This is one of my absolute favorite colors! I found a tube of it in a huge lot of Liquitex acrylics I bought off Craigslist and, questing for new greens, gave this a try. Imagine my surprise when I learned it was really a cool yellow… Mixed with white it matches the color of sunlight where I live, and it makes the most beautiful “golden hour” rose gold tones when mixed with reds or magentas. Green gold/azo green is my go-to cool yellow, I find it so diverse and useful in so many situations. It’s funny, those colors that seem so ugly or weak on their own turn out to be the most useful. I got a tube of terre vert in oil a few months back and hated everything about it at first: its clay-like consistency, its weak staining, etc. But it has become a star player on my oil palette, able to tone down almost any color without asserting itself overmuch, even with light yellows. Sorry for going on, I’ve just found myself nodding and saying “yes, exactly” so many times as I make my way through these videos. Your discoveries here about green gold just matched mine so perfectly here. It’s really heartening for this novice painter to see these parallels.

Of course you're employing the white ground shining through some of the thinner layers in these "whiteless" ... I'd be interested to see you work more transparently sometime!
