      Thanks Dylan, the XS's lend themselves to some pretty good looking cafe racer's.

    PLEASE NOTE - This is a Mockup Build, not a complete build! I do this to help my customers save some cash. If you want the basic shape of the bike but don't want to spend crazy money, this is the way to go.
    The backhalf of the bike was painted to prevent rust and to not look janky while the customer rides it around for a bit and enjoys having a running and riding bike. The customer is going to be tearing the bike down to the frame and having everything powdercoated, and we will be rebuilding the motor and doing a 750 big bore. I repeat, this is NOT a finished motorcycle, I want to make that very clear. The cables will be shortened, the exhaust will be changed, the customer wants to do 18" wheels front and rear, finish de-tabbing the frame etc.

      Brother I really really hope that you post everything else that you do with that XS650 because man it looks awesome I seriously dig that look it is so bitchin dude, you have already done a kick-ass job on what you have done to her so far, I love that tuffside seat and I had no idea they actually made a seat like that for a XS650, I have been wanting to do a Yamaha XS650 build for the past couple years now and I do have a source that is going to be selling me a 1971 XS1B motor, unfortunately the people that owned the bike before chopped up the frame to make a chopper which is just unbelievable to hear because they chopped up a 71 xs1b frame!!!! I cannot believe they did that, I'd like to think that they just didn't realize how rare that bike actually is, but at least I will be getting the motor and I will be getting a spare early 70s frame for her because I have to build that bike I can't let it sit as is, I have to get it and will get it back on the road, and you have definitely given me some ideas thank you brother

    Amazing content man. About to start my first ever cafe project with basically zero experience and this is going to help so much. Do you know if that battery would work with a pma charging system and digital ignition? My charging system failed as well.

    Nice video. What brand of gas less mig welder are you using ? Keep up the good work!

    • @DoctorMotorcycle
      @DoctorMotorcycle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's the "Titanium" 250 from Harbor Freight. I was shocked how well it works. Granted I'd never welded anything in my life until 2 months ago but each weld is looking better and better.

      @@DoctorMotorcycle okay, thanks for the info (unfortunatly, I'm european :( ). Welding, especially with flux core is easy to learn, but hard to master. Keep practicing and you'll be great ! Your welds are not that bad for a beginner ;)

    Beauty of a build. I understand that it's just "mockup" but still!
    What are you using to grind down the remainder of the tabs on the frame? Flap wheel or grinding wheel? I'm working on my own XS650 build.

    • @DoctorMotorcycle
      @DoctorMotorcycle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used to use an 80 grit flap but it removes material too fast and makes getting it flat and round impossible. I wouldn't go any more coarse than 160.

    Excellent video regarding bike build 👍 piss poor regarding safety shorts no gloves did you bother with ear or eye protection ?

    • @DoctorMotorcycle
      @DoctorMotorcycle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wear a welding shield with the auto dim feature turned off when grinding + earplugs. Shorts are fine but probably ill advised lol. I hardly ever wear shorts, however the inside of the garage was 120 degrees in the middle of Arizona summer when filming this.

    Why is there no argon cup on the MiG welder

    • @DoctorMotorcycle
      @DoctorMotorcycle  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not a MIG welder it's a gasless flux core welder.
