promoted items - not really sure if promoted yet actually as you say it takes 7 days and I have done this in last 5. But I sold at least one oldie but goodie. And other sales have gone up as well...even ones I have not promoted and never will. If an item is more rare and popular I am still not going to promote it. And unless I'm absolutely desperate beyond reason I will not promote for more than 2% either! LOL. I am stubborn about that. l find if I do everything else fantastic my sales are rather descent. Only a few times have I been skipping off to the bank singing a tune because its more than I could wish for, but for the most part fairly good. As far as re-listing I am already past my # of free ones so now paying .25 each one. I regularly sell similar every Sunday...I look at the things about to end and I sell similar on the ones that are again, not getting the views, or the watchers and I try to change them as well...price, title, photos...whatever improvement i can make. Ok Good luck and let us know how things go. You know sometimes sales just dip for no reason at all...none. That has happened to me a few times where I had sales banging for a week then suddenly, without any change whatsoever it seems to go cold, and cold for a number of days. So, rushing to assume it was your change in promotions might be true, and then again it may not. :-).
Hi Yes the 7 days was because I paused my campaign. If you are starting a brand new one hopefully yours will kick in faster then mine. I have seen a increase since adding back the promoted listings so they definitely make a difference to sales.
@@backfromburnout Oh good to know, thanks for sharing - all of it. Your journey. It's so helpful. I live alone, I work alone...I don't go out much except to source but I have so much inventory I don't do that much either LOL. I have mine set at 6%- sales were booming. I then changed down to 3% and literally lost all sales for over a month. Gone back up to 6% and still not as strong as once was.
@@backfromburnout aww thank you for your reply. I love your channel and I have found you really inspiring. I’ve had my eBay business 21 years and in that time I’ve learnt that making changes will affects sales dramatically. I have also taken the decision and ended all my listening and relisted. This initially works but when the listening hit that 20-15 day cycle you can have a really flat week(s) as all items are in the the same time cycle. Also any drastic change will effect your eBay algorithm. eBay tell you us relist or sell similar all items have been on the site for 90 days, after 90 days they are at there lowest viewing time and eBay actually say they are not visible in searches, hence the relist or sell similar. The only way of counteracting a major changes made is by listing new stock. New listings are like honey to the eBay bear. Thanks again 🙏🏻
I wonder if it has more to do with you doing something different than the promoted %. It seems that the algorithm learns what's normal for you & then punishes you for doing something different. Seems to me, the same thing happens when you try to sell different items if you mainly sell in a particular category....just a thought
I don’t think it was the change it was that the listings didn’t carry over with the 7 day pause problem so the instant drop was from no promoted listings
I'm eager to know how sales go for you. I am considering changing my promotion but before I do anything drastic, I want to see if everything turned out alright in your store. :)
@@HouseholdDog I think she has around 4k listing’s and works crazy hard, packs all the stuff by herself making her an extremely hard worker. That’s thousands of packages to pack per year, books are not light especially in bundles
It just depends on the size of your store and how good ur prices are and is there a demand for your lovely listings? How long have you been doing this how many active listings and what do you sell? I have approx 900 active clothing items on Poshmark and list approx 1-5 new a day and get 1-5 sales a day depending on my recent activity and sales pick up and reach how many I list daily when I list daily, if I drop off and don’t work or list for several days my sales dry up. Being active is key.
Thanks for sharing, Mel! This experience was wild for you! I have about 450 items in my store. So if I were to want to change/increase my promoted listings, it would be best to bulk edit to the new promoted %, then perhaps start a new campaign at same % to capture any items moving forward?
Big hugs Mel ❤ I’m new to reselling and was wondering if at some point you would be able to do a video on Campaigns/Promoted listings/Impressions please? I apologise if you have already and I just haven’t seen it. Keep up the good work 😊
Are the 800+ impressions because of the promoted listing, or just because you relisted them (so they show up "new" again)? As a buyer, I'm always looking at items by time listed, to see the new ones first.
Mel No! The eBay rep wasn’t giving you the full story. All you need to do is either remove the items from the old campaign, OR, end the old campaign. The reason this has happened is because you can’t have items in more than one campaign. I’m so cross that the eBay rep didn’t give you the correct info.
I can’t believe she didn’t tell me it was because I paused it and if I deleted it then they would transfer. eBay should have a pop up warning when you hit pause to tell you that.
I have the promoted listings philosophy that it only will matter if there are tons of listeds, to get mine at the top of the list. If there are only a handful listed, it doesn't make sense to promote. What do you think? With 4000 listings like you have, probably easier to just do them all the same, I am guessing. I am not dealing in that kind of volume. Love your content!
I just list what I'm comfortable with and let the sales play out. Ebay can be very tricky and costly if you don't pay attention to their wording. Hope that makes sense.
Yes. I don’t mind paying for promoted listings though if they help bring sales. I was even trying to increase my promotions. It’s very clear for my niche that running promoted listings is needed.
You create a campaign and eBay will automatically add your listings into it. So you don’t have to do it individually when listing. My issue was not knowing the pause between starting new campaigns.
It's not just you Mel even the Aussie Flippers store died ...mine is lower than usual too but no where like you guys. I have a Max of 9% capped on mine as per a video the 2 aussie thrifters advised last year maybe its too high. Lots of work but looks like u had a busy time relisting poor thing
Definitely have a play and see what % works best for you. We are still promoting at trending with a cap of 9% but accross everything it ends up about 5% that the good thing about promoting at trending with a cap it will fluctuate depending on competitors but never go over your set cap
@@thetreasurehuntingboomer everyone’s store and stock is different so always worth seeing what works for you as maybe categories you sell in will be different and require different %’s
I think it will depend on your niche Nelly. Some stores who sell in more saturated niches (like mine) will probably have to promote higher to compete in a saturated market. The more rare books wont need as high promoted rate. I don't mind paying for the promoted fees as long as they bring the sales and at the end of the day, we only pay the fee if the item does actually sell.
Wow. Such a shame that happened. 25% downturn of sales for the month would have been catastrophic for any small business, so, lucky you found the fix. Yet another reason for people to be unsure about selling on eBay. I hope the relisting of the 4000 items worked ok.
Alternative option: Use the time you're not packing and shipping to list even more inventory. (all of that can go in the new campaign) 7 days with no warning is completely stupid.
@@backfromburnout I find the new tool faster for me now that I've gotten used to it. The only part that's absolutely horrible is switching categories manually. And now would be a perfect time to get used to it. ;)
I hate that eBay does this, it is just a sneaky way to get more money from Sellers, they nickel and dime us to death! They try to say their fees are only XX amount so it looks like they are cheaper than other sites but by the time it is all said and done the percentage taken in fees is right up there. I would prefer to see EXACTLY what my profit is during the listing process and not have to waste all this time with promoting, and listing fees, processing fees, fees on shipping, etc etc. It doesn't have to be this hard eBay!
I don't think I'll ever use promoted listings either way. Just gonna keep on with the 20 listings per day and maintain being competitive on price as best I can. Is good information to have though! 😎
Greetings Mel, good to see you. Who new the promoted listing really does boost the view of listings. I had mine at 2%. From watching your video I’ve decided to experiment and raise mine to 4%. See 👀 what happens with that. Oh yes I do have a question: What are your thoughts on adding IBSN numbers to bundles? Do you add one of the ISBN numbers from the bundle? Thanks Mel Love 🥰watching your videos you are so helpful 🤓
I'm not sure I would have relisted the entire store. What if this experiment with the 2 new campaigns doesn't work the way you intend and you want to go back to the old way. Will you have to relist again?
if you just end your campaign rather than pause it, the new campaigns would have been fine, you just need to leave it a few hours before doing the new campaigns
I use marketing promotions and have sales frequently but I don't pay Ebay extra for my transactions. They get enough fees from me now in my opinion. I also do the ending listings but sell similar and it makes a huge difference at times on my sales at times. I find you need to do that so that every 2-3 months stuff are new or the items become stagnant and they don't sell as quickly. I have about 1900 listings myself and about 4000+ items but some items are mufti pick and choose ones ... I do that with cards that i sell by themselves and board game piece. Because they would be expensive to sell on their own. I don't get near the amount of sales usually you get but I think i'll need a lot more items to get there.

Yes I'm wondering if we can charge ebay a storing fee lol
Yard sale time!
Yes it seems the issue is that I paused the campaign so I could keep the data and go back to it if needed but that looks to be a mistake.
Very helpful information even from comments! You guys rock!
I had my entire retail booth collapse, broken glass and items everywhere. You can recover from hard times with lots of Will power
Holiday mode will slow sales but we do all need breaks sometimes so I think it’s good to still have the option available to us.
WOW! That took a turn lolol... I'm glad you fixed it Mel 🙂I have a request: Can you please do a tutorial on "How to create a Promoted Listings Standard Campaigns on Ebay" PLEASE... Thank you!
Thank you. Honestly it’s so easy. Seller hub, Marketing tab, dashboard, create a campaign.
You are adorable!! I love your laugh. Even when you are talking about something as painful as what you experienced. Hang in there Mel. Praying for lots of sales for ya!
Thank you xxx
I can't wait for next video to see how it took off with relisting. Thank you for sharing this info I didn't know about it.
I change mine all time Ahhh my sales are super slow too . Thanks for sharing
I think my issue was pausing it and not deleting it.
Hi Mel
Great to hear your latest update. EBay and their friggin' algorithms.
yep agreed
Oh looking at the graph I’m pretty sure it was. Once the promoted listings started back in my store sales have immediately picked up.
@@backfromburnout good to see they have improved mel
It really depends on what you are selling. If you are niche and sell obscure papers, books, magazines etc from 50+ years ago then promoted listings won't make much difference because there are fewer buyers out there, but if you are in a saturated market, which general popular books or bundles are in , then higher percentage of promoted listings will help sales.
Good for you staying cheerful and motivated
Always trying!
I haven't used promoted listings before, but you're definitely making me rethink that. I think I'm going to give it a go with some of my older listings and see how it goes!
If you haven’t tried it you should! It really does bring a spike in sales and impressions.
I am so sorry that happened to you! I hope you recover from it quickly.
Have you seen a difference since relisting since watching my video where the eBay staff member talked about the 9 cycles?
I'm so sorry you are going through this. I'm praying for you and your store.
Thank you, sales will come back again I’m sure x
Same happens when I add shipping options! It's so confusing when I try to consolidate the listings. It takes them so long to repopulate. Some things aren't immediate. Thanks for the heads up!
I know it's worrisome to end and relief so much, but there is a bright side. All of your listings will be new! Many people searcH by new items so you'll have a fresh start! Thanks so much for sharing this info!!! Good luck!
* relist not relief
That is true. Hopefully I see the boost!
@@backfromburnout are you going to add a new date in the sku?
@@genevajean7973 not this time as I’ll know when I did this but I’m very grateful to have that information in my SKU as I would have lost that history
Crazy that result, thanks for sharing Mel
How to kill eBay sales lol
Honestly. Unless the whole of eBay have seen this drop there’s defo something fishy going on
Omg.
Wish you luck.
Awaiting your next video.
🤪
It's interesting to watch what is now happening
Yeah, Ebay can be full of booby traps at times!! Never mind Mel, I'm sure the sales will come flooding back in again soon! Another great video, can't wait for the next instalment!
This is due to Promotion laws in different country's, they just have a flat wait time of 7 days which meets all of them so no issues - ending the item and relisting makes it a 'new' item which bypasses the laws
I wonder if that’s the same reason we have to wait two weeks between running sales in our stores
That's correct Mel, otherwise it would be 24/7
it is indeed, also why if you lower a price on an item you cant then stick it on a sale as the new items price has to be the same for 14 days before going on sale
@@jdnetwork-reselling yep. It’s different in America though. Lucky them!
I wonder if this would also apply if you are a USA seller only? Anyone know the answer?
eBay definitely "Cork" your accounts unless you use promoted listings.
It was immediate drop in sales and impressions. Scary how much we now basically rely on this for the sales!
At what % do you promote ?
@@juliedubois5650 2% lowest possible here
I would take what customer service tellls you with a grain of salt, I lost count the amount of times I was given incorrect information, pretty much every time I contact them unless I ask to speak to a supervisor. I believe what they told you
about waiting 7 days is incorrect.
I ended my promoted listing them went into bulk edit and added the new campaign from there. No need to end and relist or sell similar
My issue was I paused it so nothing came across to the new campaign
Thanks for the tip. I've done end and registered but hated it. Because all itmes get out of sync in terms of when they were listed.i had about 700 items and I did that with 200 items, now the first 200 items show up as newer listing to the other 500. I'm over it now. I have a better inventory system now, so it doesn't affect me as much.
Can you do a video on how your relist in bulk, please. My weights seem to disappear when I end & sell similar.
I'll talk about it next video but don't rush and do it as you have to be careful doing it.
I usually end and delete my old campaign and make new one and it works. I think pausing it stuffs things up.
Yes I think the pausing was the issue! Never again!
you poor thing Mel! lots have already commented but i was also told from someone who changes their promotion percentages for their whole store every week to always end a campaign and then delete it, wait a few minutes, create a new one and all the listings are added. I hope your new promotion ideas increase your sales!! take care x
Thanks Mel, as always, very informative
Glad it was helpful!
I agree, if you end the campaigns instead of pausing, the listings will transfer over to the new campaigns in around five minutes.
Because I was experimenting I thought I’d just pause it, start a new campaign to trial and then if I wanted to I could go back to the old one. I didn’t realise what an error it would cause !
@@backfromburnout I didn’t know that either but good information to know!
On the positive side, I see two books I want on sitting in the background 😂
LOL which ones?
That’s odd, I have a new promotion start each week. Never had items not roll right into the new campaign after ending the old one.
I think it’s because I paused it not ended it
@@backfromburnout Ahhh! Yes, that makes more sense- I’ve never used the pause, the system still had all your items still stored in the original promotion. Thanks for clarifying!
OMG Mel. What a terrible thing to happen. Good luck with the ending and relisting. When your 7 days is up will both the new campaigns start then so if you havent finished relisting all the listings
you wont have to? Cant imagine having to relist nearly 4,000 items. Dont overdo it, please.
I can relist in bulk if need be so it’s not really time consuming but it does reset some of your listing details which isn’t great. No it won’t go into both as only the new one is active.
Agreed. I think they only show promoted listings for a lot of things these days.
My organic impressions dropped on the days I wasn't promoted
@@backfromburnout Interesting.

We had a really rough weekend too and didn't change anything - have heard the same from a few other Aussies as well. I think being the first weekend of school holidays (in nsw at least) has alot to do with it.
Possibly but I can see mine on the graph is a huge drop without the promoted listings working as they should have
Yes school holidays, long weekend ( we had Monday off in WA), Perth Royal Show, Grand final. Mind you I had one of the busiest weekends in ages 😆
I can bulk relist but it’s not something I’ve ever wanted to do.
This was so informative, love your personality. Thank you!
I think my issue was I paused it. If I had deleted it and then started a new campaign then the listings would have transferred across
I don’t know why eBay told you this. You don’t have to end and relist the entire store. You just have to end and delete your original campaign from eBay. I’ve had this same issue before!
I think the issue was because i paused it not deleted it.
Interesting Angie Resells forgot to restart her campaign and tanked her sales for multiple days. Crazy!

Yes I find it frustrating they don't tell you things like that. Also I discovered you can only use the help chat service once a day 😆
I was wondering... when you look at your traffic tab in the seller hub, what percentage of your impressions are top 20 search slot?
I’ll see if I can add that to the next video for you
@@backfromburnout I never promote and 20% of my impressions are in the top 20 search slots.

🤦🏻♀️ so sorry Mel hope relisting helps.
Hi
Yes the 7 days was because I paused my campaign. If you are starting a brand new one hopefully yours will kick in faster then mine. I have seen a increase since adding back the promoted listings so they definitely make a difference to sales.

Keep up the good work 😊
Very helpful. Hope your sales pick up.
They are! Stay tuned for my next video
Are the 800+ impressions because of the promoted listing, or just because you relisted them (so they show up "new" again)? As a buyer, I'm always looking at items by time listed, to see the new ones first.
It will probably be some of both as that chart/page was the promoted campaign chart and it shows both organic and promoted.
Hang in there Mel! You can do it. Just another challenge along the way. 😊🙏
Well, I do like a challenge LOL I think the universe knows it now ha ha
What if you edited your previous campaign instead of pausing and making new one?
That could have been an option
This happened to me about 6 months ago when i tried to start a promotion my sales went though the floor
Oh no! I don’t understand why they don’t have a pop up warning!
Mel I have never had to wait that long. But I think if that was me. I would just turn the 5 percent promotion back on. Then you should be fine.
I think it was because I paused the campaign instead of deleting it. 😬
Oh, no! Sorry, Mel! :(
Crazy how it dried up that severely!
After I begin a new promotion, I have to bulk edit all of my listings to my new campaign. Then, they are picked up.
Thank you for sharing!
Is there any way of backing up listings?
Not really that I know of unless maybe by using a third party lister.
Oh this is huge … so… you create the campaign and after you add the listings that you have ended and sell similar right ?
@@2AussieThrifters I'll just leave as is as I followed your advise
@@thetreasurehuntingboomer everyone’s store and stock is different so always worth seeing what works for you as maybe categories you sell in will be different and require different %’s
@@2AussieThrifters I'm hopeless at all the number and understanding algorithms so I have no clue it's ok I'll bumble along as I do
I think it will depend on your niche Nelly.
I cannot wait to see how this goes for you 🎉
Fingers crossed!
(all of that can go in the new campaign)
7 days with no warning is completely stupid.
True! I'm so much slower listing on this new tool though! Arghhh
@@backfromburnout I find the new tool faster for me now that I've gotten used to it. The only part that's absolutely horrible is switching categories manually.
And now would be a perfect time to get used to it. ;)
What a horrible policy by eBay. What is the whole point of waiting 7 days. That makes no sense at all.
It seems it was the pausing that makes you wait seven days.
Yeah, if you aren't promoting your listings, eBay puts your listings way at the bottom so you don't get any sales. It's so dumb.
Crazy how much drop they gave me! I don't mind paying if it brings the sales but I will never pause a campaign again!
Thanks Mel great video hope your sales picked up 🙈
Me too! Thanks for watching!
I think it depends on your niche and how saturated it is. I don’t mind paying the fees if it increases the sales.
I just recently got a complete set of 1937 encyclopedias and have no idea how to value them.
the good old ebay smack down for not giving them more $$$ .
LOL, yes thats for sure!
Ooh shit I did the same thing after the All Ears talk. Oooh shit makes sense :) I thought it was just because I was lazy !! 😂
I'm not sure I would have relisted the entire store. What if this experiment with the 2 new campaigns doesn't work the way you intend and you want to go back to the old way. Will you have to relist again?
Just wondering if you changed anything in your titles or description when you ended and relisted your items?
if you just end your campaign rather than pause it, the new campaigns would have been fine, you just need to leave it a few hours before doing the new campaigns
It also maybe depends on the niche. I sell in a saturated niche so it's probably even more important to pay for the promoted listings.
@@backfromburnout I kind of do as well plus some unique collectibles on occasion, I deal mostly in videogames, board games, books, toys and a few other things. I follow you all the time and over time have learned a few tricks about selling books from you. So I figured maybe i can make a few suggestions that might help you as well.
Did you end and relist or end and sell similar?
I did yesterday! Ill update how that goes. Eeeeek
Hi I watch ur video n help me a lot one question do u just do Australia wide or world wide ebay selling
