The issue with TNA was that they switched performers from heel to face (and visa versa) way too much. That wasn't Corny, he understood how important it is to establish both characters.
Cornette’s point is proven more and more every year. Spike TV literally cancelled Tits N Ass because of Russo. Also Russo’s a snake for turning on Jeff, who got him into the company in the first place. “I had a conversation with a friend” he’s full of shit. There is a huge and important difference between Khan and Carter. Tony Khan had more money on his own (i heard he got his inheritance early) so he really doesn't need to care about business. It's his thing and his thing alone.
What? AJ Styles, Ron Killings, The Rock, D'Lo Brown, Mark Henry, Triple H, Chris Jericho, Test, Shane McMahon, Val Venis, Hardy Boyz, New Age Outlaws, Chyna, Sable, Ken Shamrock, Jeff Jarrett, Kane, Mankind, Sonny Siaki. One of the most mis-guided, consciously-ignorant and tribalistic comments in this thread. The reply from @TheNextStep851 should answer your question and assist you in re-thinking reality. Stop chugging on Cornette or anyone else's balls as a replacement for your individual thinking.
First off, not a leak. These were documents that came out as a result of the discovery over the lawsuit that Corgan filed. Also revealed was that this wasn't the first end run Russo had done. He did this in WWE, he did this with Destination America, and he did this again with POP! All of them are the same: "I have all the good ideas, and you can only be successful if I'm in charge."
The best part about this . In 2024 corny has the most popular wrestling podcast and russos cant get 1000 views on a clip . Funny that such a dinosaur is so popular 10 years later
Imagine a TNA where Jim Cornette, Dutch Mantel and Jeff Jarrett retained creative control, and Russo and Ferrera got left in the dust? Maybe bring in JR and Pat Patterson, (he had been fired from WWE by that point), and let them work with talent? There'd be no AEW and TNA would've been successful.
I listened to Russo shoot interviews because i want to see both sides. But for the lovd of christ i couldn't listen to two sentence of him before hearing Bro. I sat in front of my monitor "Please calm down a bit". Eventually i turned the video off. If i would've been forced to watch the whole thing my bloodpressure would've been somewhere at 300.
TNA was the return of WCW. They just didn’t get it. They plugged in every old guy that wasn’t in the WWF and just hoped it’d make instant money. On top of that they put up with the same old personal crap out of everybody they plugged in like Nash being injured the day before he was supposed to lose a match. That hardly absolves Russo though. People wanted younger guys headlining since 1987 when they were looking for somebody to replace Ric Flair. Then of course it went into overdrive when they wanted to replace all the guys in 1997.
Russo did have a point in the sense that TNA didn't know if it wanted to be a throwback to southern wrassling or a 90's flavored attitude era promotion ala ECW. It came over as confused a lot of the times I watched it.
Cornette was mostly wearing formal suits most of the time. His days of flamboyant rich boy manager in acid trip colour suits were over, and was acting as a authority figure, so he was dressing the part. Yes, he was weaning a yellow jacket at once or twice, but it was a pale yellow and most of time, his jackets were plain black.
Russo and Cornette are just complete opposites, Cornette is a traditionalists in his mind if it's not broke don't fix it and wants more grounded story lines and matches while Russo is very much entertainment focused he will throw anything at the wall to see if it sticks he wants out there story lines with a focus on comedy and eye candy.
Russo is a weasel for trying to do this to Cornette and Jarrett. Most of Russo's ideas are trash. If you listen to him talk he sounds like a delusional person that knows very little to about pro wrestling. Hes slightly above Tony Kahn. Every other word that comes out of his mouth is Bro.
As much as i respect/love Jim Cornette he doesn’t know when to step back and compromise (Two grown men acting like grade schoolers) Jim will knock Tony Khan about not listening to others but, what makes him different? (in any line of work not every employee is going to get along like best friends (Both men were wrong should’ve just punched each other out and started over again
The only point I agree with is the presentation. Yes, some of the outfits Jim Cornette wore were wildly passé. But you could argue they could generate easy heat because here’s this guy straight out of the 1980s taking over a modern wrestling show. In terms of booking, Jim to this day is great. Where he’s struggled is in presentation and he’s never seen the value in that because Smoky Mountain was in the 90s, but except for the Gangstas was about a decade behind the times. You can’t have a national wrestling promotion that looks that old. Booking and promos? Great. But you can’t have angles out of the 80s without modernizing something. Vince on the other hand, wasn’t good at anything in wrestling, so it’s a moot point.
I love watching these guys (VInce and Jim) fight. its hilarious Is it for clicks and viewership? Probably. Doesn't mean its not A) genuine heat and B) hilarious
All Cornette wanted, was for shit to make sense, & for the wrestling to be taking seriously by the wrestlers; as for being a dinosaur, I remember him saying back in the early/mid 2000’s, that he wanted an 80’s style wrestling presentation (ie serious), with guys/girls that were actually born in the 80’s. Then, as the years went on, the only thing that changed, was the decade he wanted the wrestlers to be born in; he still wanted it to be treat seriously, with shit that made sense, as that kind of wrestling makes people keep coming back- as it did every week during the territories. Yes, it can be updated, but that doesn’t mean completely changing what the business is about, & turning it into a reality tv sideshow. Jim wasn’t one for just using the over the hill gang, except in certain spots: either as special attractions, who would make occasional performances, or as enhancement talent, who would put the young guys/girls over, and teach them how to work. Russo said he wanted wrestling to be like the Jerry Springer Show, & wrote it like that; and now the Jerry Springer Show is even more dated, and phoney-looking, than almost anything that went on during the days of the territories. And, as Dutch pointed out, the fan base for that car crash-type of reality show-like wrestling, is incredibly fickle; if you solely play to them, you have to keep doing even more outlandish shit to keep their attention, which is impossible to sustain, & they’re always going to get bored & drift off, which is what happened after the late 90’s/early-mid 2000’s wrestling boom, with ratings falling considerably from where they had been.
Russo always thinks he knows what's right for the business. He even thought TNA should've brought him back at Hard to Kill in 2024!!! NO thanks...He might have created the name but the wrestlers made TNA!!! Just do your POD cast with EC3 can't draw a dime lol
Cornette wasn't as good of a booker as his cult makes him out to be. I grew up watching SMW and eventually ROH when he took over and alot of his booking is just rehashing old ideas. No real creative spin.
You know why Cornette has 394,000 subscribers? He's not afraid to offend people and speaks his mind. People don't have to like him or agree with him but at least JC takes a stand. Dutch trying to make excuses for both Russo and Cornette so as to seem impartial and not offend people is disingenuous in the extreme. His videos do this more often than not. If you can't take a stand then don't post the topic.
I agree. I never had much time for Cornette, but I was a big fan of Russo TV in WWF and TNA (never saw his WCW run as we didn’t have it here), but I don’t think he would do well with or be able to relate to audiences today. That’s life.
Such natural heat,Corny and Russo should have had match, would of been epic. Unfortunately Russo is a gutless backstabber. It would have been a huge money maker

I think it’s because people are curious as to how he got so close to Vince tbh rare shit he nearly out manipulated the master of the art
No Pro Wrestling companies hire Russo today. His opinons are irrelevant today. And he states that he never liked Pro Wrestling. That says it all.
Him not liking pro wrestling is why he was the right man for the job at the time. You win ratings wars by recruiting casual eyeballs not marks.
To your point: the first all in when Cody banned him.
@mikeg2491 what does Mark mean?
@@mikeg2491 Exactly. Why would a company not want as many customers as possible? Wrestling thinks differently and that's why they always have the same pool of people viewing their product.
It's also funny that people say Russo and his opinions are irrelevant, yet those same people are always there to comment on videos about him or respond to his tweets, thus making him relevant.
@mikeg2491 he's never been the right man. Russo ruined alot of wrestling.
The "Red Rooster" Terry Taylor was equally guilty...
Which makes you question who was the biggest backstabber? Vince Russo or Terry Taylor?
The issue with TNA was that they switched performers from heel to face (and visa versa) way too much. That wasn't Corny, he understood how important it is to establish both characters.
I can't wait until someone sends Corny this clip and he sees the email. It should be entertaining. lmfao
Cornette’s point is proven more and more every year. Spike TV literally cancelled Tits N Ass because of Russo. Also Russo’s a snake for turning on Jeff, who got him into the company in the first place. “I had a conversation with a friend” he’s full of shit. Even with getting fired from WWF, Vince jumped ship to WCW like a slimy, gutless pussy (so no, Cornette didn’t get him fired from the WWF). I honestly feel Jim deserves an apology 🤷🏿♂️ & nowadays Dixie Carter has been replaced by Tony Khan (with Vince being replaced by The Elite).
There is a huge and important difference between Khan and Carter.
Tony Khan had more money on his own (i heard he got his inheritance early) so he really doesn't need to care about business. It's his thing and his thing alone.
I’m of the mind that Russo did irreparable damage to the wrestling industry in the long term and he should have never been brought in by anyone.
That mind must be a very enclosed and suffocating space.
He realized wrestling is fake and made it better
Which young talent has Russo ever pushed or made ? Cornette has always pushed for younger guys and their development.
What?
AJ Styles, Ron Killings, The Rock, D'Lo Brown, Mark Henry, Triple H, Chris Jericho, Test, Shane McMahon, Val Venis, Hardy Boyz, New Age Outlaws, Chyna, Sable, Ken Shamrock, Jeff Jarrett, Kane, Mankind, Sonny Siaki. He was always looking to elevate new stars.
Which young talent did Cornette push when he was writing Raw in 1996 and 1997?
One of the most mis-guided, consciously-ignorant and tribalistic comments in this thread. The reply from @TheNextStep851 should answer your question and assist you in re-thinking reality. Stop chugging on Cornette or anyone else's balls as a replacement for your individual thinking.
Hilarious russo talks about everybody else being a mark for themselves . Bro
Are we sure Russo wrote that email? Not enough typos and misspells lol
TH-cam tried to feed me a russo video the other day and I just clicked "dont show me this again"
Everything Russo touched without VKM’s oversight has been straight trash
Didn't Russo touch your mom
Imagine a TNA where Jim Cornette, Dutch Mantel and Jeff Jarrett retained creative control, and Russo and Ferrera got left in the dust? Maybe bring in JR and Pat Patterson, (he had been fired from WWE by that point), and let them work with talent? There'd be no AEW and TNA would've been successful.
Doubtful
I listened to Russo shoot interviews because i want to see both sides. But for the lovd of christ i couldn't listen to two sentence of him before hearing Bro. I sat in front of my monitor "Please calm down a bit".
Eventually i turned the video off. If i would've been forced to watch the whole thing my bloodpressure would've been somewhere at 300.
Any "young hip female" TNA had, Russo would shame them, degrade them and portray them as slappers. He is an incel
It sounds like Russo was shitting on Jeff Jarrett in this letter too , the guy that brought him in….
Jim Cornette is more popular than ever right now.
I can see dutch telling Jim to quit being childish 😆😆😆
Russo did have a point in the sense that TNA didn't know if it wanted to be a throwback to southern wrassling or a 90's flavored attitude era promotion ala ECW. It came over as confused a lot of the times I watched it.
The most confused they seemed was when they forgot if a battle royale should be inside to outside or outside to inside
@@roy12525 They didn't know if they wanted a 4 sided or 6 sided ring.
The only problem with that what he came up with was still stupid and conveluded and ran off fans. It was garbage just like WCW 2000.
I don't remember a canary yellow suit in 2006. Maybe I'm wrong.
He had a pale yellow jacket once. On the September 28th edition of Impact. Search Jim Cornette Bound For Glory Press Conference
So he looked like master p. Like konan
Russo was a one hit wonder with the wwf machine behind him. 😂😂
Exactly. And now he’s a so called “born again” who mocks dirt sheet writers and fans.
@@travismcdonald6576 This seems really personal for you?
He still got more ratings than Cornette.
1:10 “Jim Cornette didn’t like Russo.”
No, Dutch, you don’t say?!
I thought they were bosom buddies!
I want to see Cornette, Russo, and Bischoff win the Trios title in Aew.
Ha.
There are different kind of dinosaurs. I'm a different type than others my age, even younger sometimes.
Vince Russo is such a con artist I hate how he put WCW out of business & then almost TNA wrestling thankfully TNA floated & did not fall.
How many times did Russo use “bro”, in this email? 🤣🤣
He has a custom "bro" button on his keyboard.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone hate another person as much as Cornette hates Russo. Thats a special kind of hatred.
Cornette, like most wrestling figures and fans, live in a very small world.
@@elliottspence that has nothing to do with what I wrote. If you see a job posting for “color commentator”, don’t apply.
Quitting on the spot, power to Jimmy 😂
And lets be fair, he would've done it, without Jeff and Dutch.
A man is always ready to walk if a job disrespects him.
Cornette vs Russo will never be over!
It's weird seeing how his e-mail didn't say bro every fifth word
why would anybody ever want to bring in Vince Russo? The man has done nothing but ruin every wrestling organization he was involved in.
That’s the point. The mark fans are gonna be there no matter what. Cool will bring extra fans
A live stream in 2024 between Cornette & Russo going back & fourth settling the score would go viral 😂 5 million views in 24 hrs
I highly doubt the result of the interaction would end up being "things settled", but it would definitely be entertainment gold.
It would only give Russo the attention he's so desperate for but doesn't deserve. Corny doesn't need it, he's doing fine.
@@GregMerritt-ws8tq Fuck settling things. A debate to who has the better viewpoints on wrestling. Cornette would destroy russo and it would be gold.
@@dan7478 not to mention Jim would say the exact same thing - we'd only be giving attention to shitstain.
@@josereyes1148 At what point did I state whether I was for or against them settling things. 🤦🤣🤣🤣
I can’t help but be pedantic with that email from Russo to Carter.
He called Samoa Joe “Somoa”. 😂
He spelled Samoa wrong 😑
Bro, bro, bro, wressaling, bro, bro…
"PEEPOLE DON'T WANT THE WRESSALLING!"
I really want to have Russo interview Riddle.
He has a point and he doesn't because Jim could do those shoot promos on t. V it would be funny
Vince Russo is older than Cornette, how can he call him a dinosaur?
Cornette guy 4 lyf
Cornette is the man
Russo wears daisy duke cutoff shorts in fast food drive thrus. Or at least he did in 2003.
I sometimes think Russo and Cornette don't like each other.
Jim Cornett is a legend and Russo is an embarrassment, bro!
5:56 "Jimmy blames Cornette for getting him fired" lol.
I love watching these guys (VInce and Jim) fight. its hilarious
Is it for clicks and viewership?
Russo and Cornette are the same age
Cornette and Russo tend to agree on today's wrestling. It's ironic
Oh weird Russo wanted a “sexy female executive” who would have fucking guessed?
Jim's uncle Shane McMahon said one time "daddy gonna funk you sup" I'm thinking abdullah the butcher is secretly dating Becky lynch
Fuck Rock vs Roman. I want Cornette vs Russo at Wrestlemania
Russo always thinks he knows what's right for the business. He even thought TNA should've brought him back at Hard to Kill in 2024!!! NO thanks...He might have created the name but the wrestlers made TNA!!! Just do your POD cast with EC3 can't draw a dime lol
Wrong! Cornette was fied from WWE because of Santino!
Love Dutch and being a bit facetious here but saying Cornette is pretty good at booking is like saying LeBron has a pretty good b-ball game.
Vince Russo "Shit stain"
If russo is smart, hell stay FAR away from cornie . Cornie is no badass, but theres no doubt in my mind cornie would obliterate russo
Here’s a thought. Jim and Vince working together “hating” each other simply for publicity.
I doubt that was meant to be funny.
Vince is so jealous of Corny.😂
I disagree with Dutch. Jeff Jarrett is not a good salesman.
Somoa Joe...ffs
Cornette 4 life
It seems to me that Russo was some bigwigs relative.
worth a wild
Cornette and Russo are both fossils. Cornette is just ten years behind Russo. Theyre both funny on their podcasts, on occasion
