@@simonmarktaylorsax I really don't have anything to show off. I am a late bloomer as a sax player- still learning at age 70. I thought I had my reeds figured out with the Fiberreed solution. However today I tried a Java red and it sounds so much better than the synth reed. When I first got the Link I could not play the Java #3 that I'd been playing but today I can do it. All I had to do is toughen up my mouth and put more of the mouthpiece in it. Sax playing is really an addiction isn't it ? And a good one at that.
@@davidcox8961 Yes it is! Its my life to be honest! As far as reeds go though, I have always found a warmer tone with real reeds. Synthetic or plastic cover last longer but tend to sacrifice tone in some registers of the instrument.
@@simonmarktaylorsax Besides lasting longer, the synth reeds are consistent in quality. Often with cane I wonder if my bad tone is a crappy reed. When I blow a sour note with a synth reed I know who to blame.
David Cox noooo... the sound comes from the player. A reed just makes it easier or more difficult to achieve. I have played with some world class players that could put a lolly pop stick on a mouth piece and make it sing. Hahahha
Hola Javier, la verdad no lo se. Jajaja, no es un Conn de los años buenos (antes de la segunda guira mundial). Pero bueno, a mi me gusta. Muchas gracias
Thanks Lewis. Various scales depending on the chords, but in a very general sense...pentatonic scales. More of a pop sound. For example on a D7 chord you could use a Dm pentatonic ( a more blues sound ) or Bm pentatonic (a more pop sound).
Hi Guy, I dont distribute any of the backing tracks. You can buy this one and many more from the Hal Leonard website. Its important to support the people who make these great backing tracks.

well done. It is a good tune to play with tenor sax. Your sound with Conn is wonderful. Have you made the bavking track?
Thanks! I didnt make the backing track, its from a Hal Leonard book.
I have the very same setup- 1960 Conn 10m with Link STM 7 tip. But I use a Hartmann Fiberreed, medium hardness. You sound good man.
David Cox thanks David! I’d love to hear some of your music!!
