15:54 actually it's in a deleted scene Jack tells Beckett that "people aren't cargo mate" because Beckett had asked Jack to transport slaves and instead Jack set them free and thus is how he got deemed a pirate.
The “based on your fate you already live in misery” is a wordplay on the term “misery” and the US state of Missouri, which I think is where starlord was born
20:45 "Gibbs, Plan B / Plan B, Gibbs" - With the parent issues coming up, I wonder if that's a sly nod to the Plan B "morning after" pill to prevent having children?
"Ask nicely, or the rodent won't say hi to Yondu for 'ya!" is talking about how Rocket basically died for like a minute in Guardians 3, so he would've been able to see Yondu at the other side
"I saw that dude on Counter-Earth when he was selling meth" was taking a jab at Davy Jones and the events of the 3rd Guardians movie, where there was a literal meth-dealing octopus on Counter-Earth
"There once was a kid with no ounce of a clue, abducted and ripped from his house for doubloons" - Peter Quill is abducted by Yondu, who was paid to deliver him to Ego. "Deprived of a childhood, he's now a buffoon, like his brain had been draining the fountain of youth" - Basically calling Starlord a manchild, with only his brain being kept young. Although it could also be subtly calling him braindead, because drinking straight water from the fountain of youth will kill you. It must be mixed with a mermaid's tear to actually give youth. "Your state is a place you don't need to be visiting, based on your fate you already live in misery" the US state Starlord was born in is Missouri, which sounds like misery. "Can't call you son if you're not a son to someone, skimmed through your bloody films and thought, where's the mum gone?" - every parent figure Starlord ever had (his mom, Ego and Yondu) died in front of him. Meanwhile, Jack's parents live in Tortuga (his father Cap'n Teague is the undying keeper of the Pirate's Code, and his mother... His father keeps her as a shrunken skull ornament)
The part with Jack and the slaves is not just a theory, its actually cannon. There was a whole backstory explained in books that came out around the same time. Becket (the villain from pirates 3) ordered Jack to cargo slaves, Jack refused, so Becket burned his ship down. Jack made a deal with Davy Jones to get the ship back, but it was forever burned, thats why the Black Pearl is black. The whole thing Davy jones comes for in the second movie is to get payment on that deal.
which he of course does by calling for what he knows Jack wont do, and that is hand over the 100 souls such is like Becket originally charged him with.
Had to set some time aside to watch this one! I'm impressed by how many references you picked up on right away, there are definitely ones I didn't get till after the video was out /.\
Listen, if Chris Pratt cant be bothered to try and sound like whatever character he is portaying in any given movie, then id say the guy doing the starlord thing is just doing a spot on impression on their part
If I remember correctly, the “shanty” mostly kind of disses Star Lord’s whole story by expressing how comparable and/or predictable it is to the Pirates films, but I could be off on that. It might also have to do with Star Lord being emotionally driven to a fault. I dunno, that was my initial guess 😅
Star Lord does say "eff that" in his 2nd verse. The reason Sparrow brings up the "head pop like popcorn" is because in GotG 3, Adam Warlock saves Star Lord from dying in space (Star Lord lost his helmet in GotG 2). Adam Warlock ("the guy with the eyebrows") is who Sparrow was referring to when he said there was gold on Star Lords ship. He's basically saying that Star Lord would have perished for good without Adam, since the rest of his team couldn't save him.
Some great bars there especially for Mike, and Freeced did an awesome impression, but I lost it at Stupes! I’ll bet the rest of my doubloons that they didn’t even have to buy the outfit… (Also, is that BassedOlaf in the blueish vest with a sword?)
I don't know if you didn't catch it, or just didn't mention it, but the shanty part? the instrumentals to that part was the same as drunken sailor. just a neat little tidbit.
I was so ready to fire up the keyboard to explain why you were dumb for not realizing the entire shanty was all about Starlord and not Jack's own films, but thankfully I had enough self control to not post it until after watching further to see if you figured it out.
It was for my song about Doctor Who! 😅 Shirts (and hats and more) with that logo available in my Spreadshop! Music video for "Doctor Who" here on my channel!
I loved your reaction as per usual, but as a random side note: is your shirt a Doctor Who reference? I had to do a double take when I saw the logo, lol.
Yes, it is! I have this logo on a bunch of merch in my merch shop, and it's in reference to my song "Doctor Who" which you can find here on my channel!
was Jack, in the first movie, predicting the events of the second? cuz he mentioned a tribe making him their chief in Curse of the Black Pearl, but the events of Dead Man's Chest haven't happened yet.
Johnny Depp has said he wouldn't do anymore Disney and, specifically, Pirates movies for, and I quote "$300 million and one million alpacas". It's part of the reason there were alpacas at the trial.
Not sure if you caught this since recording, but you didn't respond to it so I figured I'd tell you "Your state is a place you don't need to be visiting based on your fate you already live in misery" Because, you know, misery sounds like Missouri
Hey Insane Ian, I saw a cool Rap video with a low sub but his new video is insane, could you make an explanation video Title: Vanny vs. Spamton G. Spamton. RAP BATTLE (DGPRB) Thanks!
You’ve probably heard it a bunch since it’s release but you should really listen to “submissive and breedable” by smosh ft bbno$ (baby no money) it’s really funny and catchy!
I would, but I've already seen it! I love Tenacious D, but I usually only react to things I haven't seen since I like to do a "first impression" reaction. Sorry! (As a side note, I've been wanting to cover "Tribute" with my producing partner Ben for a few years now! 😅)
15:54 actually it's in a deleted scene Jack tells Beckett that "people aren't cargo mate" because Beckett had asked Jack to transport slaves and instead Jack set them free and thus is how he got deemed a pirate.
Jack said “distraction” and immediately noticed that his ship had been sunk. Star Lord played his part by distracting him via the rap battle.
"oh no the flags have the stupendium on them, whats about to happen" LITERALLY MY EXACT REACTION WHEN I FIRST SAW THIS BATTLE

This is a very good point 😅
The live in misery line is about the fact that Star-Lord was born in Missouri
If I remember correctly, the “shanty” mostly kind of disses Star Lord’s whole story by expressing how comparable and/or predictable it is to the Pirates films, but I could be off on that. can't give a specific battle but I'd recommend reacting to,(or even just watching) more Freshy Kanal battles
Ian: tells us not to pirate

I don't know if you didn't catch it, or just didn't mention it, but the shanty part? the instrumentals to that part was the same as drunken sailor. just a neat little tidbit.
Quill knows where Thanos took her, but he don't exactly KNOW "where" he took her. (if ya get what i mean...) 😎

...thanks?
😅
This battle is a breed of its own.

I see whatcha did there.

A great explained video! My favorite bit is on 20:36
You and my history teacher act and kind of look like the exact same person and it’s uncanny. Love the video!
I hope you could react to more rap battle stuff in the future.
Johnny Depp has said he wouldn't do anymore Disney and, specifically, Pirates movies for, and I quote "$300 million and one million alpacas". It's part of the reason there were alpacas at the trial.
When stupendium come in it is the cadence of drunken sailor
Dont know if you know this now but shoot for three is saying we could have a gun fight for a 3rd death not to do basketball
is this the same channel that had the mrbeast meme squid game rap battle thing?
Probably? I think Freshy did that one.
Yes
Not just that, but Mike Choe (the guy who voiced Star-Lord in this battle) voiced Seong Gi-Hun in that battle
Not sure if you caught this since recording, but you didn't respond to it so I figured I'd tell you
"Your state is a place you don't need to be visiting

Because, you know, misery sounds like Missouri
Oh nice! No, I didn't catch that, thanks!
That second verse was brutal. It hurt my soul as a fan of both franchises. Jack murderd Andy Dwire.
murdered-
*giggles* Ian! Are you a pirate? :D
Yarr?
oct the band that made dont touch my clogs. released another banger you should react to it. its called dim sum paradise
Already did! It goes live on Friday, or right now on my Patreon!
You should react to The Irish Drinking Song by Kyle Gordon

Title: Vanny vs. Spamton G. Spamton. RAP BATTLE (DGPRB)
Thanks!
Is it comedy? I try to only react to comedy songs here.
@@Insaneian Tough question. I certainly laughed at a few jokes but couldnt understand a few. In my opinion. Yes, it also got uploaded on April 1st

Starlords name is Quill
