      No. Our did not have any perceivable scent to it. It’s made of material. The only plastics are the hubs and bars for support that are built in.

      @disconnectforadventure oh this tent has many advantages and a Mr Buddy heater would be way more than enough. I like how the bottom of the tent flares out. I bought a RBM cuboid with their stove and it's worth the price but I kinda think that those insulated wall on this tent is such a bonus and darkening would be great for sleep. I hate the idea of getting yet another kinda pricey tent lol but this tent would be on my list for sure. I bought a portable AC unit and I can get things super cold. The first time i used my RBM tent and stove it got up to 105 degrees lol. I'm not sure I'm really camping at this point : )

      @@oldgrunt5569 camping versus camping I guess is for the individual to decide? I can hop in an RV or grab a tent. First came the RV and next the tent. The tent for me is more for winter camping as it's hard to have a 4 season RV with all the freezing issues and not as many state parks open once it gets cold. I got a tent to help make myself do something in winter lol. I have just enough comfort items but I would never bake anything lol. I love a wood stove yet I bought a mister buddy and never use it. I can fit my tent and needed gear in my jeep so that is a plus. I can set up fast and my over costs are far far less expensive than any type of RV or tow camper. When not in use, I don't have to figure out where to park an RV or Camper. In the end I don't want to suffer for any reason so near glamping is just helping me go more.

    • @gregm9638
      @gregm9638 ปีที่แล้ว

      @oldgrunt5569 I understand for sure. I respect people who have those survival skills. I watch the TV series Alone to watch people go one on one with nature with 10 items. I like the bushcraft stuff too. There is some planning with my glamping lol, I cut, pack, and bring wood. I have to prepare my glamping items lol. I had to plan my purchases to glamp properly : ). Thanks for the convo.

      The basic design is derived from ice huts. They have openly stated this. The change comes with window and vent designs. While yes it is definitely cheaper to just buy a regular ice hut, we do enjoy this model and find the windows to be a big plus. Thanks for watching

    Cool tent ,Luv the big window ! I have a SHIFTPOD it’s keeps you warm during Montana winters but needs to be set up in your house when you get home for a day or 2 to make sure all the moisture has evaporated from the insulation….. Does anyone know if this tent requires the same maintenance?

    • @disconnectforadventure

      @disconnectforadventure I hear you. One of my friends would so dig the darker colors. Circling back to the floor design, how do you feel it makes it better? Is it a deeper tub floor design? Is the floor tougher?
      I understand lots of shiftpod lovers may have some hate, but not me.
      I am a shiftpod fan, but I am also a fan of many tent designs. I like geometric designs, big, bright, colorful, you name it. I also have a purple colored hiking tent from naturehike (it may not be durable, but I love the purple color, so I am still a fan hahah). I'm also looking at acacia because it's purple, with the shade structures attached.
      I'm intrigued by this tent because it looks like a shiftpod, but in a different color, and another one of my friends also feels similar about not being seen (which, in these times, I understand what you mean as times are becoming...interesting).
      Share away. I look forward to seeing more videos. I especially like the big windows on this one.
      One of my wishes is to have one like this, purple outside, maybe aqua inside, and big windows like the gazelle one, and a square shaped door. ^_^

      @@florindagonzalez5700 Sorry, just saw your comment. YT only alerts me for the initial comment, not followup ones. I personally like the floor design better for its ease of cleanup. The zipper isn't in the seam between the walls and floor, rather closer to the middle. Makes unzipping it a breeze to be able to sweep out dirt and such. No bathtub floor design. I could see water coming in through the crevices in the floor if you had a good amount of water underneath. I always use a ground sheet and avoid areas that would be prone to having a stream go through my tent in a storm though. So far, so good. I will be doing a review on their weather pack this month...should be published by the end of October...fingers crossed. Thanks for the reply and thank for watching!

      How is the floor design better?

    • @overlandish
      @overlandish 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      its more like anyone who's ever made a hub tent took the base design from old fishing huts. Our innovation comes form the design of the material and windows and packdown size. At the end of the day the rest of the hub tents are all longer than 6' packed down and we are sitting pretty at 4'11" with thicker insulation and more ventilation.

      @@florindagonzalez5700I like that the floor unzips away from the walls allowing for easier cleanup of the tent. I have always found floors that zip at the seam between the wall and the floor to be a pain to zip up and to use practically to clean out debris and such.

    You need to guy them out and keep them tensioned in heavy weather. Plus the center pole in the middle. But with center pole and guy lines, it's a pretty bulletproof design. They just look naked without a fly.

    • @overlandish
      @overlandish 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DanielBardi correct the bus tent design is from the 80's. What we did is design our own material and made a specific geometry to get the most space and height while still being able to pack down to under 5'.
      as far as color goes wether its black white or reflective its all the same when it comes to things like fabrics, in metals its different but in materials that don't retain heat or cold for very long its marginal at best. Also our materials don't scratch - which makes reflective surfaces actually retain heat instead of reflect. The ONLY way to combat the heat is ventilation and we have 40% more than any brand.
