Really enjoyed your video and your knowledge of indentifying Boar's vs Sows. Those Bear Skulls once cleaned up make beautiful trophies. I do European mounts on my Whitetail Deer. No matter what the size of the Buck. Love the look of them hanging on the wall. 💪🏼🙏🏻✨

Thanks for all your useful content. It has been so helpful. Just harvested my first bear, a diy Idaho hunt. I’ve hunted WI before unsuccessfully, but I did not do the research or put in the work. I was blessed with a 400lb chocolate! I can’t believe it! I couldn’t move him for a decent picture or a better place to cut up for the pack out. He wouldn’t budge! I’ve been around bear hunting for 20 years and where I’m from there are 700lb bear mounts in the gas stations but this bear, oh my, what a brute and beauty. I had to pull baits because of grizzlies and baiting has been difficult, especially while trying to elk hunt but rewarding. I didn’t even make it up the tree for my first sit, he was on the bait and I spooked him off, shooting him as he walked back up the mountain. I had to relook at some of the hundreds of pics of griz I got because I was freaking at the size and thought I might have made a mistake, but nope. I knew there was at least a 350lb bear coming, by the pics and the size of poop but he was even bigger! I used many of your tips and suggestions and without them I doubt all this wood have been possible, thank you so much

To put things into perspective, I hunted 2 seasons in WI #1 county for numbers and size and never got a shot. I hunted 80 hours each season on private land with premier habitat. I came to Idaho, a lower density area not known for big bears. The difference: research, hard work, quality bait and variety and just my time to be blessed I guess. Had some pretty misfortune things happen a couple days before with a bad hit on a herd bull that should of been a chip shot, anything can happen out there, but I’ll definitely take the good with the bad, thanks for the reply and the content

I've really enjoyed your episodes on bear hunting and all that goes with it. I'm back and forth on the practicality of killing a bear. You've said they don't freeze well, and that's probably the biggest problem for me. It's just my wife and I here at home, and we'd never get though a whole bear before it went South. What's making matters worse is that we're seeing more and more bears on the deer lease, so at some point they're going to have to be thinned out. Got a sow and 3 cubs on a trail cam a few weeks back and last weekend, I found about a ten foot log that had been rolled over from its long time resting place, presumably by a bear in search of grubs. It makes for a nervous walk to my deer stand at 0Dark30. Thanks for all your hard work and for sharing all the knowledge.

Great info Bernie. I hunt New Hampshire. It is certainly hard to tell the sex of an animal when they don't present themselves. If I don't see cubs, its game on... sometimes, like you said its about the population control. Shooting a sow guarantees the cubs won't make it to adulthood. Many areas around here have an issue with bear and crops. We shot a record number the past 3 years!

Curious but is it after legal shooting has passed at night? Some big older Boars are very intelligent. Restricting their movement until after dark. If you can backtrack him to determine where he is generally coming from. One could place his stand closer and bait there. Big Boars get that way by being smart. Good luck 💪🏼🙏🏻✨

More good info Bernie, thanks. I was wondering if you could do a video on judging bear size/weight? Being as you had good cams out this year and noticed you were weighting the bears. Maybe a good broadside trail cam photo with the known weight of the bear? Thanks again for all the info. I’ve learned a lot over the last few years watching your vids and reading your comments on the beast.

@@BowhuntingRoad this is my first year so forgive me…..I’m 350 pounds and that thing looks a good deal bigger than me …it’s head is close to 5 feet off the ground when sitting. Why does it look so huge if it’s not much bigger than a good size buck ? Also. Are those January 21 Cubs ?
