it's an original verse that often gets left out nowadays

To answer the costume/present question, he said that he’s an expert mannequin. So being in a specific position, he can always recreate them well. And gave us video proof, it’s like a video freezing. so neat to watch.

That's the original verse that has long since been dropped from most covers of this song.

Good eye! This is a set at Pattycake Studios, but green screen might also be part of the video magic.
The ‘verse’ you didn’t recognize is actually the original intro to the song. At the time this was written, there was often an intro that was somewhat different from the rest of the song. Often it was dropped in later recordings. For White Christmas, the intro didn’t fit into the movie Holiday Inn, so it was dropped right away, although some performances still use it.

In this one, he was smiling, big cheesy grin smiling. I love his smile! It's just about my favorite thing about this one. He's been doing a lot of somber/brooding, heartbreaking things this year, so I appreciated the happy in this one.

Hi Daniel! Great reactions. The verse you were questioning I believe it was Brad Steele that said it was a verse from the original song that no one seems to sing anymore. Blew me away because I'd never heard it either and I'm 63. Lol!

Yup, it's so interesting to me. And it makes sense that they dropped the original first verse because in Holiday Inn and White Christmas none of the plots take place in California.

That bridge is from the original intro for White Christmas

Holiday Inn (a 40s vintage B&W film) came before White Christmas (full color 1954 film). The original was changed a little in White Christmas. A superb Christmas song was put out by Voctave and featured vocalist Mark Lowry (and the lyricist) called "Mary Did You Know?". EJ Cardona (Omar's brother) has sung a few with VoicePlay and since his home is Voctave, I thought I would check it out. I had heard PTX and HF's versions and loved the song. This one by Voctave is amazing, supremely beautiful, sounds like a choir of angels, and powerful. Mark held notes longer than I thought possible. It should blow your socks off. I did watch your Merry Little Christmas and commented on it. You did good.

Yes it was indeed done with green screen, to get all the changes so seamfree. It's almost perfect, well spotted the Geoff in the white top. Check out the old film Holiday Inn, for which this song was written by Iriving Berlin, and sung by Bing Crosby. I don't know that the verse appears in the later film White Christams, can't remember now, or whether any other cover has included it. Geoff always goes above and beyond what you expect. Lovely reaction.

Using Geoff's more forward technique for bass singing has increased my resonance and volume considerably below C2. I have also found it improves my transition at the 1st passaggio, as well. This is what has always blown my mind about Geoff: he goes through the 1st and 2nd passage of his voice like it's nothing!

Thank you for another great reaction to Geoff. No green screen. It was on the same set as his Shenandoah video. Take notice to the floor lamp with no shade is the same as the one and Shenandoah only reverse to the other side of the room. Also the Geoff in the white sweater is wearing different pants with cuffs at the bottom. Their shoes also change. Their shoes changed from black to brown.

The sun is shining, the grass is green, the orange and palm trees sway, there's never been such a day, in Beverly Hills LA. But it's December the 24th, and I am longing to be up north.... The entire intro to the song, WHY he's dreaming of a white Christmas. (yes, I'm old.)

Actually, it's the same set he used for Shenandoah months ago. He first used a green screen with Ghostriders last October.

Sending what I found on Google:
    IRVING BERLIN
    "White Christmas"
    [Verse (omitted from film):]
The sun is shining, the grass is green
The orange and palm trees sway
I've never seen such a day
    In Beverly Hills, L.A.
    But it's December the twenty-fourth
And I am longing to be up north
    [Refrain:]
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
    Where the treetops glisten
    And children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
    I'm dreaming of white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

Bing actually left that verse out. The verse was original, but is usually omitted.
