He actually sounds a lot like SRV singing smoother blues. I was once listening to an SRV album and though "when did it go into autoplay to John Mayer" a few songs in
The dude is single-handedly keeping guitar-rock alive. Name another artist today other than maybe Joe Bonamassa that has not abandoned guitar soloing. Mayer is a triple-threat. He's not only a phenomenal writer, totally in-pitch singer, he's a monster guitar player. If you don't think so, you haven't been listening.
I don't get it why people hate him. I mean yeah, he made some mistakes in the past, but damn he's a human being. Not the perfection "I know everything and do everything right" itself. What a bullshit is this. In my eyes this imperfection is exactly what makes him interesting and lovable. He can describe all the feelings about being "not always right". Appreciate his heart, his songs, his lyrics and the human in him. I think it's worth it.
de Prado i agree. Its almost like his mistakes make him more real and relatable because if we were all in his spot im sure most people would make a few mistakes too
He is such a nice storyteller, he really knows how to speak and make it interesting. And somehow people are calling him egocentric for that, when he talks about himself in an interview about himself, really?!
Thank you for saying that the voice is an instrument! I've been a singer for over 40 years and I can no longer sing like I used to because of all the years of singing in smoky clubs. I now suffer from COPD, and can't hit those highs anymore. So I had stopped singing for a very long time. Trying to get back into it now, but I feel that it's a little too late at age 59. So glad that you were able to fix your vocal chords. I truly love your voice and have been a fan since you started and were playing smaller clubs in NYC. I called it, man! I knew you were going to be a big star! Thanks for all your do...and bless you for writing such great songs. Love your new CD! God bless and good luck! Hope to catch you on tour here in NJ!
That news was worth a really big pout, minimum! Tears were more than appropriate. And look at you now! A Vocal Genius, A Vocal Master, A Vocal 'The Man' and A VOCAL KING ❣💡🌟💎👑
I'm actually impressed! I just thought John Mayer was the typical spoilt celebrity, and seeing him so serious but laid back makes me think that he's much different - he isn't trying too hard to be funny, he's just being himself and that's working out for him!
2:30. The whole human body is an instrumental in activating/furthering "the voice". It is propelled by a number of factors. Starting from the toes (comfortable stance) feet position, breath control, projecting through the diaphragm, knowledge from the brain, repetition, rest and repair... everything bruh. The whole body is an instrument.
that doesnt mean shes a terrible interviewer.. she lets the person talk and get what they want to say out, which is the main reason for interviewing. She just put's small questions in to keep the convo going and then lets the person answer.
If you're talking about studio recordings, every song is touched up in some way. There's no going around that, with any artist. But he doesn't use auto-tune live.
Not losing his voice for three days, losing his voice IN three days. Three days after the shot he couldn't talk. He went through a period where he didn't talk to anyone. I know he couldn't talk for at least a month, and I think he refused to talk for about 6 months.
mine too! I was actually getting work done while she was gone and now everything is back to normal which means I'm back to catching up and turning in late work lol
A lot of people are like that I guess, myself included. I find that when I'm talking to someone I don't know too well, I rub my hands together a lot and twiddle my thumbs. Or I tap my foot. Must be something to do with confidence! You can see that John's a lot quieter and reserved compared to previous interviews.
Well said Nana Rana. the thing that always intrigues me about JM is something on his body is always moving, kind of nervously, when he talks. It's usually one leg or the other that is doing it. I get the sense the dud just can't sit still. I know he has difficulty falling asleep, but I'd give anything to half of his drive, push and energy.
Re comment Ellen a terrible interviewer - if that was the case she wouldn't be still doing a fantastic show for 10 years. Ellen is a great interviewer and so genuine and warm. She's fab!
He's an awesome guitar player and songwriter, but his singing is pretty simple, soft and flat, nothing too technical, I don't understand how he got this problem. Don't get me wrong, I love his music and his vocal melodies, they're perfect for his style.
rockboy360 Agreed. James Taylor sounds great to this day, because his singing style is laid back and easy.I never would have thought a voice like John's would give him problems.
Andrew Kim, As a full time, professional vocalist for 20 plus years, Mayer's voice does not sound strained at all, at any time. Straining , or singing on a voice that is tired, causes problems. The later, most likely being the cause, but thanks, mr. smart ass.
+Andrew Kim You guys are all kidding right? Its pretty obvious how John's whispery, husky, bedroom singing voice is the cause of his vocal trouble. I love it nonetheless but its not a healthy way to sing.
I've never been a huge John Mayer fan. His music is decent though his voice is great, and he consistently acts like a douche bag in interviews. This is the most likeable he has ever been. I honestly like him for the first time in the history of ever, just because of how honest he was about it, without going out of his way to make himself the victim. Bravo, John Mayer. Bravo.
I cannot believe shes dorys voice... Now everytime i hear her im just waiting for her to say "uuuuh sorry short time memory" and start talking random shi*t i love her and john meyer what a sexy voice laced with botox!
Derek Trucks, Rival Sons, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang, Henry Garza, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai...John Mayer is great and is a phenomenal talent, but let's not say single-handedly... if you haven't heard some of these artists, I would recommend them highly. Hope I turned you onto some new music!
lol - he didn't lose his voice for three days... The Botox kicked in after 3 days, then he couldn't use his voice for 2 years in order to allow his throat to heal.
There are a few out there mate. They're just not main stream. Bonamassa is amazing. This guys a phenomenal song writer but I wish he'd get out of this country phase. Continuum 2 would be nice. Listen to a guy from Britain called Aynsley Lister. John Mayer's old rhythm guitarist Robbie Mcintosh has shared the stage with him. He's awesome man.
Botox relaxes muscles, it also has a lot of other uses besides for cosmetic reasons. For example, some people get botox under their arms to stop sweat from producing.
He has a signature voice. No imitations no limitations very distinctive very rare
Kevin Shaughnessy indeed! He sounds like his nose is being squeezed by someone when he sings and he is boring which makes him even more rare!
@@firs5035 please shut up
Namelss solo woah man! no need to be aggressive!
He actually sounds a lot like SRV singing smoother blues. I was once listening to an SRV album and though "when did it go into autoplay to John Mayer" a few songs in
john mayer is rare buddy......
No one will ever understand how much I appreciate his music. He truly is a lyrical genius.
Taylor Meyers also a guitar genius
I think I can :)
I think most of us do fella, I really get what you're feeling, i'm there with you bro.
Same here.
@@derekbravo7811 - never heard of him and can’t find one thing on TH-cam that has Taylor Meyers in the title.

Jack White!?
Ed Sheeran
Ethan Foster r u Joking
Derek trucks sweeps the floor with all of them. Fact.
Jareesh Kebab trucks is amazing but so is John

What mistake did he do?
Please someone explain me
de Prado i agree. Its almost like his mistakes make him more real and relatable because if we were all in his spot im sure most people would make a few mistakes too
I could never hate such a genuine and loving man.
He is such a nice storyteller, he really knows how to speak and make it interesting. And somehow people are calling him egocentric for that, when he talks about himself in an interview about himself, really?!
I’m so glad John is well and doing great he is an amazing guy✌️✌️👏👏👏👍👍👌👌

It's been a year. Hopefully you're singing again.
His shadow days are over.

Thank God you're back, Ellen. Seeing your videos daily is one of the my favourite moments of the day...

I'm so glad his better now, and how his experience made him change even more!
I thought he was gonna cry on the interview ....💕 john
I don't care who he is or what he's done, but what he said at the end- that's important. Made me feel good about singing.

Sadder isn't a word John.
Agreed, considering the consistent quality of his live vocal work, it's pointless to imply that a lot of work is done digitally to his singing.
what a king.
I love you john, no matter what. Though I really prefer your songs way back rather than now...
Welcome back John!!
i love him sooo much
Love u mom
HES HILLARIOUS!
Awhh my future husband got a shot in his throat and cried! ;) Glad he's back & singing.
My idol right here...

He is the best blues player in the world.....
Tendu Sherpa well not of all time, but bew generation definetly.

He reminds me of Huckleberry Finn with his cool hat!
I love you John Mayer :(
Can we all just admit that now that Ellen videos are back, we will all go back to not being able to complete our homework? God, I LOVE this woman!
Finally, he's back on!
Can't believe John has been on the show a couple of times, wow

my bad, not you
+rockboy360 Good point! Like I would rather listen to Mayer than someone like Adele but Adele has much better range with her voice.
idol john mayer
Esta bien bonito. 😍
he wore hats way before he lived in montana gosh
I love him
Yay!
JOHN MAYER .....
Not to mention he's not bad looking at all. But luckily that doesn't overshadow the talent he has like most artists nowadays. ;)
Love you Ellen
I love you Ellen.
Idgaf if he was an ass or is, his music and his voice make just love him and admire his talent I can't even explain it I love his voiceeee
I wish people would actually listen to him, no everyone just copies one another and calls him names.
swag.

Are you still alive dude?
💕💙❤️
The play on words of the title :)
Just keep swimming just keep swimming :)
Dear Taylor, don't you think John was too old?
I realized I don't have a life, Ellen, don't ever go away again!
