I am indian south African. Yes it is sad that the indian student's were beaten by black student's. Usually it just goes unnoticed. Our kids are a minority group so they cannot fight majority black students. Black Economic Empowerment is one of the rules put in by the government. Indians are not given a fair chance at university or workplaces. Blacks are given first priority in everything. South Africa has the highest indian population outside india. Our forefathers were immigrants from india. Brought by Britishers in 1860. Its called the 1860 settlers. Its history here IN South Africa. Being indian i don't read or write hindi. Schools don't teach it here. We studied english and Afrikaans. I am hindi by religion. Har Har Mahadev 🙏
We were forced to learn Afrikaans by the previous government and if you failed Afrikaans in matric,you failed matric.I am referring to pre 94.

How sad that the headline refers to Indian origin students when in fact they are South Africans first and foremost.Our ancestors came from India from 1860 onwards until the early 20th century and many also came from Mauritius as well and we are South African not Indian origin.If media prefers to racially profile then it would be better to state South African Indian,not Indian origin.Whate would the headline be if it was Whites attacked?This headline seeks to create the negative impression that we do not identify with our country,South Africa.After all,when we visit India we require a visa,if we want to purchase property in India we have to apply for NRI citizenship and provide proof of our Indian roots.It is misleading.

Thank you.We are South African and for those who do not wish to understand or don't even know,then clearly they have blinkers about how those of colour were treated under apartheid.This is an internal issue which the Indian media is trying to sensationalise.Our constitution is the best in the world,we must appreciate it and be thankful of the opportunities given to us today.Today South Africa is in a fragile state and instead of defending it,we are adding more fuel.

Centenary sec opened it's doors in 1960...a 100 years after the first Indians arrived from India..hence the name... a school that has produced remarkable individuals who are making their mark in our diverse society. Sadly the dynamics of education has changed drastically in the last 30 years.

Sorry there are some views that these are SA from India. To clarify, these students are South African of Indian origin. The incident here was racially motivated, black students attacked & beat up Indian students. The police has no power to react, but they should separate the students while they are required to do. They would have acted differently if they were Blacks attacked. I am a retired teacher & lecturer, Centenary Sec was one of the best school, that was during Apartheid Era. Bulling in violence has risen to such proportions, that noone can intervene.

@@nomagcisacawe3297 the black students ganged up on the Indian students and now a few of those Indian students are badly injured and 3 are hospitalised, that attack was entirely because of being an Indian minority so that means it was definitely a racial attack
I was there and it was a racist attack the principal closed the schools because black students assaulted him, the black student were angry and started attacking Indian students for no reason yes for no reason,

30 years into democracy and the majority are threatened by a minority. The same minority that fought apartheid together with them. Where was the racism then . My great grandfather father was Indian who came from Mauritius as a sugarcane cutting slave who was forced to be here in South Africa not by his own will but by the will of the slave masters what pain and suffering that they went through can you imagine being taking from your family and not knowing where you are going it was painful for every slave who had to go through that suffering.

What do they mean by Indian origin did Indians chose to be in South Africa or they were forced to be here because they were slaves brought to South Africa by force not by their will like many other slaves.

Drugs are ripe in schools, therefore drug cant be ruled out , a proper investigation must be done. In South African students are given too much of freedom/ rights even teachers are not allowed to discipline a child. This school is situated in the center of an Indian suburb....many children did attend this school come from outside the suburb....its possible these children from outside are children of refugees not necessarily South Africans.

If you know about South African history the invasive species never travel on they own they where brought as slaves in chains to south africa as indentured slaves, some came willingly while others where forced that's how you get those invasive species every where you go especially in South Africa.
