I love this, I brought a flower today that looks just like that but they have it marked s Blacked Susan, I think they messed it up because I already grow blackeye Susans and these don't have the black eye but look like yours.
When planted in all the right conditions they grow fairly decent. 6 inches for your region sounds about right. But poor drainage and lack of sun can slow down growth.
I'm in 8B western WA. I planted mine on a small slope near a short retaining wall in about 6hr of sun. Had grown 3-4 ft in its first season and just started to bloom. I have a slightly different cultivar, mine has a double flower flower head.

Do they take a while to grow? Seems like mine aren’t growing that fast. Temps just got into the 80s in New Jersey. About 6 inches tall.
