The notch in the blade is called a Barber's notch and is copied from old straight razors. It was intended for the barber to be able to open the razor with one hand by catching that notch on his apron while holding a strop or shaving cream with his other hand. To your point it would also be handy for a wounded soldier though.

Boosh! I had the bartender likes how it looked but did not like it in hand. Sold it to a friend. Then I got the RRR barlow love that one. Great video Pete

Very nice collection of RRR's. I have about half as many as you and from what I have the F&F is really good. I like the covers that Rosecraft offers better but my preference in traditionals is multi-bladed knives. The RRR line offers this. I checked SMKW and found a RRR that looks like a Sowbelly Stockman....it already shipped 😊

Great RRR collection Pete! I’ve got a handful of them but have been more drawn to the Rosecraft stuff since Mr. Armstrong started that up. The bone handles on those are just what the Reserves are missing.
I've been wondering how they compare to Rosecraft as Rosecraft seems to be well done. I don't have a Rosecraft but my first Rough Rider will be here tomorrow. I ordered that Clasper. What do you think of that one as a 1st RR?
