E100 error is a damage to the Blu-Ray drive or a loose or damaged connector on it. If you have recently opened your Xbox One, check the connectors and verify that the connections are not damaged. Because the Xbox One can function normally without the connected Blu-Ray drive, until an update is needed, it will only advance to 50% +/- and stop.
well i destroyed those standing pins by accident when cleaning in tbh i couldnt do anything about it since it was very fucking tiny pieces of metal standing on its on with no help whatsoever

Figured it was a small piece that maybe fell off tracks and if not at worst it'd be a cheap fix to replace the disc drive. Opened it up n found a plastic comb inside the disc drive, removed it and before I put everything back together wanted to test it. Turned it on it took the disc then asked for an update. Got the e100 msg n after a few tries realized one of the cables was loose. This video helped. Thanks guy

The E100 error normally comes up around 60% meaning that the console couldn't communicate with the blueray drive. Try to unplug everything and plug it back in and make sure everything is plugged in as well. otherwise there might be an issue with the daugther board (the board inside of the blueray drive.) making the xbox unable to communicate with it. (could be a firmware issue in that case.) Switching to another blueray drive isn't recommended since the drive and the console is paired with each other at the factory. Meaning that if you were to buy another one the Xbox would still show E100.
I'm going to try this tomorrow. My xbox one s starts, then stops at %54, then says e100. It was dropped a long time ago, and it could have disconnected a cable. Thank you for the information. This is the easiest console I've worked on, although the error codes could be a little bit more elaborate. The cd drive doesn't grind, but it accepts discs, but doesn't read them. The hard drive is working perfectly, but I think it's a disconnected cable. Once again, thank you.

After trying to troubleshoot fixing my xbox, I ripped the ribbon cable which connects the front circuit board which contains the RF receiver. So I could only use a wired connection. Still for some reason I couldn't choose an option at the reboot screen, which led me to unplugging everything. I ended up buying a used Xbox One S anyways. But thanks!
no, theres no real update to be installed, I assume that its just a system restoration process to get the OS properly working again (for whatever reason). The only action that i could deduce being of any help, is just unplugging the hdd, CD drive, and wifi board and leaving it for just a few minutes in timeout. (make sure you say "Bad Xbox" just for safety measure). Then plug everything back in making sure the power supply is last to be plugged in. Then try turning your xbox back on.
Bro im trying so hard to get the wifi board off mine so i can actually see the cords (i bought this x box with the E100 error and im trying to fix it) and its so dirty i got some of the bust out and i pluged my x box in after taking both red cords out and the hdd connector and now it still wont work gonna try later tho

Over time the connectors can loosen from heating and cooling. Reseating the connections makes them more secure and able to communicate.
