  • Hello everybody, welcome to my TH-cam channel!
    My name is Aleks and in this video I compare 3 different stainless steel, blue dial, chronographs in the 10,000€ price segment.
    In the comparison we have the 2022 Omega Speedmaster 57 (ref. 332.10.41.51.03.001), the IWC Pilots Watch Chronograph (ref. IW388101) from 2021 and the 2018 Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph (ref. Q9028180).
    I will compare them in different aspects: wearability, design, movement and value and then also give you my personal take on each watch.
    Make sure you hit that like and subscribe button.

    One thing the 57 has that the others don’t: the 3 O’clock register also functions as a dual time for travel; so you’re getting a traditional chrono AND a dual-time GMT.

    • @shunaalparwanda1567
      @shunaalparwanda1567 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 3 PM register is not a GMT function, its the minutes and hours times on a single register...

    • @gfxdaddy
      @gfxdaddy ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@shunaalparwanda1567 Didn’t say it’s a GMT function, I said it can also function as dual time. Think about it: it’s a 12-hour and 60 minute register that functions independently. If you time it correctly, it can be used to track a second time zone. Time and Tide has a video with Omega where they discuss this.

    I’d go with the Polaris any day if cost was no issue. Lots of depth to that dial, under 12mm if I heard correctly. I’ve grown bored with large watches, at 42mm, I’d typically look elsewhere. This and the Speedmaster Pro are exceptions. It’s simply stunning. JLC aren’t going to appeal to everyone, but their history is something anyone into watches would find interesting. The Polaris no date is something I’d very much like to try on, I see that as a very good alternative to an Explorer. There’s a Master Control Memovox that’s caught my eye.
    I own a Railmaster which I love. As a fan of Omega, the updated ‘57, for me that was the most improved watch of ‘22. The ‘57 is now the perfect compliment to all the Professionals Omega offers. The movement is stunning as well and completely it’s own thing too.
    The IWC, I’m not a fan of a 12,6&9 register layout. They integrated it well enough, but the dial simply comes off too busy. If I was more interested in that format, I’d probably love it.
    I don’t think the JLC is over priced, I believe the Omega is a good value, but I wouldn’t pay MSRP for either. I’d need to find’em pre owned at a solid value. Those kinds of dollars are outside my comfort zone.

      @@georgeii2629 JLC offers a great blue for that Polaris, that’s for sure. I know I could use of blue dial, however I seem to favor black, brown and gray dials. I wouldn’t overthink it. Going to see the watches and follow your instincts I think is what works for me.

    The Omega 57 is the purest of these chronos. The others feel like they are wanting to be too much. The Polaris, for example ,is a grossly underrated world class diver. JLC, Is there really a need to make it a Chrono? Sometimes less really is more. As for value….all three miss the mark for my money.

      @waterfordrs22 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not as if the other Polaris offerings were taken away. At the end of the day, the Polaris is not their hardcore diver’s watch, it’s more of a utility player. The no date Polaris would be a great alternative to an Explorer for example.

    Great video! Good quality shots and I love the wrist shot angles.
    A few corrections, the JLC Polaris doesn’t have a screw down crown, my only complaint. I’ve owned it for almost 5 years, and it’s the best blue dial on the market IMHO.
    The IWC use 21MM lugs like the Polaris. I actually sold my pilot Chronograph due to the longer lug to lug

      Nice video, I would have included Zenith but it’s not the point. Not only all brands are increasing prices ridiculously, they also pretend to be surprised when customers ask for discounts. “Oh we don’t offer discounts”. “Oh keep your watches then” is my answer. I’m listening to the most stupid things at ADs. No discounts on Omega, Zenith, IWC, Bulgari???? Really?? No discounts even on old pieces like Bulgari serpenti in steel and quarz movement! 😂 And this is because between 2020 and 2022 people kept on thinking watches are great investments and it’s worth to pay full price. No, they’re not. All brands are now trying to copy Rolex and AP practices. 3 years waiting lists on women’s models. Waiting lists on Zenith’s and Omega’s!!! 😂😂
      Truth is watches are liabilities with ever increasing maintenance costs and brands are disconnected with reality and what is just going to happen with the economy.

    Awesome matchup 👍to me the JLC had the potential to be among the best contenders on the whole matket but has two flaws: case size since on the caseback you can see the movement is too small and yes 42mm works well but 41 would be even better IMO, then no running second doesn't work for me neither. Too bad cause movement and design are awesome. I do love the IWC aestethic but lug to lug is big and at this price point it should be 1mm thinner and flyback IMO. So the Omega is the clear winner here but I would pick the black dial to get the sandwich dial

    • @AleksWatches
      @AleksWatches  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One of the reasons why rolex got so popular is cos almost every model has double gasket with screw down crown and real 100m WR. Even their dress watches are fully capable of a free 10m lagoon dive. Omega needs to up their game on the speedy line up and at least put a screw down crown and caseback so the average buyer who wants a daily wear would consider it. The speedy line is definitely not a one watch collection cos of the non existence water proofing. That single gasket seal on the crown doesn't do anything as the chrono pushers have zero gasket.

    • @AleksWatches
      @AleksWatches  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      50m is totally fine for daily wear. Don’t see the WR as the issue.

    • @ilmostro16
      @ilmostro16 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The Omega is manual wind so you absolutely do not want a screw down crown. It’s not a diver, what pool are you swimming in where 50 meters of rating won’t be enough? Let’s be honest, we aren’t taking any of these very expensive watches deeper than a hot tub.
