Case does the best job on there bone covers. Worth the price to me. I Do like my RRs they also do a great job. This is a great comparison. And I really enjoyed it Michael! Thanks for sharing!
They’re both beautiful knives. I feel bang for the buck you are hard pressed to beat Rough Ryder. I also really like my Case knives. Thanks for sharing and God bless.
Rough Ryder makes some fantastic knives for the money. I think Case does bone better than anyone else. I have a Case 75 stockman with bad blade rub and I have a large Rough Ryder stockman with absolutely no blade rub at all and dead nut centering.
I appreciate this topic and your thoughts on them. Case, IMO, should have the experience, tools and workforce to completely wipe Rough Ryder off the table. Thing is, Case does not always do that. I have purchased in the neighborhood of 30 Case knives in the last 3 months and gotten stunning knives to crap. I have expectations for "Good". Just give me good, especially for the money they charge and I will pay more for USA made. Rough Ryder on the other hand, has been "good". Probably because I don't expect that much for a $15 knife, so when I get "good" I am happy. I have had a couple "crap" Rough Ryders, but hey, I am out $12, big deal. Today, I decided collecting Case knives is a little like collecting baseball cards. Always looking for that "Babe Ruth Rookie", but getting the Pete Rose in 1989, his last year.
Admittedly, I am a Case collector and have exactly zero RR in my collection. I think the bone work that Case does is second to none. But I appreciate what RR is doing for the money and with all the variety in patterns and styles, I can see why a lot of folks collect them.
You made me think of Tobias's channel the other day when he was talking about the quality of bone. Case uses the dense shin bone, but what are Chinese companies using at this price point? Your observations on the difference in how the dye has taken on the knives, made me think that perhaps different qualities of bone are being used. I've no idea if that's the case, however. I have a supposedly minty Case Teardrop Jack arriving today in amber jigged bone. Can't wait to see it.
I have quite a few Case, twice that easily of Rough Ryder. Every now and then I fantasize I'm going to elevate my collection by getting rid of the bargain China knives. So I pull out a storage case, examine my RR, wonder what idiocy possessed me and I keep them all. The only "perfect" ones I have are all milled out modern traditionals, and since some say they have no soul, I'll just leave that there lest someone think I consort with the devil.....
Really pretty green!! Both great knives brother!!
Good video

Thanks Stan 😊
For a cheap knife that RR is pretty nice. I just wish they would lose the cartoonish logos on the bolsters

It's so frustrating 😫

Good comparison. Love the various cooper series RR does.
Sweet looking knives bud.

Hope is a beauty 🙏
I always thought that RR scales looked like armadillo hide.
Now, that would be cool scales 👌

If you're talking about getting rid of knives, you may be possessed 😳
Case has better bone and polishing. Everything else is comparable
