    The Boeing 717 may be a small plane. But it is very powerful, and takes off like a rocket!

    The Boeing 717s make a very distinct sound. All that power compared to the equally loved JT8Ds. The Boeing 717 is the perfect fusion of McDonnell Douglas and Boeing.

    At 0:14 about 2 years ago I was on this same runway!! I was going ATL to PBI, and I think I was on a md-88 or 90 I can't remember. But I also saw that their were planes Lined up all the way down the runway! It was truly an amazing experience ;)

    You can’t beat the sound of the 717

    You know I haven’t been on a plane in a while if I say the Boeing 717 with airtran was the last plane I flew on.

    0:33 That’s a long line. FYI I flew on one of these before I flew out of here once and then we had to go back to the airport because we had a problem with the Jet it was heading for Scranton Pennsylvania

    Just now seeing this video. Interesting that you're on a Delta 717, while there were still some AirTran 717s

    Except for the 717, aren't the MD planes now pretty long in the tooth?

    • @boffis123
      @boffis123 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they are, here in Europe MD-80s and 90s are pretty much extinct. Same with MD-11 who dosent fly in passenger service anymore.

    I want to strap on two GEnx jet engines on an eclipse 550 and strengthen it a crap ton so it wouldn't collapse.

    I'm surprised to see there was still as many AirTran 717's left at the time. 2:25

      May be an older video because those look to be DC-9s.....

    • @uscjustins
      @uscjustins 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jjo7119 Airtran was still flying the 717 at this time. Southwest had already purchased Airtran and was winding down the Airtran operations. 717s were being leased to Delta and as they exited the Airtran fleet they were converted to Delta spec and delivered to Delta. There are no DC9s in this video.

    Nearly passed out due to how clear the engine was

    Hm, never heard that motor sound before. Sounded like someone slowly revving up a Dremel until the buzzsaw noise really started kicking in.

    • @ThatGuy-ob2yw
      @ThatGuy-ob2yw 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That buzzsaw sound is the turbofans once they exceed the speed of sound. Just like why propellers have such a heavy sound as well

    Starts with right aileron down - take it that was a cross wind take off...!? Looks a significant amount of aileron to begin with - looks like there's no 'roll' spoilers and inboard aileron on this earlier model.

      Well basically for McDonnell Douglas planes sometimes it’s like that maybe from after landing if pilot still had that way the only thing it actually moves is the smaller one that follows the air and moves the bigger one
