Magnus himself said that he had a tough day today, it was only in this game that he finally hit his stride. The idea of moving the bishop from the h6-f8 diagonal to the a3-f8 diagonal was genius. Thanks James.

I've been giving it some thought as it happens and I've come to the conclusion that I agree with FIDE's action, I think when you can see that a game has been deliberately pre-fixed then that should be banned. Of course you can 'pre-agree' a Berlin endgame draw, but an arbiter can never prove you pre-agreed, even if it's unethical to pre-agree, but with this, it's so blatant that I think you can reasonably state that it must have been pre-agreed. I remember this funny draw between Grischuk and his wife as well lol, it's on youtube

So the opening was essentially a reversed Nimzo, which looked quite good for white. White probably started to attack too soon, as black's counterplay on the queenside was a bit too strong.
