Hi, my name is Jen I am 44 and live in Connecticut with my husband and 8 year old son. I am a stay-at-home Mom and full-time TH-camr with a degree in business with a focus in marketing. Before leaving work when my son was born, I was a commercial lender at a bank. I also worked at Sephora and Macy's doing visual merchandising.
I have dry skin with some hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I love natural makeup looks but occasionally go outside my comfort zone a little bit. Seriously. She is one of the best. And ssoooo kind. Idk why anyone would deliberately bash her or do anything remotely mean, actions, or words. She's sweet as candy. I really like Allie G for her kindness, but Jen is by far my favorite. There is a Hispanic chick I like as well but can't remember her name. They just seem to stay to themselves and out of the drama, which I really appreciate. The beauty community is so toxic these days thanks to the tik tok brats (as I call them lol). Jenn you are a doll. So natural, good natured, honest as you are permitted to be while toting the zillion dollar machine of the world of cosmetics. It's massive. It does make me LOL when you say "and I'm 45," cuz once you pass 55, you'll look back and realize how 45 is tantamount to a fetus compared to 55+. Things change sooooo much on your face. 😔 We are similar coloring so that's why your choices are so helpful to me. Tbh I'd never crossed over to drugstore products until the Pandemic because it was the only thing opened in Canada - those Walmart and larger grocery chains that also sell makeup. Buying them gave me a little boost but I went right back to my premium products, e.g., Lancome Cils Booster for $43 Cdn (our makeup is more expensive than in US vs $9 for the lower tier L'Oreal product. But since delving into your Channel in a huge way and reticent to admit Ms. Frankel's channel 🙄 I have gone more toward dupes for high end products, produced NYX, ELF and Milani. I keep trying to stop watching and even unsubscribed so I wouldn't watch so much but re-subscribe soon after. You're definitely easy to watch. Thanks Jenn. You're every nice girl's friend. Btw we have like zero choice of cosmetics here vs the choice you have in the US, plus they're 35% more. So consider yourself very lucky.

I pay attention to every recommendation you make for dry skin. I have an oily T-Zone (small t) but everywhere else is dry including my body. Don’t listen to the negative Nancy’s! You’re doing well, IMO.
Jen, you are beautiful, kind, and genuine, to list a few of your sweet attributes. I love your affordable content. You are appreciated! Also, your eye makeup is so very flattering, it enhances your eyes, making them appear even more big and gorgeous.
I instantly bought that elf primer before they even announced it was live. Lol. I love it. I do love the tatcha balm one and I enjoy it. The new elf is to be put on and then you're supposed to really tap it in. I saw someone do a review and they didn't like the elf that much but they didn't even read the directions on the new elf, they just swiped it on.
I love the idea of swirling all of the PF contour shades together!! Genius! They looked great!
As someone who gets evaluations regularly (I do a lot of training & conference presentations), I would really encourage social media people to follow the techniques that I've used. I've also coordinated my colleagues' presentations, and I never allow people to see their individual evaluations for about a year of presenting. I give them aggregates, lots of positive feedback, & extract whatever constructive criticism they can handle. Some people can't have any for awhile as they get past the pure stage fright of it. It takes at least a couple years to get to a place where you can read your own feedback and have it be helpful. I will say, it would end my career if I ever fussed about evaluations, and I've gotten some bizarre and hurtful comments. But it's counter productive to focus on that, and hints at the possibility of future pain. It's actually really important to work on handling negative feedback gracefully, it's more professional and easier on the psyche.
I am normally fine with negative feedback. People tell me all the time that my background is too distracting, or I'm speaking too fast, etc. And those are all valid constructive criticisms and they don't bother me (and if any of them do, I don't dwell on it). However, the dozens of comments I got on my skincare video pushed me over the edge because in the video I specifically stated that I do not use Botox (I even wrote it on the thumbnail), and people were still telling me that I was lying. I've worked so hard to create an honest platform here and to see my integrity getting called into question crossed the line from "negative feedback" to harassment and I needed to stand up for myself. It's not something I do often but I think it's important sometimes, in certain situations. :)
I love all things drug store, but I did actually like how the CT eyeshadow looked better than the Moira one. You could also mix a lengthening mascara with a volumizing one. I do that and it makes my lashes look fantastic.

I can't deal with lip products that taste bad. I have tossed lipglosses & balms in the garbage for this reason. It's always disappointing when you like the color & formula but it just tastes nasty 😝
Same. I despise all flowery lip products (I'm looking at you, L'Oreal Dior YSL Lancome 😂... The list goes on). You know, when the e.l.f. Ride or Die lip balms were updated with the black cherry shade, I was PSYCHED because I love that shade and the neutral undertone of it. But it always tasted like I had soap in my mouth, whether I licked my lips or not. Awful.
I can't deal with ANY flavor or fragrance in lip products. It's a strong preference that's a pain. Almost all lip products are scented or flavored!
Also, about 30 years ago, I broke out with a rash on my lips that I'm pretty sure was a reaction to a heavily scented CoverGirl lipstick. It took a couple of weeks for my lips to heal, and there was a lot of ugly peeling. Lesson learned!
Yeeees, Jen. I have been telling people for years that drug store brands are just as good as high-end luxury brands. In fact, the lipstick color that looks best on me is made by Covergirl. And I bought 6 tubes of it and didn't pay more than $7 ea. Twenty years ago, I would only buy luxury brands, but switched to drug store brands. Then I stopped wearing makeup for about 18 years. Now that I'm getting back into the makeup game, I only buy drug store brands. I will buy a luxury brand, but only if it's on sale because I don't wear makeup everyday and afraid it will all go to waste.
Thank you for reviewing Moira. I absolutely love their products. So much bang for your buck. The Duochrome eyeliners are so long lasting and the Set and Correct Loose powder in 001 is a dupe for the Huda Cherry Blossom powder - and looks amazing under the eyes, just like the Huda.

I had the hard candy melts on my Walmart list for the longest time… I’m so glad that I watched your review before purchasing I really like the wet and wild rose balms… And I will take their wet newspaper and rose taste and smell over something bitter.😅

I bought the L'Oréal Infallible Bronzer because of you and how much you love it as well as it's one of the few Bronzers that's suitable to my fair skin
The Moira eyeliners are stunning in person! I have the turquoise blue that shifts to a deep purple and a purples that shifts to bright blue. They wear great in the water line, so if you have hooded eyes and can’t wear them on the top lid, they will work great on the lower! I also picked up a Moira lipgloss and it is seriously one of THE best lipgloss I own! It has an incredible shine that is mirror like and it’s so comfortable! Not overly sticky or messy and it lasts a decent amount of time for a gloss!

I love this type of videos, very helpful to decide what to purchase or not, thnx Jen! 🤗... I don't know how I feel about e.l.f. launching new products/dupes/wannabes every 5 min, but I haven't been a fan of their putty formula (primers/bronzers/blushes) they dried out in just 2-3 weeks, no kidding 🤨 I think they sometimes sacrifice quality in order to release products faster... rant over 😆... about the Hard Candy lip oils, I was looking for them on Walmart's website just a few dys ago (my local store doesn't carry HC) but I couldn't find them, boy I'm glad I didn't! who wants to eat soap? 🤣 I feel for you... great video, as always 💯... hugzzz 💜

Hi Jen! I wanted to share a tip I got from Zabrena that actually prevented the covergirl mascara from smudging on me! I just dusted the tips of my lashes with a translucent setting powder and it worked like a charm. I’m so happy about it because I LOVE the way this mascara looks!

I used to use the elf poreless putty primer in the pot as an eyeshadow primer. It worked really well. 👁
Hi Jen! I’m really excited to try that new Physicians Formula bronzing trio, especially the darker option! I’m typically tan to deep, so I find the OG butter bronzer & other face products from PF too light for me. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for it!
Love your eyeshadow amd how the Nyx pencil looked on your cheeks.
The PF eyebrow gel wand...the flat side is to lay down the product and the bristles are to brush it throughout. Hope that helps.
I actually tried that too but the flat side didn't seem to have much product on it either.
The multichrome liners are popular to be used in the lower waterline, so maybe you can use that way if you're comfortable with it. So disappointing about the Hard Candy lip products. I was so excited about them, especially the balmy lipstick. I'm allergic to strawberries, so while everyone has been so excited about the Tarte ones, I've been having to stay away. So I was really hoping to see a good substitute, especially if it was drugstore.

What all do you have on your brows. Besides the too faced fluff and hold? They look amazing!
Thank you so much! I use the TF Fluff & Hold first and brush them into place with that. I let it set and dry while I'm doing other makeup and then I fill them in with the NYX Lift & Snatch Brow Pen in Ash Brown. It looks really natural!

Hi, Jen, and thank you for another awesome and informative video. While I haven't tried those particular Hard Candy lip products, there was one quite some time back that was getting pretty good reviews so I purchased it. The color was really pretty as I recall, but I threw it away after the first application. The taste was beyond horrible and very persistent. OMG, it was just unusable. This really puzzles me, too, as I feel HC does a really decent job of product formulation; why on earth would they allow their lip products to taste so very bad?

I can’t wait to get my hands on the new Elf products! I want that primer so badly 😮. Every time I see a demo of that primer the persons face looks so smooth! It definitely makes a noticeable difference. I also want that under eye brightener really badly too. I’m going to get those two things, and their new SPF setting spay. Elf is coming out with so many great things lately!
If you use a gripping type primer, and want more follow up with a putty type on top after the gripping one dries down a bit.

I have naturally thick eyebrows and tried the Physicians Formula Brow Gel and it Flaked off...I was not happy! The ELF Brow Gel is much better in my opinion 😊

Jen, I also was unimpressed with the Hard Candy Glosstopia lip oil. I bought the deepest one and it smells like cheap soap. I am trying to use it up as a lip prep in the morning, but I can't bring myself to reapply it. I do like that InstaPout lip melting balm, though. Scents are so problematic sometimes; they're so subjective.
I got the Hard Candy lip products before this video was posted and I had the exact same experience! I felt like I was putting perfume on my lips when I put on the lip oil because it was so scented and the scent does not go away. I loved the lip melt at first, but I licked my lips about a half hour after applying and it was so gross, I had to remove the product and brush my teeth. That's what I get for not waiting to see if you would review them (I usually only buy a new makeup product after I hear what you have to say). OMG I should have brushed my teeth because even after taking several sips of my drink it wouldn't go away. Ugh...
I have the Hard Candy melt in The One. ❤ it. No weird taste for me. It’s plumping- smooth and glossy on the lips.

Hallo Jen. Loved this. I haven't tried the elf primer yet but I feel the nyx marshmallow primer is similar to tatcha liquid primer. Both just feel so nice.
I definitely want to try the Elf Liquid Putty Primer but I want to finish the new griper primer I just bought last month 😂😂 I would love to try the Hard Candy Lip Oil but none of my local Walmarts carry Hard Candy.
