Describe a vehicle. Wheel covers, black plastic bumpers, Halogen headlights, non-adjustable passenger seat, 4 speaker radio, cloth interior, hard plastic door panels. Is it a 90s Lada or 2000s base model Kia? No. It's a 2023 Ford for over $110,000. /s.
You're looking at a 10 year break-even point compared to the regular Transit. Doesn't make much sense to me. EV's make a lot of sense in certain applications, where the manufacturer is able to make the car feel 'worth it'. The Model 3 is a good example, it feels absolutely worth its price in terms of performance, technology, interior quality. As such, it sells like absolute hot cakes. Whereas something like this is directly comparable to it's petrol equivalent - there are no real performance, technology or interior enhancements. I mean it has HALOGEN headlights? As such its extremely hard to justify a 40k premium and likely wont be very successful.
I can’t agree more. This just does not make sense, as a cargo van this has compromised load capacity in terms of height clearance and weight rating. As a full EV it is still built on old platforms and missing all the new EV technologies, on top of it there is a hefty price premium. I’d pick up a diesel version any day.
$32,000 razors don’t make much sense either do they. $90,000 RVs and boats don’t make much sense either do they I think if you work hard, you should be able to spend your money where you want on what you want.

We have a few eSprinters on the fleet, their ideal for last mile work as their range is only about 60 - 70 miles but useless for long distance plus we charge at out warehouse like most ev van users. For distance diesel only and hydrogen when it becomes viable.

If the EV version is $112,000 how many years will it take for him to break even? Again real life says these vehicles just don’t add up
You are a great reviewer, thanks. Now, I know it's probably boring but I'd love to see a standard Transit review with the 2lt diesel. Oh, there's no way I'd ever buy into the electric car madness. Give me an efficient diesel any day.
Have the same van from 2018 , 2.0 diesel. 145,000klms , 900klms per tank , serviced every 20k , paid 25,500 € ..... why would you bother with an electric yoke and they are €60,000 in ireland 😅
I think an accountant is needed to determine if the e-Transit is worthwhile or not, because there's more to total cost of ownership than purchase price. With something like a Renault Traffic selling for maybe $65k that's 40k that needs to be covered, and I am unsure if all of that can be recouped by the cheaper running costs of the e-Transit alone. I've read some reports that Canberra is looking to set a zone in its CBD that is petrol/diesel-free and I can't believe that other cities won't follow at some stage with ever-increasing areas where ICE-vehicles are banned, so the move to electric vehicles might well be forced. One thing that irritates is the seeming necessity to add blue highlights to every electric car. Surely manufacturer CEO's have more maturity than this?
While I also question the sheer cost of this, Renault vans are cheap because they're rubbish. Auspost is not getting any more due to problems with their transmissions.
With a price like that a cynical person would think legacy automakers don't want us to transition to BEV's anytime soon. New Hiaces range from 50-80k. No business is going to choose to spend 30-60k more for the vehicle.
Hmm $40,000 over the diseasal variant and only 160,000km warranty (or just about two years for the local Aramex driver). There is no way a genuine business bean counter would go for this. Plus, given the test in England that found that around town in the 40km/h crawl where regenerative braking doesn’t really work enough to offset acceleration these are token to get tax brakes only
I dont understand. They expect us to go electric, and myself coming from and small country town will not. But how do they expect everyone to buy electric if they cost beyond the price of a combustion engine?
