    great idea but how long will it work for most accessories only last 5 years at most. The wiring in my house is 40 years old . Could be a expensive job for customer in long term

    Used these for a couple of years, mostly in gardens. Great time saver, but not cost saver. Biggest issue is wifi units (last time I tried) only works on 2.4Ghz for programming.

    I bought two QURS2Ws (the 2 gang version of the switch @ 3:16) thinking that I could use the second switch on the landing to trigger one of the receivers in the hall switch and vice versa. Unfortunaltely, the switches aren't kinetic and can only switch the feeds that go directly into the box so I will need to resort to two pairs of single gangs - one pair in the hall and another on the landing. (This is partly a heads up for others and partly a feature request since Quinetic said they don't see much of a call for 2 way, 2 gang switches)

      Their product range is basically “switches to replace existing light switches” and “remote controls for those switches”. What you’re wanting is a module that is “one replacement light switch and one remote in one housing”, which seems like something that would be a fairly common use case, but also one that would be covered relatively well by a single plus a wall switch that you glue next to it.
      Or you could replace the existing switch by a bare receiver and a blanking plate, and glue a double sender next to it. Or even over the top of it.

      @@JasperJanssen I really like the idea of a double sender over a blanked off receiver - thanks for the suggestion.

    Think is better to use only Flexi PVC all time

    i was thinking of doing this with the current rewire but with ripping conduit out of the walls and everything we just wired everything up
    but it looks so easy to add a switch to say a bedroom nearer to the bed i may just do that, but only on my side...🤣

    Currently doing a grade 2 listed building which may end up being let out. Was thinking this could be a good idea to decrease damage to the property but could be a bit of a sod if you have to re-sync them all if there's a power cut?

    Just my opinion. . I think you would be very lucky to get 10 years life out of these. Probably less than 5.
    After that time if one switch went wrong you would probably have to replace the lot as a new one wouldn’t be compatible with the existing switches. I have been on jobs with a similar wireless switch system and reliability has been diabolical. I frequently go on jobs and the switches are 40-50 years old . Still working fine.
    I do appreciate they could be useful in a existing installation but only as a last resort

    What’s the warranty on them? will they still work in 40 years? what’s the carbon foot print if there all plastic (single use) ? Are they just another gimmick had lots of this sort of stuff before most I got out of it was three years the the relays or electronics wear out but a good old plate switch hard wired lasts a life time literally there’s food for thought.

    Would these work with Philips Hue bulbs - and stop guests using the traditional switches… (first world problems)

    • @paulhyland3528
      @paulhyland3528 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No hue runs on on the zigbee protocol where as these are rf. They have a wifi gate way where they may be able to be added to a home automation platform like Home assistant or open hab. Technically if these can be seen in home assistant along with hue you could automate the triggering of hue lamps ;)

    I like them also I don't like them. Well less copper less bashing out walls less work. Less job time less money. Just how many can be one one lamp. Also the receiver side what is the power draw. There always going on about stand by power. It all adds up just like USB sockets. It only a tiny out but then 500k of them not so small.
