Learn Thai : Best way to drill Thai tones in your brain with unique tone practice Part 1

  • if you want to sound like native speakers , one thing you cannot avoid... learn Thai tones.....Practice Thai tones need repetition until you fix it in your brain. It is like musicians do an ear training to improve their musical ability by developing a more intuitive understanding of what they hear. So why not training your ears that way?
    This method can be used for training non-tonal language speakers to drill tones of tonal languages into their brains.
    Apart from that, using model words which learners are familiar with will lead them to get the right tone faster.
    However, without a consistent practice, no methods will work. I recommend you to practice it every day for 15-30 minutes and you will see a big progress on your pronunciation. Rome wasn't built in a day. So do Thai tones for non-tonal language speakers. Be patient. Keep practising and the result will amaze you.
    You can use this Thai lesson for free to improve your Thai tones skill. But if you know native speakers, ask them to correct you. that will be the best way to learn Thai pronunciation.
    The next video will be only tones exercise like in this video. You will learn Thai basic words and practice tones at the same time. So at least you will get the tone right on common words in daily life.
    Additionally, you may read Thai and say it out loud (also record it) and check with native speakers.
    I hope you enjoy my video and have progress in learning Thai tones.

    This help is immeasurable.
    I am from Hong Kong, and this is easy because Cantonese has even more tones. I was three years old to know the difference between "mom cooked dinner" and "a horse cooked dinner" -- แม่ and ม้า.
    Yet, even when I can read the script, this is still the best for me -- as a generally English speaker -- on the fly.
    Thank you.

    • @ChuChu-zr6cl
      @ChuChu-zr6cl 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thai Chinese call mom >> "ม่า ม้า" or "ม้า" (short style)
      So you call mummy >> "ม้า" that's ok .

    This is one of the best tone videos I've ever seen. I can remember the tones of words I've heard specifically from a piece of media, but I have so much difficulty remembering how to say a tone when I'm simply reading a word. Thank you. Not only that, but you are an AMAZING teacher. I literally showed this video to one of the educational students that I tutor, because I was so impressed with the way you quickly moved through the material with different examples while being fun and entertaining.

    This is a very good introduction to pronouncing Thai tones For someone starting to learn the Thai language. I have been living in Thailand for a couple of years and I have no problem enunciating the tones when I know which tone should apply to a word. More difficult is being able to hear Thai tones in conversational Thai, and remembering which tone to use to give the syllable you’re pronouncing the meaning you intend. Using the wrong tone, or applying no town at all, can make your spoken in Thai unintelligible to a Thai person. I once told the parents of a small child that their son “likes to ride horses“, with disastrous results as what the parents heard from my mouth was, he likes to eat dog sh*t.” And I once got slapped in the face by young lady I tried to describe as “beautiful“, but using the wrong tone had me calling her “bad luck“. One day I will master employing the correct tone, if I only live long enough…
