    Here in zone 8b in tx, I started spinach seeds in December. The first month growth was slow but by the middle of January, it loves the cool, not so cold, weather for growing. I've been harvest a big bowl of spinach every week and still going well. No bug damage at all too. I highly recommend growing them in fall and winter.

      That’s great! I planted few plants in garden in september, they’ve survived -12°C and I harvested them 4th time on monday four days ago 🙂🌱
      Happy gardening!

      @@Liap Hi! I'm new to gardening. Also got these seeds from Lidl, they're super fast germinating. What do you mean by "survived the whole winter"? So you sowed some more seeds before winter or the small leaves you left were able to grow through winter? I live in northern Portugal (zone 10) and temperatures here never go below 0 (which is already an anomaly). Thank you!

      @Venera Aitkul Hello! The small leaves I had left were able to grow through the winter. Slowly.
      Spinach is very cold-hardy and these survived -10℃.
      I grew these from fall, along with more plants growing in garden. Which are still producing and I will harvest them one or two more times before they will go to flower with lengthening days of spring.

      Hello. That's amazing! You can grow spinach for longer period of harvesting when You start them in late summer. You will be able to make couple harvests throughout autumn and winter and plenty in next year's spring.
      I am happy You like the content and find it useful, sending greetings to You from Slovakia 🍀

      @@Liap I'm going to grow them in a pot at home because I find it easier, but if I am gonna be planting it outside (I probably will in a couple of months) I will definitely take this tip and use it

    • @Liap
      @Liap  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rredulana You can already grow spinach outdoors and it will actually thrive. Spinach loves cool weather and has no problems with night temperatures below zero Celsius. And if You are growing them in pot, You can always bring them indoors if there is a freezing night.

    • @Liap
      @Liap  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, this variety is called "Matador". It's very similar to Bloomsdale - dark green leaves and producing for as long as temperatures allow it to.
      Thank You very much! ☺🍀

    Can you tell us about the chicken manure that you use and what are its benefits... Thank you

    • @Liap
      @Liap  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's composted chicken manure. I use it as a slow-release source of nutrients. When I have access to some 🙂

    Do you have the spinach containers out in full sun or do they need a shady area to grow?
    Also, should I fertilize the spinach seedlings or add the nitrogen fish emulsion after I’ve harvested the spinach?

    • @Liap
      @Liap  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, that depends on the climate and time of the year You want to grow spinach in. It thrives in cool weather (15°C / 60°F), so if that is the case for You, then it will grow best in full sun. However if You want to grow spinach in warmer temperatures, then it will need shady spot to avoid bolting.
      Assuming You grow it in good quality soil, it won't need any fertilizing, but if You want to speed up the regrowth after harvest, it can definitely help with that.

    Would that spinach grow if I use indoor potting mix ?

    • @Liap
      @Liap  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello, yes it would, but indoor potting mixes tend to be lighter, thus drying out faster. It may require more frequent watering.

  • @masauhmar636
    @masauhmar636 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can harvest throughout the year

    • @Liap
      @Liap  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Spinach is a cool season annual, which means you can harvest while the temperatures are cool. When the temperature rises to around 25°C spinach will want to bolt.

  • @kino7539
    @kino7539 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Can you start it indoors?

    • @Liap
      @Liap  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, and I recommend doing so, as higher temperature speeds up the germination process. Ideal temperature would be 20-24°C (68-75°F).
      But higher than that can cause you to get smaller germination rate.

    How do you stop aphids from attacking your plants , all my tomato , chilli , lemon and spinach plants are infested by aphids , hate them so much.

    • @Liap
      @Liap  ปีที่แล้ว

      I grow flowers that attract ladybugs. Their larvae are "always-hungry aphid-eaters" 😁
      But when that is not enough too keep them under control, I try to spray them down and use neem oil on plants.
