Wow so great weather! You are lucky! We were there on 23.08.2021 and had very bad weather. We park the car exactly where you park, on the same exact spot. The wind was so strong that could turn your car on it`s roof. We were there 2 days and did not have the chance to see the mountains. It was raining, foggy and so windy all the time. Next time! :)
Sad to hear that, at least you managed to experience the full "Icelandic Summer" ;) .... the weather here is always a great lottery and has messed up some of my drives also. Hopefully you will be lucky the next time!
