This is great idea!!!! I'm still learning to use alcohol inks. So I just put it on. Use straw to blow it around, sometimes. Then spray with alcohol. And I'm done. Not too great. But while I learn, I think using stencils is especially good idea. So I will definitely do this. Thx for video. Austin,TX USA
They are beautiful Shel, I have not played with my alcohol inks in a LONG time, will have to try and remember to. I am going to see Mom in Memory Care and I have a midnight shift today, so sometime I better try and get some sleep.
Sleep is over rated LOL More play and less stress for us please. Got some not so great news yesterday and I just wanna hide from the world..but not doing it!
@@ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio Sorry you got bad news, wish I could help. Sleep is VERY necessary for me to function at an adequate level to work and not get hurt! 😄
Surprisingly, wax paper is still porous and will let fluid through. You would think it was sealed with wax but I guess the wax is not the kind that seals out water. Weird LOL
Hello Helena :) I sealed the paper with a clear glossy varnish product. This is to make the paper non porous so the alcohol ink can stay mobile. Alcohol ink is usually used on plastic or coated papers like yupo or photo paper so I wanted to make my thin collage papers more like those papers, but thin.
Lovely Shel! Love all the stencils and smooshing on that thin paper, it will layer so well!
Thanks so much Anne :) Yes, I love to use thinner and easy to tear papers in my collage work.
Shel, thats some beautiful colors. The alcohol inks really looked think! Great play . Have a great weekend. Sending big hugs Sherry
Thank you Sherry :) That ink is always so intense...love it.
Another great idea for all this alcohol link I have! Thx Shel!
Have fun with it!

Sometimes you wonder...why did'nt I think of that. Good idea, thanks Shel! 👍
Glad it was helpful Mieke :)

The Tim Holtz Puffer was designed for alcohol inks. You have better control over it than when you use an air can.
Thank you Ann :) My old pen puffer works just like it. Not buying a new thing LOL
that was so interesting to watch the process. I never expected those beautiful colored papers. Nice job, Shel.
Thank you so much Willow :)

You got some lovely pieces of tissue for future projects out of this.Sometimes experiments creat beautiful surprises..Was fun to watch 🥰
Thank you! Cheers Christine :) A video coming next week using some of these :)
I wonder if wax paper would work … could be easily torn for collage … might save you the process of sealing them. Just a thought, I haven’t tried it.

Gorgeous ☮️💟
Thank you! Cheers!
Hello. May I ask? First, you painted tissue paper with a transparent gesso?

I’ve never tried tissue paper or other porous surfaces for alcohol inks. Must try. PS: the frantic sped up video is a bit difficult to watch lol
