  • The following is a short film about Andy Albright’s life and journey up to 2017. Watch and learn about how he went from living what he was told was the “American Dream” to actually living THE American Dream.
“Without my friends, I would never have found my purpose. But, first, I had to find The Alliance,” Albright says.
After graduating from Western Alamance High School, Andy enrolled at the textiles school at North Carolina State University. After graduating from NC State, Albright went to work in the textiles industry. People tried to tell Andy who he should be friends with and hang out with. It made Andy realize he was not on the right career path.
The question was how to get out of that rat race and find his true calling in life.
In 1997, Andy walked away from a career as a manger in textiles, where he had 400 employees reporting to him, and found out about how he could make a living selling insurance. Russ Everett, Andy’s cousin, showed him how it worked and told him he could easily make more than $100,000 annually.
Andy liked what he saw, but he saw the potential to get his friends involved and take the income lid off for other people. Andy and his friends started The Alliance in 2002. The business and life were booming. When the economy took a downturn, times were tough. Still, The Alliance and Andy weathered the storm and enjoyed a resurgence in the economy and business.
Things were good, but then people started turning on each other. Much of the drama was centered around money. Friendships dissolved. Lawyers got involved. It was a mess.
Andy started questioning if he was the problem, or if he was making mistakes that were causing the issues. It led to a lot of sleepless nights. It made Andy question who his true friends and partners were at times. He didn’t know who he could trust at times. Then, he remembered that people turned on Jesus too. Andy certainly didn’t think he was better than Jesus, so why should he be surprised that people would turn on him too?
It wasn’t a fun time for Andy, but he did learn and grow from it. It hurt, but he powered through it. There was work to be done so he stayed focused. He decided his goal was to make an impact on people and on the world.
What really matters in the end? It is relationships and friendships. It is knowing that you made a difference for other people.
Andy decided his family and friends are the most important thing to him. He knows that with a running buddy, you can do way more than you can on your own. That’s how he survived the tough times and it is how he is going to spend the good times now and in the future … with his friends and family.
