    You do all these servo test but it's hard to remember which does which to compare, it would be great if you could do a round up at the end, and put them all in a bar graph with overall torque, sorted by power volt X amps, and also them sort for Oz per $ 👍

      @RCiler 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@tonysweet9137 Why is it useless.. If you decide on a servo... a few clicks on the progress bar gives you the information about it. I'm just not sure why would anybody need a 47kg servo in a crawler.. other to use it as a boulder wedge in a quarry...That will break most crawler parts...

    My 1st RTR when I got back into RC was a Redcat Gen 8 Axe, and ever since Reefs has been my go to for servos, and Hobbywing for ESC and Motors. I have to Admit I have been thinking about building a purely Holmes Hobby crawler just so I can compare the two top dogs, at least from the word on the grapevine. Maybe on the SCX10iii chassis.
    I will add a Thank You, if I haven't already because your review was the tipping point on my 1st RTR and I still think my Axe is the best RC I Own, I did ungrade to an AXE FOC R2 540L 2800KV, for the wheel speed, extra punch, and for the dual mode to also use as a trailing truck.

    Have you seen the Boom Racing Python servo made to be axle mounted? It doesn't have tabs on the ends but has one rail down the side to mount directly to the truss or an adapter bracket. It looks very streamlined and waterproof with a 45kg rating. I guess you would have a problem trying to use your rig to test it but I sure would like to see how it compares.
    You guys are doing an excellent job and I thank you for spending the time and presenting it for us.
    Have you thought about how to check the calibration of your rig? It wouldn't be hard to put a pulley up at the top and a pulley at the edge of the table to hang calibration weights.

    What an awesome test! I actually saw this video a year ago, but re-watched it because I am looking for a new servo now. I noticed the hitec servo really had low amp draw, is it because of the regeneration feature? Also, does this hitec servo with regeneration (current back flow) feature cause problems with electronics like the castle esc’s or othe esc?

      Then the 444 might be your cup-of-tea. The 555 is the same servo with steeper gears for more torque but slightly less speed.
      The 500-Raw is way faster than the 444 with just a hair more torque than the 555.

    Is the Hitec at 2:40 really only drawing 1.8 amps at max torque? That's a few times more efficient than the other ones. How do they do it?

  • @hillie47
    @hillie47 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    With a bunch of them you see a downward trend due to heating up. It would be interesting to see how servos hold up with repeated pulls over an interval and where they stabilize. Something like 20 or 30 pulls, 10, 15, 20, 30 or 60 seconds apart and see how their performance changes over time.

  • @tekinprez
    @tekinprez 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You need to factor in the current draw. Some are drawing 8 or 9 amps to make that torque which they may not have when connected in RC system. Some also get hot and then perform a lot differently. In many applications it is about repeatability and accuracy more than max torque.

    We can assume the comparison of outputs between tested servos but the values we should take at face value. Also note that if one wishes to invest in a stronger servo one should also consider the investment of replacing plastic steering components with metal ones as the strength of some servos quickly flog steering components to consistancy of soft ice cream.

    I got a Savox 1231SG in my TRX-4. The traditional Savox hum is mostly benumbed by the stereo headphones I usually wear. I don't know if it achieves its claimed 444oz at 6.0V but it rarely suffers a 'stall' while crawling my 7+lb truck. It's NOT rated waterproof, but at $69.99 on Amazon, I don't much care being I live in the Ca. high desert. I may buy one for my RR10 Bomber if the OEM servo ever fails.

    I found a redcat gen 8 that was half submerged in the mud in a stream. It had obviously been swept downstream and it was there for awhile because it was oxidized to hell. Everything was completely waterlogged.The Savox servo still works and as a matter of fact I still use it in that same redcat after rebuilding it. Testament to quality ?

    The savox squealed like it was getting killed. I find my various savoxes to be usually loud and annoying. Surprised that the spektrum, Hi-tec and tekin were so quiet! I know what i will buy next.

    Hi, is there a smaller steering servo? I have the dsservo's 20 kg and 25 kg. I have a custom build going and really would like something smaller that wont brake the bank! Thanks

      Yes there are smaller servo that are about 1/2 as tall but $$$ $^%#^%! and there are smaller used for RC choppers and fixed wing and strong but again they can be very expensive for good one's.

    What's the torque rating for the 2230 savox at 6v? I'm running the traxxas 2250 at 6v, because I don't want to harm the other servos, and it keeps stalling. I know your video shows it around 260 oz in of torque iirc and most of the 100$ servos you guys tested at 6v wouldn't be a worthwhile upgrade. I already have a jst lead off my trax-ass id plug to power the lights since I'm running a mamba x and would love to have gotten the shv500v3 but those are harder to find than a monk playing craps in atlantic city. And while I don't care for the savox noise, the mamba x is already loud and I want something reliable and strong. But I'm stuck at 6v because.

    I have to say, the results of these tests have surprised me and left a bittersweet taste in my mouth. On one hand the servos I loved the most have turned out to not have the torque claimed BUT on the flip side, it's encouraging because I realize I'm not crazy for wanting more than "650 oz in" of torque. What I'm saying is, this whole time what I thought was over 600 and 700 oz/in was actually only 300ish and there are legit servos out there that I have yet to try. Thanks a lot! Now I know who has the real deal! Reefs triple 5 and Holmes v3 are what I'll be buying from now on. Only 20 bux more than I spend now anyway 🤷‍♂️

    Do the manufacturers measure with an arm or centered on the shaft?

      They official spec is oz/in is 1 inch away from center.
      For kg/cm, it's 1 cm away from center.
