North American P-51B | Don Beerbower's Mustang | Model Aircraft #7

- Don M. Beerbower considered his P-51B to be the greatest fighter plane he had flown. He loved it so much, he opted to stay flying P-51Bs even after the D model was released owing to its lighter weight and greater maneuverability. Beerbower went on to become a fighter ace, tragically dying in a similar way to Hans-Joachim Marseille as he bailed out and struck the tail of his P-51. He left a wife and daughter, the latter of which his plane was named after (Bonnie B).
Join us as Maksim Goyna builds Beerbower's beautiful Mustang. He will build a 1/48 Accurate Miniatures P-51. We feel plastic modeling is far better than how to paper airplane. : ) If you never have tried building, give it a try some time. Odds are you won't go back to paper airplanes anytime soon.
You will notice that this isn't a regular P-51B. This Mustang has some modifications such as a Malcolm hood and a tail fillet.

P 51B with the Malcolm hood is the most beautiful of all the P-51 models in my opinion. You really did a beautiful job.

Superb build! I read Beerbower’s biography years ago and have wanted to build his aircraft for awhile.
Thanks for watching! Beerbower definitely deserves more credit after hearing about some of his exploits. Modelers probably shy away from this since it requires a lot of masking, but I imagine Eduard will box this version in the near future with their exciting new P-51B/C release.

Hi there, nice paint job and video. Have question for you: what gloss varnish u using and why that HATAKA matt varnish have brownish tint??
The Hataka is transparent actually, it just has a slight tint in the bottle. Thanks for watching!
what's with the gloves at every step? not a human brain : ). Also - not accurate if you don't fill the wing seems. No 51 had all the panel lines visable.
