Sumi Jo’s wide range of repertoire is impressive. There are many great opera singers but none match Sumi’s range of repertoire. She just is so confident to show off her flawless technique in every piece.
I've not heard this before: it's impossible (for a mere mortal) to sing; it's impossible to remember it all. However, a goddess (Sumi Jo) can do all that, make it sound fantastic & look beautiful doing it - the one & only Sumi Jo.

Fair enough. I am a bit smitten with Sumi Jo. But I am a bit of a newbie regarding opera, so my baseline exposure is more limited than many others, although I know of Sutherland, who is the benchmark of many. I must check Dessay out. I saw a snippet of her singing, and thought she was good. Any particular performance of Dessay's that you think especially worth watching? I like Elina Garanca, but am very taken with Anna Netrebko. I think she's in the league of Joan Sutherland. Or maybe her own
Operacrazed : vous les aficionados de Maria Callas, arrêtez votre propagande américanophile, sans doute elle a été une bonne soprano pour l'époque mais surtout pas " la référence " c'est faire injure à plein de très bonnes sopranos dans le monde entier, par moment elle chantait faux et ne maîtrisait pas toujours son faux vibrato en fin de phrase musicale, et puis elle était aussi largement connue pour ses frasques que pour sa voix, alors s'il vous plait un peu d'honnêteté intellectuelle serait je crois bien apprécié !!!
