Hello it is me macaroni is awesome and cool I wanted to thank you for liking a video a long time ago I just realize it's there and it gives me the encouragement to keep making video
Thanks to you I build my own ! I made a structure out of foam and then glue very thin bricks onto it. There is no gap that way. I finish with larges bricks but cut an angle on the edges to have no gaps at all.
I have plenty of Hard cardboard tubes (not flimsy cardboard), and this helps me design a rounded dice tower. I have made map and scroll cases out of them, but a dice tower was always on my list.
for a cleaner circle without a jig you can get a flat headed thumb tack and stick it through some tape sticky side down, stick that thumb tack to half the total diameter of the circle you want, pop on a cube on foam and the tack will act as a spindle to turn the foam really steadily.
Hmm I am having a hard time visualizing this, though I am sure that it would work fine. Do you have a pic of this happening? Anything to make circles easier haha. :)
@@Rybonator saw it on a crafting discord. It is just a small tack that can sit flush of the proxxon table with the point sticking up. you then tape it down so it wont move and stick foam on it, where you stick the foam is the center of the circle as you spin the piece through the hotwire.
No clip of the result with sound included kills me! I feel like having a satisfying clicking sound as the dice fall through is almost as important as how good it looks!
I love your design, one change I'd make is for the top layer, to make it look even more bashed up, where the dice fall in, I'd make some broken planks hanging down in.
Kewl, I was thinking about trying something like this with wooden bricks and wood glue. Really like how you distress the bricks, nice touch. Haven't used one of those foam cutters since sculpture class in university. Great job

I prefer the drop down style tumble over the staircase, purely from having had my dice stuck in the spirals before. BUT it would be way cooler if I had done that you are right :) Glad you like the build! Thanks :)
Man. Now I wanna make one with a cool dice set. I would have to get foam, learn more about resin, ect. But it would be fun cause I would feel accomplished.
I should make one of these in ceramic. It would be heavy, but it would sound so cool as the dice fell down it. I have done a tower and a small castle in a very similar block style to this, so it would be pretty easy to do.
@@Rybonator I was talking about sculpting it out of clay, firing the clay to stoneware, then glazing it. I developed a technique for making walls that look like tiny bricks and keeping them together through the heavy thermal cycles the firing the clay causes.
I think it would be cool to make a dice tower that is based on a japanese pond. Like the base is a little resin koi pond and the tower bit is one of those bamboo fountains. Like the dice could roll down the fountain spout and into the bamboo tube where it is then dropped into the pond. Watching this video gave me the idea and I don’t think I could do it justice so maybe you could try it? I love your channel by the way 🥰
If you have the rounded edged metal dice, I used some to test this, it really still holds up quite well. Note sure how it would hold up over months/years, but I could say that for anything. But yeah if not, you can get some mini bricks of concrete or something for not too bad :)
How about some 80's Saturday morning cartoon terrain, (example: Grey skull castle, Thundercats lair, or transformers base)? Your dice tower is wonderful. I am working on one myself.
It would take more work, but you could also do this with a base and roll platforms built of the bricks as well. Or the roll platforms of the wood. One could also have the platforms and roof be more or less clean looking, as if they had been broken or the platforms are made of rotting wood that was once the various floors of the tower.

You don't need the black base coat. Use the modgepodge + your base color (grey) and it will be more than fine. Additionally I would selectively choose some places to put a lime green on, no tower like that is completely clear of moss.
I like using the black since I only use one coat of gray. It helps me find where I missed paint, and darken the whole thing up when only using one coat of the grey after. Just personal preference :) And yeah you totally can spruce it up however you like!
Nothing extra! Just Mod Podge and Black paint. Use your cheap black paint so you don't waste it, because it takes a decent amount depending on how much you use.

This kind of reminds me of those projects we did in elementary school when we had to build stuff out of straws, pipe cleaners, tape/ glue, etc. I had an advantage compared to my peers because you mom was an architect. So when we had multiple days I would just ask my mom, if I didn’t already know. But we ALWAYS worked in groups and my good ideas were usually ignored and if we didn’t win if it was a competition I got to say “I Told You So” Because we are all petty 1st-5th graders.
I made one with a pringles can, but instead of platforms I skewered through the can like a game of plinko cut the skewers flush with the outside then glued bricks to the can. My courtyard was pretty much the same as yours except I made it round instead of rectangular
I've been considering whether to use skewers or platforms like this with a Pringles can, but doesn't using skewers pretty much create two sides the dice could go down? Did you just cover the one side up?

I like that saying :) It would sound cooler if I could say it in ... German? (I think that's what you are speaking but I could be super wrong.)
You have a great night :)
@@Rybonator You are absolutly right on the german part =) It does not sound all that cool though. Its more like what the older generations used to say :)
If you don't want it to be so light on the bottom you can likely add a heavier material underneath the bottom ramp
Absolutely! If you use particle board or a tiny laye rof sheet metal, you'd be golden!
That was interesting Thanks.
Glad you liked it :)
I dont know why I am here. I am terrible at making things. But I am amazed, that tower looks awesome
Wow! That looks like real stone when you're finished! Out of curiosity... where would a person find that neat brick textured rolling pin?
Glad you like it! :)
Check out Greenstuffworks, they make awesome rolling pins like that for clay, but can be used for this application as well.
Having a crafty mom is the best way to get through elementary school! haha :)
Time to roll all the natrual 1 on D20's that I want
It always seems to go that way haha
Cool tutorial! I'm gonna make one of these :D ...and mine actually probably WILL be pink lol. Actually, nah, purple.
@@KayCustom I spiraled them and put one ramp at the bottom directing the dice outwards
@@franklajoie2507 thank you!
Turn down your exposure. The light is way too bright.
Whoooow there buuuudddy
It's not. At all.
Yeah this was with an old camera. Got it fixed in all my new vids :) Good to go now!
Looks good and it's functional. :) Noice!
'Preciate it!
