She was one of the best, gone too soon.... 😍I can not listen to her, without crying, a voice of an angel....now she probably is one. RIP Eva. Thanks guys!
Eva Cassidy was so incredible what a voice and talent. It was such a tragedy and loss to the world when she died of cancer at only 33 years old in 1996, but her music will forever live on. Some other recommendations are Danny Boy, Time After Time, Fields Of Gold, Autumn Leaves, What A Wonderful World, Songbird. Thank you for your reaction.
There's really nothing she can't sing , All of the songs she did were covers starting from the 1950s all the way up until the 90s ! She can sing the hell out of gospel ! If you really want to hear what her voice is capable of check out " Had I a golden thread " ... Autumn Leaves is another beautiful song she covers !
She could do any genre of music that is one reason she was never signed to a record deal, she didn't want to compromise what she wanted to do,gospel, blues, jazz contemporary. She was amazing selling tapes out of her car.
Always luv Eva’s rendition of this song…hauntingly beautiful…guys do check out some insane singing talents in this years America Got Talent..the teen from Indonesia Putri Ariani and the fisherman guy from Philippines Roland Albante…both got golden buzzers!
Thank you for sharing this video. Her love of multiple music genres and her ability to easily transition from one to the next, staying true to the song while making it clearly her own was the trademark of a great singer. She appeared and recorded at Blues Alley in Washington, D.C. toward the end of her life and her live performances were electric. One of my favorites has always been her version of Natural Woman. Powerful. Again thank you for showcasing her and allowing her music to continue to reach and speak to others.
I know you need to hear it again, once or twice or more times to really appreciate what you just heard. Vocally, fantastic. Played that guitar and made it talk to us. And her arrangement was literally out-of-this-world. Sadly, she passed away within a year after this recording. After her death when people found out about this recording of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' it became a global sensation and it's popularity soared to 'top of the charts' heights all over the world. Personally, I believe it to be the finest live performance I have ever heard in my life. And when you consider the tragic ending to her life at such a young age (I think 33) how can you not express sympathy toward her singing this song. Listen to the lyrics carefully. Judy Garland made the song famous in 1939 in the movie 'The Wizard Of Oz' and the song will always be hers. BUT, I'm sure Judy will slide over a little and let Eva have a seat right next to her in the place where wonderful singers rest their souls.
Totally agree! If only we could have her back XO…… To leave us in her prime only makes it more astounding. When the resurrection occurs in the not so distant future she will be among the most sought after artist to continue her mastery of the arts
Its amazing to me how much better it is to listen to music with others. Cant imagine the solitude of people who dont want families to share moments like this. Love you guys.
I just came across your channel, watched your Simply Red "If You Don't Know Me By Now" reaction. I went to your list of videos and the first 30 or so, I was like, I know that song, I know that song, I know that song, etc. Then I saw this one at the top of the list. This one has broken many a reacter. Her voice is sweet and phenomenal. It's the only live recording of her doing it. She was gone way too young. I'm a huge fan of Wizard of Oz. I saw, a few years ago, the Pentatonix cover of it, called "The Wizard of Ahhhs", and loved it. I also am a HUGE fan of the original, by Judy Garland. Kirsten, from Pentatonix, did a great cover of it as well. But, in my opinion... NOBODY does it like Eva did it. Thank you for reacting to it. I watch a LOT of music reacters on TH-cam, at least a couple dozen or more. You got another sub from me. :)
The performance you just reacted to was done around January of 1996. She would be diagnosed in the summer of that year with the cancer that would take her life in the late Fall of 1996. All requests from the commenters here will be gems. People Get Ready is another one to react to as is Autumn Leaves. RIP to Eva.
To appreciate Eva, you have to watch "NightLine's" feature on her. It's the most requested film to be repeated ever. After you watch her story, her impact is magnified. Every time I hear her sing, I think "If only------
I just came across your channel ya’ll was reacting to Whitney Huston exhale there is this song called count on me by Whitney i don’t know if you heard it before but it’s really good
Thanks for your reaction. Please listen to Eva's rendition of "Wade In The Water." It really showcases her vocal range. Every single person who hears Eva sing is spellbound by her. Heaven must have needed another angel to take her so soon. Years may pass but we all feel her loss as if it were yesterday. God bless.
The song you have listened to is considered by many to be one of the best renditions ever recorded! It is beautiful yet haunting, knowing what is in store in the near future. There are several other stunning performances by Eva on her TH-cam channel including bridge Over troubled water, time after time, Danny Boy, people get ready, Autumn leaves, fields of Gold, and others. I highly recommend another artist with a beautiful voice who has been a prodigy. Here is a link to her 9-year-old performance of I put a spell on you which also is considered the finest ever recorded by a 9-year-old! th-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/w-d-xo.html Angelina won Norway's Got Talent at only 8 years old, and has over 200 performances on TH-cam up to the present age of 17. She has one performance in a mashup virtual Duo with Eva Cassidy singing Fields of Gold!
She passed away later in the same year after this concert was recorded She didn't want this released because she had a bad cold. I'm not sure if she knew she was terminally I'll at the time. She was greatness. Gone way to soon.
Eva brought me here. Take a listen to my favorite currently performing vocalist. Diana Ankudinova. Her voice is remarkable. She did Chris Isaak's Wicked Game at age 15 th-cam.com/video/kt78je5hD0k/w-d-xo.html and Elvis' Can't Help Falling in Love at age 18. th-cam.com/video/M-znD6QKbrg/w-d-xo.html She is now 20 years old. Enjoy. Here's her story: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diana_Ankudinova

My wife's favourite female artist, well along with Cher.
Rest in sweet peace, Ms. Cassidy.
The greatest live performance I have seen by any artist, ever.
I always loved Eva from the first time I heard her sing. I didn't discover her until after her death. A beautiful voice.👍❤️

This song was performed in Jan. By summer, she discovered her cancer. Gone by Nov, I believe. 😭😭

It's clear that even at this point, she was in pain. And yet to keep on singing as she did. Truly remarkable in every sense of the word. RIP Eva.

No human being with soul in their heart could not just break down and cry when she hits particular notes

Her voice is magnificent as is her guitar playing.
The first time I heard her version of this was at a funeral. I cried like a little child.
Rest in Peace Eva Marie Cassidy 1963-1996 age 33 from Melanoma cancer.
In tears...thanks guys
Beautiful performance .
She was so ill with flu when this was recorded. The gaps in her vocals weren't usual, but added to the emotion here.
Please do a reaction video to Sarah Vaughan singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow live from Holland 1958 you won't be disappointed.

Have you reviewed Angelina Jordan yet?????????????😊❤❤❤
Check out the Eva Cassidy Fan Club. It's online.
Both obviously enjoyed it but my guy here looked like he turned into butter. 😉
You stopped it before the last notes 🤔
