      @@HaseebElectronics have a great day sir. i am your follower here in the philippines. i have a question regarding this computer power supply because we can buy a cheap price of this a secondhand. i plan to make this ATX to supply my booster amplier with an input voltage of 45v dc, can i increase the voltage for up to 45v dc? how about the current because my atx supply indicates 25ampere 12v+ it means if i increase the voltage to 45v the ampere is the same 25ampere or it will decrease to 5ampere something. but how can i get 45v dc of this power supply. i hope you can read my message. thanks.

      You are most welcome
      if you are using computer power supply, most of time, maximum output can be taken from computer power supply that is 400-700 watts. while 12 volt section can provide maximum 200 watts in an excellent power supply.
      that will not enough to run your amplifier.
      moreover, you need to remove protections and then it is doable
      wishing you best of luck and success

    Thank you sir for being such a good source of inspiration to us. We so much value your depth of knowledge and experience in this field. I did modified my ATX unit and the output varied properly I'm yet to add a suitable load though. But I also want to point to a problem I encountered and what I did as a solution. Problem:>>>> After using this trick I noticed that power resistors at the output became very hot. Solution:>>>> I removed them know they were working as a dummy load and for current measurement purposely. I'll replace it later though with a suitable one. But i'm posting this because I know some people will encounter such. And I also want to ask if you as well encountered this same problem? ....... Hope to get your response or anyone's response.

    1- What happens if by mistake i short the output ? are there any other protections ? or should i put a fuse ?
    2- Is the same principle applies to other designs (mostly the ones using UC3842/3843) ?

    Can someone explain why psu is turning off when load is connected? Is that because load consumes more power than psu is rated for?
    What about normal work?
    How psu knows when to not cut off power?

    • @HaseebElectronics
      @HaseebElectronics  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      almost all power supplies have output supervisor IC, that IC monitors the output voltage for undervoltage and overvoltage and imbalancing between the output lines
      if any voltage drops, the second line will incraese, thus the supervisor ic will turn off the PWM controller IC
      in case any output capacitor gets open or short circuited or leaked, the volatge values on supervisor IC's input lines (sense lines for 3.3 volt, 5 volt, 12 volt) will change and it will terminate the PSON interlock to disable PWM drive
      please consult the datasheet for supervisor IC installed in your PSU's output stage

    • @HaseebElectronics
      @HaseebElectronics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      we cannot increase amperes, because the transformer is limited at a rated current, if we will try to draw more current by hacking the protection, it will cause to overheat the transformer, MOSFETs and it will lead to destroy it rapidly

      exactly perfect
      basically it was request from my viewers to disable the protection, as they are using in room coolers having 12 VDC @6-10 ampere. and this power supply shuts down without driving the load
      i am going to record a current limiting technique to control the output current, that will fifth video of this ATX power supply modification series
      part-1 = 631
      part-2 = 629
      part-3 = 634
      part-4 = 636
      next part = current limiting, (expected next week)
      after that = complete troubleshooting (possibly within 2 week)

      @@HaseebElectronics thnx sir pahle ki sari video dekh chuka hu
      Mai ek chota tip de sakta hu tl494 ka ek op amp Khali hai usme shunt se current sence karake error signal generate kar sakte hai..
      Jis se ek current limit ho jayega 😌😌

      @@crazychela6105 wow that is awesome
      nahi is atx design me shunt ka jaroorat nahi hoti. ye CT k voltage ko sense karti he

      @@HaseebElectronics uska connection kat ke inverting pe ek voltage khud se set karke aur non inverting pe shunt wala voltage sence kraenge jisse voltage aur current dono control ho jayega kyuki dono op amp ka output ek sath connect hai..to error signal bhi generate hoga 😀😀

      Why you disable the protection???

    Can this trick work on every ATX Power supply? Thanks

    • @HaseebElectronics
      @HaseebElectronics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      this trick makes it variable but the power supply looses the current regulation. so i am trying to add some external linear regulator to provide variable voltage and variable current
