If I could add something, I would say the Flying Cross Chop shines as a great option to get out of corners. If you find yourself cornered and feel pressured, you can Flying Cross Chop out of the corner and Alex will roll all the way to the other side of the screen, which ends up being pretty much unpunishable in most cases. I don't see enough people using the move that way.

Very well explained. Benn playing Alex since his release and trying to learn about the functionality of his moves. I did not know his v skill could set up heavy flash chop. I've been using it exclusively for Hk.

I hate how little love Alex got in the SF series. He is so fucking fun to play as, no two matches the same. You control the pace of the fight if played correctly and the amount of damage / stun he does is godly (and not cheap like some other characters were).

Great guide. The only thing I would add is that you didn't explicitly state that when he is in V-trigger Alex can combo into the lariat off EVERYTHING. You definitely show that ability, but you didn't specifically state it. Now I'm onto your Menat guide. :)

You can adjust the ranges of stun gun head butt on all strengths, so you can do point blank stun gun with no bar

Nice but you missed something important about his air catch throw ie DP+K/KK (that the EX version only can hit standing opponents, regular doesn't though) its probably been quite some time since this video, the V-system have been extended some since then... but still a decent guide...

I'm an NRS player, in MK i main Commando Kano and in injustice i play Bane, I'm used to playing grapplers so im thinking of playing Alex in sf5. How viable is Alex match-up wise?

thanks for the guide, my main is laura, but I need to start playing with other characters if I want to get good at the game.
I like Alex, I have been playing with him the last couple of days. Im having trouble with the slp link to hcf lp. I play with a gamepad, maybe is that? with laura I have the same issue, slp to hcf lp, I cant get it in the way that I want.

does alex have a wake up ?? everytime I get in the corner I get punched to death ...especially Ken Ryu or Akuma are pretty damn frustrating any ideas?

I main Alex and I have yet to find a good wake up for him. If you have meter you can always do a V-reversal, but he should have a wake up.

can you explain how the parry works on v trigger? is it auto parry 1st hit when you charge it? or you have to input hp+hk again to parry attack?

Boma Setyanto He will parry the next hit but right when he's about to sledgehammer, he no longer is in parry state. You can't wake up parry, meaning it has some startup, and if you want to parry multiple hits just spam. If you let go when Alex parries, he will not do the sledgehammer and instead will just do a parry like ryu's v-skill, meaning you can parry cancel into hyper bomb, flash chop etc. Parrying also refreshes part of his v-gauge during trigger.

In Street Fighter there is a bigger emphasis on footsies and fundamentals, whereas MK has more of a emphasis on combo optimisation and conversions.
