This is the most thorough and helpful review of the Vigil thus far. Thank you for this. I think this is the perfect "all around" 1911 especially if you only plan to buy one.
I own two of these and you are correct that these are the best 1911s for the dollar today. I ended up selling my other 1911s after I bought these and there is no better bang of your buck than the vigil series by DW. Great review!
Thank you for discussing felt recoil with the lighter weapon. This indeed is the concern with light weight aluminum frames. You have done well discussing the tradeoffs.
I began looking around for a nice 1911 in my price range a few year's ago. About a year ago After months of research on different 1911s i kept coming back to the Vigil, I'm glade i picked one up! This was my first and probably only 1911 so i wanted something nice but not with the 2k plus price tag. I paid $1100 for mine and it is worth every penny! Thanks for the video!
Just picked up my vigil 9mm suppressor model , can’t wait to shoot it. Side note, the slide to frame fitment is outstanding and it feels like the slide is riding on ball bearings.
Very good review on the Vigil and it help me decided on buying one. I haven't gone to the range yet ,but will be going soon. Can you tell me please if the magazines are working well.I would like to purchase a few more. Thanks for the video.
At long last, I found a Vigil sub-1000, like new. This is my first Dan Wesson. I would have preferred 9mm but even in 45 this has comparable recoil to my steel-framed SR1911 with an accessory rail. Now I just need to pair it with an M16 build...
We have a Government and Commander-sized Vigils (both chambered in .45 ACP). Fantastic 1911's and a great value for the quality and features. If you like the commander size with a bobbed grip, Dan Wesson also makes the Guardian aluminum-framed model in .45ACP, 9mm, and .38 Super. I own one chambered in .38 Super, and absolutely LOVE it.
Currently saving up for a Vigil Commander. Great info in your video. I've wondered about the hammer rusting issue. Do you know if that is only occurring in areas with high humidity?
You have to be careful with a Dan Wesson. They are addictive. I don’t even know how many I have owned. Probably between 18 and 20. I currently have 6. The Vigil is a bargain.
My local gun shop has a vigil 9mm and a legion 229 9mm. Which would you pick if you could only get one? Also buying a suppressor so I am not trying to drop $3k in one day.
@@karlmarz5236 Interesting. I've asked Brazen Firearms if I could have a barrel and trigger nitrided, but they told me that aluminum could not be nitrided. Beats me. I'll have to take your word for it

Great video, I own the CCO 9mm version and use it for a daily carry, and could not be happier great value for the dollar.
Look into getting the DW Guardian! Best carry pistol I’ve ever had!

I have the ECO ..45. Awesome gun.

Those are beautiful.
Worthy 1911 for anyone's stable. Really nice shooter and one I'll keep and pass down.
The finish is Duty Finish, Not anodized finish! There is a big difference between the two! DW is among my favorite shooters!
Frame is anodized aluminum, slide is duty. The duty finish is a nitride, and you can't nitride aluminum.
@@KatoCoyoteCombatWorkshop 1 can nitride coat aluminum, anodizing is easier. Thanks

I really don't understand why 1911 manufactures use the ramped barrels for 45's including steel frames. It just stronger, more reliable
