since you seem to like causing yourself pain with challenge runs, how about combining two of your most painful ideas: All Moons Talkatoo%, but if you bonk, you wax your leg. With an extra caviat that if you softlock from Talkatoo, you have to go to another kingdom and complete that one first, rather than quitting and reloading, unless you only have 1 kingdom left

cjya, you’re not alone for missing the poison piranha plant. I missed it twice on my two 100% save files
you might have done this before, but you should do an all captures%. I think there'd be some interesting routing
that would be pretty fun

For the record, I did get the moon's where you look at a specific area through the scope capture, because I played super Mario 3D land... And they have coins in the game where you have to look at toad, but fortunately in that game, toads screams at you to look at him

The thing that stumps me about this run is how they don’t actually have you beat the game 100%. The run ends once your save file has the star next to it. But the issue is that this doesn’t signify that you’ve beaten the game 100%. Now understand that certain things just can’t be a factor most notably Luigi’s Balloon World with how max level works and all, but what about the 999 moons secret. Y’know, the one you get after literally MAXING OUT THE MOON COUNTER? Maybe it’s just me, but at the very least, I feel that you shouldn’t actually receive that save file star (and thus be able to complete the run) until you hit 999+ moons and throw Cappy onto that last knob on top of Peach’s Castle to unlock that final scene.
But hey, I’m not complaining, this was still super fun to watch (it’s CJ so ofc it’s gonna be fun). Good job on the run all the same 👍

What I’m looking forward to most in Odyssey 2 is moon water levels. Moon gravity is cool and everyone loves water levels so I think if you combined them it would be the perfect experience. The birthplace of the next generation of 3D Mario games
In fact, make the whole game water level moon gravity but also with limited controls like in 2D

What made the run invalid even before he used Luigi to get coins? I missed it
It's because he did it over multiple days. while breaks are allowed during the run, you only get 1 break and 15 minutes of break time per 4 hours that the run lasts. Otherwise it all has to be done in 1 sitting

One of the most frustrating experiences I’ve had in gaming was when I 100%’d Odyssey, and then my little nephew, who must have been about 8 at the time, decided to be a little a-hole and deleted my profile from my Switch.
I’m still so annoyed that I haven’t ever played it once since then.

I thought Odyssey supported cloud saves?

19:30 I actually did figure this one out on my own despite having to look up a bunch of other things, and this is because 3D Land has binoculars where you can zoom into Toads that give you Star Coins. I assumed "if there are capturable binoculars in only some areas, they aren't just for show"
EDIT: I do have to admit though, I also stumbled upon it by accident since I didn't know what I was looking for
CJ is wonderful and I feel like I can sum him up with one word, "BONK"
My favorite part was when CJ said "It's Metro time!" and metro'd right off that building into the abyss below.

I missed the Piranha Plant capture my first playthrough too... Felt anticlimactic having that be my final "collectable"

I still have not gotten 100 percent but I do have 999 moons
It took me I think "55 or more" hours to 100% it.
That was unpatched so I had to grind 9999 coins in that one Bowser's subworld to buy the 99 moons from each shop for true 100%
Then when I finished I decided to go and grab the update when I got wifi and saw Balloon World gave you like infinite free money, but added more stuff to complete so I was salty, still did that though

Run idea: shop until you drop. You have to buy the outfits at each kingdom and any gold coin costume you unlock in the run until you get to the skelly outfit.

idk why darker side was a million billion times easier than dark side for me. maybe i sucked at combat, or maybe the moon gravity was throwing me off. darker side was really easy, i finished it in 2 tries, and i beat dark side in a little more than 20.
Dark Side was also harder for me too but not by much I don't think.
Though I did die to the mech at the end, and I already got the Captain Toad moon so I ended up having to beat it without a heal

Fun Fact: in the moon menu, it keeps track of how many moons you've bought from each shop, up to 99. this means that, to truly max the game, you must buy 99 moons from every single shop. (which i've actually done)
